      It's a harlequin ladybird... invasive species that practically wiped out all the regular ladybirds I knew and loved as a kid. They're absolutely everywhere in the UK.

    Even though I’d love to see you do a conversation on it with more power I think keeping it standard would be the right thing to do on this particular car. A straight Audi will always sell well, modifying it will reduce your selling market especially during these times when a lot of people are watching the pennies. Either way it will be good content Dean. 👍🏽😎

    A 13 y-o highly modded car has a limited market wheras the A3 Quatro is probably a future classic and should sell easily so while it aint my call I'd stick to stock!

    Another great video with some mechanic bits thrown in. I’m all for entertainment but it’s great learning when watching a professional fix a car related issue. £700 smackers seems a bargain if it’s just the turbo? In terms of mods, I guess it depends on whether your keeping it or using it for content in the channel. I would go balls to the wall on some sick mods.

    Aww an old A3 I had mine for 16 years and it had 170k on the clock when I part exed it. The only thing wrong with it was rust where the jacking points were. I had to replace the throttle body in the end when the new MOT rules came in place about engine management lights. But she did me well for so long I do miss her.

    If you’re going to keep it go k04 and stage 2+ with all the toys. Will be a great fun car to drive having had a stage 2+ edition 30 myself with 360bhp I know this well :)
    However a standard k03 A3 all straight and true will sell easy and it’s quick cash turnaround for yourself. More a limited market selling an older A3 with a conversion but I’m sure you already know this as you’re a very knowledgeable guy. Look forward to the next one Dean.

    Haha you bought the same car as me! Mines Ebony Pearl, bought it for a cheap in between car after returning a RCZ THP to the finance company due to having it 3 days and the head gasket going, it then broke down 2 more times after that. Any way the A3 drove so much nicer and I’ve fell in love it so kept it! Mine has the lighting pack, auto wipers but no parking sensors.
    Some great content would be changing the timing chain, as I bet yours has started to be noisy on startup, Cam end seals, carbon clean from intake, pcp valve (smoke from crank case due to blockage?), upgrading the turbo to the K04 perhaps, retro fitting things like cruise control, (only needs the stalk and VCDS) lighting pack etc.

  • @mricemantoyou

    Maybe get the turbo modified with a larger set of impellers and remap... So it's standard on the outside but modified on the inside? There's a UK company that does that... Not sure of the scope of it with the current turbo castings?
    And 4 matching tyres is always a good idea with 4wd 😊
    Good luck either way 🍀🤞

  • @ctiley2212
    @ctiley2212 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't complain about rain - we'd love some - love the sound of rain. You said how pleased you are that the car hadn't been modified, so logic says a lot of other people would think the same, thus making it harder to sell when completed if you modify or "upgrade" it. Also people like to do their own modifications to suit their tastes and desires so I'd take it back to standard, clean and detail it and you should maximise your profit, thus allowing a better project next time.

  • @trainmanbob
    @trainmanbob 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice buy!! Keep as completely standard. Do all the mechanics and interior plus a top of the range valet. Will make a great car and seems to be a little pointless modifying it when you are not keeping it and as you say you might lose money on it. Might be inteesting to see massive polish up on the paint and a ceramic coating?
    Cheers, Bob

    My son as a S3 with the same engine. I run my own Mechanics business and rebuilt the top end for him. Not easy engine to work in the car and it looks like you are going to be doing the turbo on yours. The exhaust manifold is a pig to remove a lot of bolts you can not see and the left hand side were the turbo is is almost impossible to remove and even worse to get back on in reassembling it .
    My advise his to drop the engine to work on it a lot easier. Good luck and looking forward to more videos.

    I would upgrade the turbo (if that's the fault's source) and leave other stuff standard. And get them mapped together up to the limit of the weakest link. You'd still get 250-260ish bhp I reckon and the K04 or whatever upgrade turbo would be running super safely, far from being maxed out.

    @gosportjamie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yes, that looks like a pretty good sign of total turbo failure...
    I'd put it back to standard, if you modify it to S3 standard then the next owner is going to be paying S3 insurance premiums, unless they don't disclose the mods to the insurance, in which case they won't pay out if you crunch it. These were fairly popular with people who couldn't afford, or didn't want to pay S3 money and insurance, and it's likely they still are as they give a lot of the S3 driving experience at a much more affordable level...

    Think I'd put it to standard. Might just be my age but over 100k is a leggy engine to try to double it's power without stripping and rebuilding it completely I would imagine the oil looking fresh is probably because it's been refilled so often with it burning/losing it rather than an indication of care.

      @@namegoeshere6638 when you tell me what 56 or 62 stands for yes it's simple. But not everyone on yt is from the UK. I'm from Iceland and living in Norway and in both countries you will have to take a look in the registration papers. But thanks for explaining this for us none UK citizens 😁

    Standard, I like to see your car's restored.
    I can't believe someone would neglect a car like that.

    I think you should just keep it standard and let’s hope you can make a good profit on it and hope you are staying safe and and another brilliant video as always

    Nice project . Keep it standard. New tyres, brakes and recon turbo will be almost a grand. After all the work is done, should get 3.5k to 4k for it. Is it cat N or unrecorded? Thanks.

    I would love to see you convert it but can the engine take the pressure of a bigger turbo? You are the expert so you’ll know the answer. Love ur channel!

    I'm a bit concerned it didn't look like there was any coolant in the tank.
    I like the idea of throwing a KO4 on there and having a little fun, so long as the numbers somewhere near balance out?
    You're probably in for a new turbo, so additional spend of another couple hundred not end of world and would make some good content Vs a straight swap?
    That's assuming the car doesn't need any major spends in other areas so you've got some overheard room?
    Good luck with her. She's got smoke coming out all of the fun places :-D
