I have a question about the automatic transmission setup. I have a built 5EAT , 2008 OBXT, with HD plates and sleeves re-enforced, as well as a modified valve body. The trans was specially rebuilt to handle 8-900 hp. My understanding is that the trans (jayco) was used by many auto companies, like Nissan, in their Maxima, and the Pathfinder, and who’s only real weakness was that it was given a “Socker mom” tune, making is slow on the engagement of is clutches, providing a smoother, less noticeable shift. This in turn, with Subaru’s hi torque in their turbo and 6 cylinder engines, eventually killed the 3 to 5 clutches and packs prematurely. This was remedied by the alteration of the valve body, increasing line pressures and increasing speed of clutch engagement and release. But a question arose as to the center differential, being full time engaged, with bias towards the rear at approximately 40/60% towards the rear using a torsion style differential gearing. Is it possible to use a dccd controller or dccd’s components, mimicking the operation of the STI 6 speed in control of front / rear bias control in the automatic? It was difficult to find any more information on the 5EAT differential online. And the builder only provided the functioning transmission to great satisfaction. I have been unable to reach the builder for answers to this question. I was hoping that your group may have answers for me in this regard. Anything that you can explain to me would be greatly appreciated. Really enjoy following your channel, and find your approaches to mix and match with this line of car’s unique on TH-cam. Thanks you for sharing you knowledge. And thanks for your possible help in my concern.
What a knowledgeable bomb type of question! I love it! What a great question! Do you have the transmission number for your setup!? We have some Foresters that are AT that we will be parting out and if they have the same one as in your car we could possibly take it apart and do some comparing like this video. Thanks for the question and great info!
Not sure to be honest but if you have the transmission code you can use this website to compare. www.rallispec.com/downloads/Transmission%20ID%20Chart_Public.pdf
