100% agree with Ben on going with a smaller turbo and see how far it goes. 800-900 with a wide power band will feel much better than a laggy / peaky 1000hp.
Yeh I agree, staying manual that’s the best option, I went the opposite way and my VR6 is equipped with a G42-1450
I like having James around . He’s like a lot of people I know that don’t really ‘know’ cars but like them. It would be great to see the Blue Devil and the Silver Surfer in a drag and a rolling pull just to see how they faired.
Looking forward to this build and seeing what you do with the V6. As a current mk5 R32 owner I'd agree that they not that fast. Back when they first came out they probably was. But not by the cars that are out now. I bought mine purely for the V6 sound track. One of the best sounding engines out there.
Agreed, they were outdone by later 2.0 turbo cars but not many will say a staggered 6 VR doesn’t give one of the most recognisable and pleasing 6 Cyl exhaust notes ever and that’s something a 4 pot turbo won’t ever be able to replicate .
Love the sound of the V6, defo now I removed the back box. It's just pure heaven.
Excited for this build. Most people put more modern newer engines into older cars but this is breaking the mold, going reverse but then getting 1000bhp is proper lit! Good luck fella 👌👌👍
@@24k__J Exactly, in Germany there's plenty of these engines that (usually) have been put into mk2 golf's that are pushing 1300+hp. There's no replacement for displacement.

@@lukecowell7516 It is when getting big power you drongo. That’s why you see these vr6’s pushing near 1500hp and those 2.0 tfsi engines can barely reach 700. Too much stress in such a small package.

It ain't like a stock 3.2 will make over 1000hp it's because of the huge turbo the same as other engines fuck I know of a b16 making 800hp
Vag engines are shit and I drive a tuned golf gti don't get me wrong I love a vr6 but when I think of displacement I think 6.0+ ls engines
@@lukecowell7516 okay well link me a video of a 2.0tfsi making 1500hp. They can’t do it mate, no matter what turbo they have. And yes, there are engines like the k series which have been known to make 2000+hp, but the reason why the tfsi can’t make that much power is because of the insane stress, and the platform physically can’t handle it. Think of the 4.0 V8 in the rs6’s. They are known to make about 1200hp max, and they are similar to 2 2.0 tfsi engines bolted together. Yes, the power doesn’t come from the displacement in these engines, but having the extra capacity can help decrease the stresses on certain components. Level 1000000 drongo.

I had 213hp stock on the hubs on my a3 3.2 , and it did 5.81s 0-100km/h. And now it is getting boosted 🤗

Great engines! I replaced my 8l S3 they wrecked at devil developments with an R32 golf ⛳️
Went in for uprated rods came back with a knocking bottom end.
After many trips back there to try sort it they eventually gave the car back with all the custom switchable mapping removed and a full tank of fuel gone.
The Tom Tom sucker mark in the windscreen miffed me too as I’d never used one in the car…where had my car been!?
Broke down on the way home flat bed back and promptly stripped for parts 😖

Great vid! I had a mk5 R32 for 8 years and loved every minute of it. The Vr6 is a great engine and i much prefer it to the modern stuff. Sound wise its one of the best exhaust notes i have ever heard. No 4 cylinder will ever sound close to that 3.2 bad boy!
I agree, I bought a mk4 2.8vr6 4mo 7 months ago, came with a miltek system and safe to say the wookie noises are different levels of enjoyment

Nice result , if you wanted to keep the car manual and use a stock box then a MQ500 would probably be your best bet ... i know of another 3.2t putting 800lbft through one so they seem to take the power :)

These cars cannot be boosted without spending serious money upgrading the internals. I know cause I have one and every shop i've talked to said the compression is way to high and it'll just explode and according to online forums and people who've experimented/ tried that unfortunately seems to be true. Forced induction is gonna grenade that motor 100%

Got a mk1 TT 3.2 and starting a turbo build so this has came at exactly the right time. Not going for the same power though.

According to Parkers, The manual version is 6.3s and as someone who owned this exact car (and year) but with the DSG, 6.1s is absolutely possible! I think mine actually had some sort of launch control?! But I never had the stones to actually try it out 🤣 put the gearbox in sports mode and side step the brake and this thing flew!! As well as scaring the **** out of pedestrians! 😂
I can’t wait to see this build man! What I loved about this car was the noise! The previous owner took the silencer out so it was basically the R32 noise, which is epic! Can only imagine how this will sound after u finish the build! 🔈 👌🏻

I was looking into these 3.2 A3's and R32's, but then I saw a Passat CC with the 3.6, and bought that. A bit nicer and slightly more modern interior, gorgeous body and a bit faster in stock form too due to the added power over the 3.2, rated at 300. It's not as special as an R32 is, though.
There was, however, one A3 3.2 with a turbo on it, had about 500 hp. If I had any mechanic in me, I probably would've bought that. A real sleeper, no body kits or anything crazy like that. 😂

Take the v6 out the audi for the cupra and find a ls motor for the audi and keep it sleeper with v8 lol so basically another of cutting and shutting 🔥 that would be a good build

Where's the type R?
Lots of 3.2 turbo builds out there. Look up hpa motor sports and sister company hgp. You’ll find 3.2 turbo making 450hp easy and some Garrett gt42r cars making 600hp some gt45r cars in the 900hp. 600lb ft of torque is where that gearbox is limited with stock final drive ratio. Hpa used to run a taller final drive. Less stress.
Gonna be interesting to see this build, can’t wait to see the 1000bhp seat with the V6 Audi engine

The use of the term V6 is a bit of a liberty. I'm certain they have only one cylinder head not two. It's not actually a V engine. But to be fair it's not lost any power. This will be an interesting swap. Good luck!!

All you need is a turbo kit a head spacer and arp head studs and they will do 500-600 easy on stock inturnals
I had in my head it would have 230bhp minimum those engines are solid

I have same car. 2007 lava grey 3.2. I was gonna ger the 2.0t but they around 200hp. The 3.2 comes 250hp. I put a turbo, down pipe and a tune for around 1000$ total all used parts its around 370 to 380hp. Its a sleeper beast. The 2.0 u can do a down pipe and tune get it around 275hp. The car is very light and I've gotten mine around 170 mph it hauls ass

I have had my Audi 3.2 now for about 7 years.Its on an 05 plate with only 54,000 on the clock.Over the years have had a few upgrades.Had a re-map,bhp,torque,dsg complete milltek system,sports cat and manifolds.Sport Japan drilled and grooved discs.K&N induction kit.Waterless coolant and braided lines.
Regular gearbox and engine oil changes.I think it's pretty good but would love to take a step further.I don't have bundles is cash.Can anyone recommend a next step...

I wonder what crank you will use? The crank in this engine is not as strong as the 237BHP engine in the MK4 R32.
Mk4 vr6 crank are forged :)

not for boosting, the cylinder walls get pretty thin at the bottom in the 3.6. The 2.8 is the strongest block and you can always make up for the displacement with more boost.

Everything is turbo now because its easier and cheaper to get more power.
