Same gun our agency issues. We had the S&W 4006 40 cal for years and 11 years ago our Sheriff transitioned to the Sig P229 40cal. We love it. Scores went up all over the dept.. And we were told if were left the agency for whatever reason that we WILL turn it back in with THE box it came in. It has our agency name lasered on the top slide. Great gun. It's a DAK and the single action pull is 3.5 lbs.
Great channel Pete! I also got a CPO P229 in 40 S&W. Sweet shooter! It came from Newark Police Dept. Also a legacy slide and no rail, just like my sons LEO P229. I fuckin love this pistol and 700 rounds with no failures. My favorite shooter at this time.
You forgot to mention some key features. The lower frames were made in Germany. High quality and more desirable. When they introduced the .40 cal in early 90’s and Sig made the the slides beefer to handle the bigger cartridges, they kept the beefer slides on the 9mm versions which is why it has no recoil. The slides were made in US. With its higher bore axis and beefier slide; these SiGs are the best shooting 9mms out there period. For anyone wondering these are highly sought after and are what one calls early Sig. These were specifically made for LE in the 1990’s with the canted barrels and legacy slides.
lol, I think everybody you mentioned are good dudes, but Not in an EBomey way...lol that wasClassic Matt! You are a good friend Pete, thanks for the help spreading the word brother about my contest, I really appreciate your help and friendship dude! Sweet looking Sig you snatched up there for sure! Thanks for sharing! Peace, David
Hey Pete, I saw a video of yours and you talked about supporting the gun tv shows that are on and I have been trying to find that same video so I could write down all the shows and watch them all, but I cant find the video...Could you tell the list of shows to me again, or point me to the right video..thanx man I would really appreciate it..YOUR CHANNEL ROCKS btw
I know my local shop use to have P229 Police Trade-ins and they all came in a Black or Blue plastic box but written across it said "Law Enforcement". They all had the old school "Legacy" two step slide. The SIG P226 Tac Ops comes in that black box I believe...
fordxbgtfalcon I know CT State Police turned in their old school P229s that have been in service for almost 16yrs and I think they got $360 each for them. Then the unit price for the new P220R with 4 mags was $550 so that's a pretty good deal there. Holster mag carriers and ammo is separate.
On a serious note. How hard was it for you to sell your first gun? I'm new into collecting/buying and can't bring myself to part with any of my fire arms. I just can't see it happening. I'm very happy with the seven I currently have, so maybe that's why. But there's going to come a point in time where one or more are going to need a new home and I know it's going to be a hard decision to make.
Hey Pete, I can't even describe how jealous I am right now. That Sig P229 is beautiful! I had the M11-A1 and had to sell it cause of lack of work at my shitty excuse for a job. But I never liked the 90 degree ends on the barrel " hood". It looked unfinished and on the corners the " finish" was starting to come off and it was brand new. The rounded edges not only look way better but the finish looks gray, compared to mine which looked like black paint. Your Sig is fucking awesome!!!!! I guess they use a durable finish now. Awesome vid as always Pete!
My Sig P238 came in a card board box so I don't think that is an indication what gun is an LE only version. I've also read on a certain Sig forum that this is becoming more the "case". Beautiful gun and, as always, good vid.
It seems to me that the cardboard box was used by Sig to cut costs considering LE agencies typically receive guns at a discount. But the extra machining work makes up for that. Congrats on a great purchase.
Pete....Keep that Sig. I to had purchased a Sig M11 about a year ago and sent it back to sig for FTF and FTE issues. It came back with all new parts and still had problems. Got rid of it. Got a NIB LE Sig p229 off Gun Broker that was purchased by but never issued to the Flint Police Department. I have never had a misfire of any kind. I have put at least 500 rounds through it.
Very nice... I'll have to checkout the used LE guns next time my LGS has a new batch. I'm a serious fan of the Sig P series. Too bad about your M11, I bought one last year and it's been great. My favorite is the P229 .40, what a sweet shooter...
Dude can you please do a side by side comparison of the three you got there on the table sig p229 hk uspc and glock. If not which one is the thinnest width wise and general specs for concealment which is best in your opinion its looking like the usp.
CT State Police used the P229 from 1996-2012. Served them very well...So far my Mk25 has been flawless but granted haven't shot too much through it but its pretty nice. HK USP (maybe the HK45) is next on my list to get...G19 is going to be my primary carry soon. Thing works like a charm. I don't have much to say about it, nothing to look at nor is it my favorite but its a reliable tool...
I had the same bevel on the sig p229 elite (sold) - it was an older version. Basically the classic slide has the line that goes all the way down the slide and serrations that only go 1/2 way up the rear of the slide vs the new version that is more like a 226 where the slide serrations go all the way up on the rear of the slide.
Thanks Pete awesome video my neighbor has Torres gen 3 Series handguns with the safety on the trigger and downloader indicator he wants to get extra clips for it awesome video the sig is a good good wish I could afford one
The legacy slide has the old school half serrations sigs used to have instead of the full height serrations on new sigs, that's a sweeeet 229, I love my SigSauer, but next on my list is an HK45 to replace my 1911..... I wish I was able to keep all my guns but you know how it is, gotta swap out to make an end meet sometimes and my HK sickness needs a remedy.....which is an HK45 ..... Compact or full size?
You mentioned the difference in the trigger. Is it a double action only like many LE agencies use? If so, what pound pull is it? Or, is it a DA/SA like the other 226s and 229s. Had heard the LE triggers were different but didn't know with a Sig what the difference was. Have a new Enhanced Elite 226 (needed the E2 grips as my hands are too small for traditional Sig grips). Love it. Feels better than any of my Glock Gen 4, ATI Thunderbolt 45 1911, Beretta PX 4 Storm, S&W M&P and even better than my CZ 97 .45. Love all your reviews. You have GREAT taste in firearms.
Oh also Pete idk if you already own one and it's totally off subject, but the new HK45 (not the usp) is fucking amazing gun!!! I just purchased one a few weeks ago best 45 I ever owned and I'm a huge 1911 guy but the hk is in it's own league...
Oh k cause I live in Alabama and I've seen a few sigs come in that cardboard box like you have in the video. And I I wasn't sure if sig was switching to cardboard to save money or something???
The legacy slide refers to the exterior dimensions. The typical gen 2 slides have the step in the first half of the slide and the rear half is about the same width. I believe the tapered barrel is to increase reliability, might not be correct though.
My P250 came in one of those. I got frustrated cause I never find holsters that fit. Sig must've stopped making them. Mine has a 1913 rail and chambered in.45. Sig doesn't even list holsters or conversions for it. Maybe if or when they make the 320 in .45
funny you ask.. I had both P229 .40 SAS & XDm .40 3.8. I'd bought the XDm first and acquired the P229 a bit later. I carried the XDm until I got the Sig then I carried that. Like Pete said, both are relatively heavy so whichever you prefer, both are exceptional handguns.
Nice "Pistol Pete"!! 8) BTW.. The Mil com is the sh!t. I have a ton of it and sent some to Matt cause I knew he liked that same lub. You'll really like it dude!
One thing to check with your camera is the amount of memory it has. Do you have an SD/Micro SD card in there? If not, it may just be running on internal memory and maxing it out. Anyways...just wanted to throw that out there if you hadn't thought of it yet.
Pete, I recently changed from using oil to now using grease, like what you talked about here. I found it to be pretty awesome, my Glock's slide racked like butter and it seems to stick better than reg. oil. Then I saw someone suggest white lithium grease, and it is so cheap for a huge can. I've been using that and very happy. Nice Sig.
A Sig guy? Guy? lol Just poking fun. Very nice gun there Pete. I love my old 226 because it is rare nowadays. Honestly, I think the newer milled slide is stronger but mine is the original design, German made 226 & you don't see those everyday.
I don't think the box has anything to do with LE versions, I bought a Sig P250 C 9mm at Academy Sports and a Sig Pro 40s&w at Palmetto State Armoury and they both came in that same black n white type box. The difference is they both only came w/one magazine which suxs big time cause there mags are expensive. I thought it was because all the Sig quality was put into the product, not the container which was OK w/me cause I put all my boxes up in the closet.
Great gun. Freakin love Sigs!!!! Great vid!!!!
Awesome Sig Pete.looks like it fills the hand well.
You forgot to mention some key features. The lower frames were made in Germany. High quality and more desirable. I like how the guns are such an emotional experience for you.
I was looking at a .357Sig P226 w/ Rail yesterday.
Outstanding piece !
man, i really admire your truthness and realism. Cheers from Argentina.
Thanks for the review!!! I was interested in this specific model.
I guess I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online?
@Archie Darwin i would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it :)
lol, I think everybody you mentioned are good dudes, but Not in an EBomey way...lol that wasClassic Matt! You are a good friend Pete, thanks for the help spreading the word brother about my contest, I really appreciate your help and friendship dude! Sweet looking Sig you snatched up there for sure! Lucky you Pete. Great looking gun!
Took ya long enough to pull the damn gun out of the box
My Sig P226 came in the same black box. It was a special configuration 226. Black with rosewood grips.
Great video Pete.
just beautiful
Hey Pete, I saw a video of yours and you talked about supporting the gun tv shows that are on and I have been trying to find that same video so I could write down all the shows and watch them all, but I cant find the video...Could you tell the list of shows to me again, or point me to the right video..thanx man I would really appreciate it..YOUR CHANNEL ROCKS btw
Great Channel- I'm thinking about picking up the HK P2000SK .357, whats your opinion on that model and round?
Two great guys. Nice shouters.
Freaking sweet looking Shooter Bro!
That's a really beautiful SIG.
I came here to watch a video of a sig and after 3 minutes of watching with no sig I left.
I know my local shop use to have P229 Police Trade-ins and they all came in a Black or Blue plastic box but written across it said "Law Enforcement". They all had the old school "Legacy" two step slide. The SIG P226 Tac Ops comes in that black box I believe...
my good friend sells used police sig 229's. it's the gun with 3 mags, holster and two boxes of ammo for $600
fordxbgtfalcon I know CT State Police turned in their old school P229s that have been in service for almost 16yrs and I think they got $360 each for them. Then the unit price for the new P220R with 4 mags was $550 so that's a pretty good deal there. Holster mag carriers and ammo is separate.

Great video Pete, keep them coming. You might need to update the drivers for the software.
Pete, job well done. Maybe I'll see you in the shop soon.
Say hi to Mike!
Johnny Marine/USMC

Great Sig and nice video.
Are the LE models designated with a "W" in the model number? For example WE29R9TSS for the two tone P229.
I just bought this new on GB for 569 and 30 ship NIB trigger is not srt but it’s closest to 228 which I love.
CT State Police used the P229 from 1996-2012. Served them very well...So far my Mk25 has been flawless but granted haven't shot too much through it but its pretty nice. I need a workbench setup like this, absolutely badass.
thanks
Ebaumy copping it hard (as always) tonight!
Great shout out!..Nice firearms~
I had the same bevel on the sig p229 elite (sold) - it was an older version. great info thank u
Thanks Pete awesome video my neighbor has Torres gen 3 Series handguns with the safety on the trigger and downloader indicator he wants to get extra clips for it awesome video the sig is a good good wish I could afford one
I am almost positive legacy slide is the short extractor - the new sig slide has the longer Hk looking extractor
I found this same model with 3 mags in a pawn shop $575 bought it right away. Never owed a 40. My M11-a1 & p226 are both 9mm
I'm looking forward to it
So is that a used police special or a new one and in terms of price, did it cost as much as a traditional one or was it more?
Most of guns get you in love with them, but Sig Sauer do it most.
I might be wrong but I think the legacy slide has the original serrations as opposed to the newer standard where they come up higher on the slide.
I remember when you had a 229. I miss mine, I still have my stainless 226 elite though.
Lol I watched this while carrying my P229 enhanced elite. I wanted the m11a1 didn't realize you had issues with it pete.
Awesome looking pistol. I'm jealous
What happened to the stainless sig with those cherry grips?
The legacy slide has the old school half serrations sigs used to have instead of the full height serrations on new sigs, that's a sweeeet 229, I love my SigSauer, but next on my list is an HK45 to replace my 1911..... I wish I was able to keep all my guns but you know how it is, gotta swap out to make an end meet sometimes and my HK sickness needs a remedy.....which is an HK45 ..... Compact or full size?
Nice pistol, what are your thoughts on a p226?
What are your thoughts on the beretta 92s Police trade-ins???? Thanks
pretty sweet!
So what's the EXACT model number of this weapon? I am certified law enforcement but love to utilize this same model for my EDC.
AC great Vidio, quick ? u like a good HK or a good Sig. which one and why? stay safe
Sweet sig, great review Pete.
Oh also Pete idk if you already own one and it's totally off subject, but the new HK45 (not the usp) is fucking amazing gun!!! I just purchased one a few weeks ago best 45 I ever owned and I'm a huge 1911 guy but the hk is in it's own league...
My 229 has the bevel and the rail. Came with factory sights that I put sig night sights on. Al's ok installed short trigger and short reset trigger.
Nice watch pete, waht kind is it ?
Love the new sig!!! & Matt is a cool cat, tha guy has a ton of common sence... which isn't that common anymore.
Matt is definitely going to be referred to as the "lube man" from this point forward.. awesome Sig man. Great video.
lol
Very cool
Good video and nice gun, man. On your 3 guns, I love my FNS-9. I love that gun and it is stupid easy to shoot.
Double Action scored big with you Pete! Free advertising and you buy a new gun every week lol!
Oh k cause I live in Alabama and I've seen a few sigs come in that cardboard box like you have in the video. And I I wasn't sure if sig was switching to cardboard to save money or something???
The legacy slide uses the old short extractor vs. the long extractor on the new P229
a cardboard box? vs. a nice hard plastic case?
great sig man
How do you special order one of these pistols it's a pretty " old" firearm they don't sell them in that plane configuration.
My NYPD E-26 came in a blue plastic Sig case. Maybe its just the classic series.
love both of my sigs...P228 W. German made and my P229R
Nice looking pistol bro, I'd love to get one of those too.
The legacy slide refers to the exterior dimensions. The typical gen 2 slides have the step in the first half of the slide and the rear half is about the same width. I believe the tapered barrel is to increase reliability, might not be correct though.
Christian Moroski The new slides are Shitty!!! Made by obama supporters, Tirone
My P250 came in one of those. I got frustrated cause I never find holsters that fit. Sig must've stopped making them. Mine has a 1913 rail and chambered in.45. Sig doesn't even list holsters or conversions for it. Maybe if or when they make the 320 in .45
That is cool bro, and hey I can tell you how to solve that camera issue I use sony cams and there is a possible easy fix
how
I just bought one , looks real nice...
sweet gun but honestly would have thought they would give some sort of special hard case for LE
In Your Opinion, Is Sig Or HK Better???
Good video, not sure about all of the ebomey references. Could someone please get me up to speed?
That's a bad ass gun man.
thanks buddy
I'm trying to decide on a good carry gun, would a 229 be a good choice? I'm trying to decide between that or an XDM 3.8
well there both heavy so id go Sig
funny you ask.. I had both P229 .40 SAS & XDm .40 3.8. I'd bought the XDm first and acquired the P229 a bit later. I carried the XDm until I got the Sig then I carried that. Like Pete said, both are relatively heavy so whichever you prefer, both are exceptional handguns.
with the glitch issue could be with the memory card you are using in the camera
Nice "Pistol Pete"!! 8) BTW.. The Mil com is the sh!t. I have a ton of it and sent some to Matt cause I knew he liked that same lub. You'll really like it dude!
One thing to check with your camera is the amount of memory it has. Do you have an SD/Micro SD card in there? If not, it may just be running on internal memory and maxing it out. Anyways...just wanted to throw that out there if you hadn't thought of it yet.
Hey anytime brother!!!!!
Nice sig!

grease feels better slide seems smoother
agreed
you got rid of your shield?
A Sig guy? Guy? lol Just poking fun. Very nice gun there Pete. I love my old 226 because it is rare nowadays. Honestly, I think the newer milled slide is stronger but mine is the original design, German made 226 & you don't see those everyday.
Nice gun. My P228 is calling. Gonna have to go shoot it this weekend.
Cool firearms.
Sweet!
I don't think the box has anything to do with LE versions, I bought a Sig P250 C 9mm at Academy Sports and a Sig Pro 40s&w at Palmetto State Armoury and they both came in that same black n white type box. I thought it was because all the Sig quality was put into the product, not the container which was OK w/me cause I put all my boxes up in the closet.
You could also include the Beretta 92
NICE!!
When I first glanced at the title of the video, I immediately think "rage comic"
What the hell is wrong with me?
Sig Sauer shoe box
Not sure I've ever seen a LEO with an XD.
Pdiddy just bought one New 579 this Gun with front serrated slide
