I’ve ridden this bike-it needs to be released as a dual sport as well. It’s a fantastic engine. Fueliing is a little fluffy like all big cylinder singles at low revs, but it’s fast and has a great spread of power with decent throttle response.
This is my 7th motorcycle and so far my favorite. I owned a 690 SMC R prior to my 698 Hypermono and the 698 is the better bike in practically every objective and subjective metric.
@@jonaskeim3257 Not really. It likes being ridden a certain way. It likes being above 5000 RPMs and the smoothness and quick revving nature of the engine paired with the close ratio gearing makes sure you’re in the always in the powerband for aggressive riding. Engine revs so quick that you’re in the meat of the torque band before you even know it. I wouldn’t say this bike is for people who want to lug their engines around at low to mid RPMs. The engine is made to spin at higher RPMs. Give it what it wants. You want more torque? Rev it out. But it revs so quick and so fast that low end torque doesn’t actually matter much with this bike. If the KTM is more like a dirt bike, then the Ducati is the sportbike in comparison.
Sure better in every ways according to you who rides a motard but not big into wheelies lol. Get the L twin hypermotard next time and you'll see how its alot better than the mono lmao 🤣
took ur time doing the review.. great bike and yes a premium price (which the kids cant afford) but its so easy to ride. Got one, smashed it up and ordered another 😂
I would love to see a Monster incarnation of this engine, but the way the market is these days, it seems like an adv and scrambler will be released first...
I have a Honda CRF 150L It is a lot of fun for just a small engine And my body weight is about 200 lb So I can imagine how much fun it is to ride the new Ducati
@@williamrae9954 and noise ... to the point that they needed a plastic baffle/shroud around the cylinder to meet Euro frigging 5 standards. Plus a big ass can as carried on the 690/700/701 would look quite shitty on a tiny bike like the 698 mono. Very nice curves / good looking from behind.

My Yamaha BW50 scooter would endo all day, but the 698's front brembo really is delicious ... with just one finger or two. The 698 begs to go fast. The brembos, rosso 4s, and geometry do conspire to egg one on. The 698 reminds me way more of my long lost RZ350 than my 690 Enduro, but the brake is so much nicer than the RZs crappy dual caliper setup.
As closest compétition the 937 cc hypermotard and not the 690 SMC-R, seriously ?
Classic example of "Access-journalism".
Many testers still give the 690 Kato the win. And if you want to hooligan spoked wheels are a must.
Wheelie assist is only available with the full Termignoni exhaust system, it isn’t a standard feature.
typical VAG group tactic. Oh well

Can't believe those arc shaped cables above the dash are meant to be that way. Worst cable management ever. Jesus.

Do you feel that the hypermotard has like on the paper less torque?

This is true for a road bike but for a stunt and offroad smc would be better
@@MrRGM10 I’m not big on stunting and wheelies and I prefer cornering over tricks and stunts so the Ducati suits me a lot better.

Maybe not that easy then?
It sounds incredibly smooth for a single.

how tall are you?
Could this be the next gen scrambler engine?
Vitpilen/Svartpilen style?

How's that square? Bore and stroke aren't the same...
You needed rain mode to get used to a 77 HP / 46 ft lb bike? LOL. And it is not "super square" it is "over square"

Wait did he just say it's biggest competition is the 950 hypermotard? That bike's not even in a similair class wtf.
For me is just to expensive for what it is, Aprilia should do Supermoto on RS457 platform ❤❤❤
Save the cash and get a dorsoduro is imho a better 360 degrees bike, considering the two cylinders

Why does a single cylinder bike need a dual exhaust?
Also Dominator and XT was the same, there is an higher compression, due to the size of the piston
