    That .40 Sig is what I carried the majority of my career. Bought it when they let me. And I still carry it with my CCW as a retiree. Beautiful weapon!!!

    Bought mine a year ago and its my EDC fall, winter, and early spring. I wanted an earlier model without a rail, so after some searching found and bought a 1997 P229 without rail and legacy slide. Absolutely LOVE this gun!
    Theres a reason its the standard issue for the Secret Service in .357 SIG.
    Put some Grayguns springs, their ELS Trigger Bar, and SRT kit and youll be hard pressed to carry or shoot anything after that.

    @fanman8102 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Mine is set up the same way. Chambered in 40, 357 barrel, Houge grips, with SRT. I practice with 40 and carry 357 Sig. Very, very nice pistol!

    I’ve been in love with the P229 since the early 90’s when it was first introduced in .40 S&W.
    I’ve owned 6 of them. Gave 3 to my boys and I still have 3 of them. Fantastic pistols especially with the Hogue grips.
    Finding modern Kydex holsters to fit the .40 is challenging. I’ve gone through lots of them that don’t quite fit because most are made for the 9mm version.
    The Holster from Muddy River tactical fit. It was a bit tight at first but after being holstered for a couple weeks it’s perfect.
    Long live the P229. No striker fired pistol can hold a candle to it in my humble opinion, and I own several of them too.
    Nice job. You found a Diamond.

    I agree. I have a P229 Elite. It is bulky for CCW, a little bit heavy, but damn it’s still my favorite pistol. Thanks for the video sir.

    The SIG P220/225/226/228/229 series is as good as it gets. Nothing is more reliable.
    The Corbon ammo is the best. I tested it in .357SIG against Federal, Remington, Winchester, and Hornady hollow points. Corbon shot the best groups from 21' and even had less muzzle flash and recoil.

    Damn man, you got a deal. $530 with the grips, 3 mags, and the 357 barrel. Good deal man. Im looking for the same deal man, whered you find it?

      I found mine at a pawn shop where it had been in the case a long time. Pistol in 40 S&W, one 14-round mag, and a 357 SIG barrel. With tax $615.
      Barrels run about $159 to $179 depending on where you order.
      The bad part, someone had slit open the package of the barrel and swapped the 357 barrel for another 40 cal barrel. So I have two 40 cal barrels and ordered a 357 barrel.
      SIG sent me a new spring, very nice of them. The pistol had been factory reconditioned a few years ago.
      I carry 357 SIG mainly. The ammo prices quoted here means he doesn't know where to shop.
      For flat nose 40 cal, I'm paying about 31¢. For 357 flat nose 125 grain, about 48¢, and jhp about 65¢. Ballistic tip can go 80-86¢ each.
      The nice thing is, inside 20 yards, all loads have the same impact point, even 40 cal. The 357 impact about the same out as far as I've tested.

    I've got the same gun in stainless. I absolutely LOVE it!! The .40 is an awesome round. I appreciate the little extra weight of the pistol because it tames the recoil of the 40 perfectly. I love the powerful feel of the 40!!!

    I shoot .357sig in my P229, and, it recoils in a way that somehow gets me back on target quickly, when using a firm hold. .40 is just too snappy for me.

    I love this gun, BUT…I own the Sig P226 Legion (in 9mm). It may not have quite the same power of this gun but even in 9mm and being the Legion Series makes this my favorite (and best) firearm that I’ve ever owned or shot…hands down!
    I’d love to have a .40 caliber Sig too but will stick with the 226 Legion as my top choice.
    Downside is the Legion is around $1,300 but worth every penny. But another upside, it’s also in single action only.

    Ok, so you’re leaving stuff out. The shooting experience is great with the 229 in .40 because the 229 was built around the .40 cartridge. Second, you bought yours used, that’s why it has hogue grips, the extra barrel and three magazines. If you buy a new P229, standard you’ll get 2 magazines and it will come will E2 grips, unless you buy a new 229 Legion. I have more than one 229, so I know…👍🏾

    Capacity does matter and there are tons of incidents where people are still in the after taking 10+ rounds to vital organs. Also you have to remember the state a person (shooter) is in during the incident and there’s no way to replicate that feeling in training.

    • @flamezoutdamuzzle1649
      @flamezoutdamuzzle1649  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Adrenelin can be argued in this matter but when you add high pressured ammo and good shot placement to the scenario i really cant see a threat making it through the fight…how do i know? Well i used .40cal Hornandy critical duty and stopped my threat with two rounds.

    • @noelstewart9321
      @noelstewart9321 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@flamezoutdamuzzle1649 adrenaline or fight or flight is difficult to argue because you have to be put in the certain situation in order for it to kick. For instance military personnel train so much so when they need to use their skills it’s natural but it doesn’t work out that way due to all the missed opportunities in incidents even at point blank range. Yes a person can be put down with 2 hits or even 1. As history has showed us sometimes even being hit in the lungs and heart may not take a person out immediately just like in the 86 Miami shootout. Now what happens if threats multiple threats? There way too cases proving the need for as many rounds as possible because you never what threat you’re going up against.

    • @noelstewart9321
      @noelstewart9321 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@flamezoutdamuzzle1649 also .40 is good but due to the constant development of 9mm it can be just as effective. Lastly if the bigger rounds were better .45 would still be a thing but 15-18 rounds of 9mm has proven to be effective and extremely accurate then a snappy .45 or .40.
