Hi, I've watched a few of your videos and found them all enjoyable...very informative, I really appreciate the way you've managed to get your camera kinda up close to broken bits or bolts that would otherwise be hidden. I have an old 2006 B7 Avant and if I had the knowledge to do the jobs you do I'd happily keep it forever!
As always it's a pleasure watching you work, I do have to say, the diesel engine gearbox sounds like a great improvement, my A6 3.0 quattro would be even better with a different gear ratio... Stoked to see the next video and your next project! 👏👏👏👏👏

Nothing like doing a gearbox by yourself saves on gym memberships,,years ago in my youth I use to do clutches on a weekend on my mum and dad's drive by myself on axle stand's,,and now I wonder why all my joints are knackered..lol. 🤔. Keep safe my friend

I'm amazed it passed MOT with that completely oil soaked engine and transmission. Would have failed our version of MOT here in VIC, Australia. PS I do hope you power wash all that crud off before you open it up.
Great work Dean you are a master, just wondering as I hear negative responses, would you recommend renewing the transmission oil/fluid say every 30 or 40k miles on both manual and automatics as personally I would as I’m extremely fussy and look after my stuff, I recently did my Nissan nv200 manual gearbox oil at 88k miles, first change was about 30k miles cheers and best regards to you mark from billericay 👍

I would try it, with shorter diff, it wouldn't feel much of change, only would cost you a time ... and more content for us. There is no modern car that is easy to work on. Problem with Cortinas was preventing the body breaking in half when you jacked up one corner, apart from the fact that they were death traps in a walking pace crash.

From a selling point of view I'd just replace parts in original box pain in the arse but at least it's not a bearing replacement 👍👍👍

Well judging that second hand one for that model is around £250 to 300 I'd just replace parts and recondition box,prob most cost effective way 👍👍👍

Yeah might as well clutch slave and dual mass flywheel but going to cost a few hundreds though more extra costs

That's a 4 motion/quattro transfer box not a diff the diff inside gearbox
might be worth doing the rear main on the engine while box is out?
Don’t forget the tester can only see a small mount.. I have exposed the whole box which has revealed a lot of residue.

Yep bang on. The clutch would just be another 8/10 bolts. And then put it all back together 👌🏼

Yeah, makes sense. That other gearbox was off a golf Tdi though. Only bought it for the diff. Was was weirdly the same as the 3.2’s.
