I'm on the fence about getting this. But it has a solo mode. I was wondering what you thought of how this was like Firefly. I have a video "STAR TREK The Motion Picture Board Game Milton Bradley 1979" that uses interesting mechanisms with a modular board showing lines and dots for movement and an interesting mechanism for visiting unknown planets using card decks and mission cards you try to match up. I don't have the best presentation voice but scrub thru the vid to see what I mean. Update: I got Outer rim and like it alot. I've been playin gwith game green's custom AI decks on BGG, starting with thematic ships and second elvel patrols. I mixed the board up once but didn't care for it. I played one game where Han ignored contacts in favor of Planet encoutner cards and that was fun. I place discarded cards faceup under the deck so when they're all faceup I know when to shuffle them.
I own Firefly and Xia so been hesitant to get this one, a little afraid it will replace Firefly for me. I love the Firefly theme but the game takes up so much space and takes too long to play also, kinda wish they had done this with the Firefly theme. :-) I may have to give it a try.
what all the videos about the game fail to address, is that the game is a major asset flip. Most of the artwork and iconography and even the dice are 1:1 taken from X-Wing. Pretty pathetic for a 65$ game...

It may replace one of my all-time favorites, Merchants and Marauders. It hasn’t yet, but it’s close. Completely replaces Xia and Firefly, for me.
Love this game didn't like Firefly. Just want more cards and encounters pronto!!!!
What about Fireffff....nevemind...you covered it.
Wootini!

Love this game, not a fan of Firefly game. I thought the same thing with the feel of Arkham Horror with the encounters.
