Yes please post all of it, even without cuts or edits, most appreciated.
Yes thank you 🙏🏽
Thanks for doing the video Kevin!
Thanks for the video!
Kevin the EZ30R oil pump hex bolts are an odd size like 4.4mm thats why they strip out. I use a Torx T30 bit and tap it into the oil pump bolts to easily remove them. Saves swarf and debris from drilling. Nice work keep up the EZ30 content
This is great info! Appreciate your input! I plan to order new ones from Subaru and possibly the correct size so I can share that info and not have to drill them suckers out😂
Thank you!
This is a great in-depth well delivered video. I'm really happy I stumbled across this channel, keep up the great content!
@@killink7 Thanks for watching! More to come🙂👍🏻
I've just done a photo side by side and it almost looks like you could do 30D heads on a 30R block with the 30R timing cover? This was my first idea for doing a built motor in my car and doing a hybrid motor between the two since my car has the 30D turbo setup. 30D heads do flow more air than the 30R heads and don't have the chronic rasp either. The only real difference that would need rectification is that the 30R has an extra lower oil passage in the block which wouldn't be too hard to blank off.
Head swapping isn't possible on ez30 as D and R have different headgaskets and oil passages
The 30d cams arnt as efficient as the 30r. I dont see the point, but there is data out there that shows that 30d heads flow more but no point with stock cams and even built i feel like the 30r is the motor worth building
@@connorwhelan3403 read what I said again, not hard to block the passages off. Same idea as close deck inserts
I've heard people swap out the hex bolts on the oil pump for normal 10mm bolts but not sure what the thread pitch is or if the heads need to be tapered... if you've done that in the past that would be neat to know how to change them
Love the long format teardown! What fuel are the JDM BPE/BLE's tuned for? I imported a JDM BPE Spec B from Japan last year and have been running it on 99RON in the UK, and have been informed by my garage thats its been pinging its heads off! I'm putting Raptors on it to see if I can make it stop.
They ping their heads off anyway due to the header and catalytic converter design, they're heavily restrictive and choke the engine. Best thing to do is to put some aftermarket headers and ideally upgraded cats on and that should make it go away. Skid Factory has a video on this.
@@Jakanddaxter1999 I'm doing exactly that. It's alarming because it's highly audible pinging under very low road speed/load, I thought it was chain rattle. I've seen Al's videos on it, I'm just suprised at the severity of it. I've had to add a lot of octane booster to get it to stop, I've driven another JDM 3.0R identical to mine and it doesn't ping like that.
The 99RON should be fine. Typically we don’t see the pinging unless you put a lower octane fuel or you try to tune it without headers.
Try some upper engine cleaner too, might help shift some carbon deposits if its dirty inside
@@Jakanddaxter1999 Shouldn't be dirty, it's maintained properly and was previously to me importing it. Any standard carbon deposits within the cylinder shouldn't push compression up to the point of heavy pinging. It's stopped now I've added an octane booster to the tank and the stock exhaust is getting ripped off next week.
EJ20G vs EJ20K will be good if you can have them together.
With jdm bugeyes being available to the U.S market in 2025, could we get a video on all the different STI trims (S VERSION, ProDrive, Limited, S202, etc.)
Yes!
