Kyle and OOS team made a great move to bring Francie in for reviewing the VinFast VF8. Thank you Francie and Jordan for the lovely and informative video about the VF8 and the Tesla MY Performance. Jordan did a fine job filming beautiful footages of the VF8. I wonder how did you both keep the EVs spotless clean throughout the long trip. The TMY is hip and futuristic looking. Love Tesla responsive screen and detailed navigation/driving app. The VF8 design is very sexy and the deep ocean color looks very unique. VF8 interior design looks luxurious at night with the ambient color lights. I envied every time Jordan showed off Kyle’s MY charging cover popping up on its own, as well as Tesla’s flawless charging process. To Francie: As an owner of a VF8 Plus City Edition 2023 for the past 11 months in Sacramento, California, I can related to your excitement and frustration with your VF8 in the early days. I like the fact that you always spoke from your heart and shared your true user experience which is very valuable to the public, especially the general public, many of whom are not familiar with electric car. I appreciated that you often reminded viewers (and your driving partners) that you wanted to share your own voice -- to include in the videos the VF8 unique experience with its comfort, beauty, and performance strength, along with its software imperfection. Your big smiles throughout the video showed your enjoyment and comfortable with your VF8. I can tell your dog is very happy in the back seats because it’s very roomy. What you experienced in this video is what most new non-Tesla EV owners would experience in variety of levels in the beginning, learning new tech and new experience of driving a high tech EV and the somewhat challenge with adaption to public charging. I have witnessed many EV owners from major brands struggled in the charging stations with connection and app errors, and in many cases, because new owners not yet familiar with the EV’s features or the app settings. It’s a good idea to have all major EV charging apps installed and setup on your phone and keep the apps up to date, so you don’t have to download and install the apps (in order to charge your EV) in the middle of nowhere with weak internet. I always used VinFast app but sometimes I have to use EA or EVgo apps if VinFast app have issues, such as not recognizing the charge station I am at. I look forward to your future videos about home charging experience. I had a few connecting issues with home charging in the early days, but it’s been stable and no issues after I installed a power divider/stabilizer unit (we have 2 EVs). ADAS: I also experienced the self driving not available a few times while the car in operation: my body or head moved away too long while searching for stuffs in the other seats, messed with the settings on the screen too long while driving, when someone in the back seat moving a lot and not using seatbelt, during heavy rains, wet road surfaces, low sun angles with bright reflections from the ground - which may interfered with the camera’s ability to collect data from lane lines. It’s better not to use ADAS in these road conditions for safety reason anyway. As far as the software/hardware on the VF8, these are items on my current wish list: 1. Reduce loading time for 360-Camera app to 30 seconds (currently ~100 seconds) 2. Lock user settings (sometimes settings for HUD and lane keeping assist go back to default settings after operation) 3. Higher resolution screen with faster response time 4. Higher resolution for all the cameras, especially rear cams 5. Include L/R signal arrows in the HUD 6. Adjustable blinker signal sound (current volume is too loud and annoying) 7. Driver door handle lock/unlock button is clunky and sometimes hard to use, need to be more responsive 8. Key fob/keyless remote is too big and the design is not cool looking - A credit-card key like Tesla is cool 9. Back row seat back panels are way too heavy, a pain to fold and unfold manually 10. Power folding for the back row seat? Other than a few app resets during the early months, which required me to get out of the car and locked it for 10 minutes, I (and my family) have been enjoying our VF8 City Edition everyday. I am lucky that I never had a major issue with my VF8 that prevented me from driving. Again, thank you for sharing your VF8 user journey. Please let me know if you are interested in having me as a guest on one of your future VF8 podcasts. I’d be happy to share with you and the public my VF8 user experience. Great I hope you and Francie would gather a lot of experience using VF8 cars for the community, I actually don't think that there are unforeseen cases, for example, when using ADAS, if the person sitting behind is not wearing a seat belt, this feature will not let you activate it, but in Francie's case, sitting Behind is a dog, Rafiki not wearing a seat belt and can run and jump, so ADAS is lazy and does not want to operate In addition, I also learn knowledge from others, such as the feedback: "Have a Vietnamese-American programmer responded to Vinfast that ADDAS mode still works when he is not in the driver's seat and this is not allowed in the US. Vinfast then updated to... " So ADAS not turn off completely when "not activated on screen", it is still somewhat responsible for the handover between Adas and controlling by driver Thank you all

I’m in the middle of a road trip in my VF8. Raleigh NC to Beech Mountain Resort. Averaged 2.7 mi/kWh on the way up; didn’t need to stop to recharge. From the 200 mile trip, it appears to have a highway range of around 250 miles at 70+ mph. Temps dropped into the teens today; my battery temp was 23.8 degrees Fahrenheit at the beginning of today and my efficiency dropped to 2.3 mi/kWh. But overall the vehicle has performed well.

This is a great TH-cam series on a brand new to the US consumer. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Very informative and the vinfast brand and American consumers can benefit from this series. I’m intrigued.
This car is used a lot in Vietnam and is very popular, due to its low price and very good quality. However, there are a few small errors but they are not worth worrying about. Overall, this car is worth buying.
Seems like the Vinfast is much more improved from the last year model Kyle tested (and lambasted) but there's still teething issues with software. Still not a bad effort.
I've really enjoyed watching this 2-parter - a bit less frenetic than Kyle's road trips and felt very genuine and thoughtful. Francie, you are coming into your own as a OOS on-air personality!
Francie I like the color of your car and you even wore a green sweater to go along with it. Nice road trip video. It is a nice 1st ev I still have my 2012 leaf that can only go 30 miles between charges . Jordan needs to appreciate his opportunities of driving so many nice cars . It is a first attempt for vin fast and should not be compared to tesla. It was nice of Kyle to do this . We need more under 50 k cars. Keep up the good work Francie
I traded in my 2012 Leaf in 2022 for a Mach E Premium long range. It still had the original tires!😂 35k miles and 35 miles of range remaining. It was the perfect city runabout.
What I'm impressed with is she seems like an EV nerd as well. She was getting footage of all the right stuff: battery temp, preconditioning, charging speeds, and so on.
Look what happen with the GM Blazer, great to see that Vinfast was able to deliver a EV that could do 800 mile trip without any real issue, so what are you doing GM, that is the question as they have been building EV for a lot longer than Vinfast and yet many car reviewers have had major issues with the Blazer!
Great Video. Thoroughly enjoyed parts 1 & 2 Look forward to seeing more from Francie with this car, she is so bubbly she must be great to be around, and did not panic about her odd experiences with this car she just took it all in her stride. :)
Francie the reason it stops self driving is because you keep taking your eyes off the road. It's doing what it is suppose to do. (yes the sun as well) VinFast adding Charging stops, the Bolt and ID 4 do the same thing ..just drive past it.They are just suggestions you had way more range than need to get to your destination . Overall the VinFast though looks very very nice for the money (on the lease) . $250 a month for 3 years for a EV with as much if not more range the the Model Y .. hell yes. It looks nice, rides , nice , good range , charging speed is fine for most . They just need to get the software bugs sorted out.. all EVs had or have software issue.. the Blazer is ona stop sell right now because of software issues and GM has paused the equinox sales for the same issue. Francie also do lke Kyle does and get to as low soc as you feel comfortable before charging , you'll get much fast charging , perheating the battery makes little difference in charging speed if you are pulling in at 35-50% SOC Jordan is Elon playing games with the Tesla charging numbers? Why is it saying 35 minutes to 80% when you are at 35% soc ? MY ID 4 takes 30-35 minutes (from 15%) to get to 75-80% even on cold days and slower charging rate . 100-135kW . Teslas looks are outdated , everyone has one , nothing special about them anymore. Francie a newbie ev driver in the VinFast with slightly larger battery was able to drive just as fast , just as far as the Model Y. AND it looks like a real car ! Like to see what the VinFast gets on the Magic Dock when it's in Colorado..assuming similar ot ID 4 135kW.
If I owned a similar VinFast car... I would install a small lip at the top of the screen to help with sunshine and screen reading. Thank you for a great video. It was a bit like being on a roadtrip with you. 😀
New road trip team!! Love so many parts of this. The blinker, the vin, the fun, the doggies. Interesting car definitely not for me since I do road trips often. Hope they can do the physics fix on a OTA update. 😢
Wow!! The last few minutes sum up why I take YT car reviews with a “grain of salt.” Jordan rips the car that Francie just drove 800 miles in with an optimistic but transparent comments. I’ll take Francie’s review style all day.
I'm wondering if cleaning the cameras would help the auto-driving. This Vinfast V8 is quite interesting. Seems like a nice ride. Any of these new EVs with software & apps need ton of catch up to Tesla. Auto industry has also now become a software required industry. They are all going take years of headaches to improve. Thanks for all the reporting!

thank you and team have give Vinfast a chance, as Vietnamese, we are all appriciate and very happy with this, please help to give your comment to Vinfast for their improvement. Together we can go futher.
Honestly, for the price/lease, it's really a nice looking vehicle. I think a lot of the 'kinks' may be resolved with time and updates. Time will tell, so I am interested with your future vids. :)
Update: I see the reason for this case, @NGUYEN-TUAN-1975: "From 1:00:00 to 1:00:51 , 51 second without holding the wheel, no warning messages. Normal case, VF8 will pop up every 15 -17 seconds, and at least 3 times beforce adas stop. So, back a few minutes, i recognize you dont choose warning message, you choose OFF." So Vinfast's self-driving feature requires you to hold the steering wheel every 30 seconds Have a Vietnamese-American programmer responded to Vinfast that ADDAS mode still works when he is not in the driver's seat, and this is not allowed in the US. Vinfast then updated to only turn on ADDAS when it determines there is someone in the driver's seat. I think these problems may come from the car's sensors or cameras.
If your vehicle is giving you a lot of problems take it to the dealer and ask them to check the computer or the chips or the fuse it could be one of them
Great video and loved how it was edited... it seems the brand has a way to go in the EV world. Will be interested to see how this brand goes in the future....
From 1:00:00 to 1:00:51 , 51 second without hold the wheel, no warning messages. Normal case, VF8 will pop up every 15-17 seconds, and at least 3 times beforce adas stop. So, back a few minutes, at 58:03, i recognize you dont choose warning message, you choose OFF.
When the sun is directly shining on the front, it's blinding the cameras and the ADAS will temporarily stop working and the driver will have to handle the car himself/herself. It's a safety feature that one just has to accept.
I love the vintage Out of Spec vibe: an EV road trip with dog(s)! I bet the Vinfast charge door opens to the front because when they tried having it open to the back it got ripped off in the wind once when the door opened while driving.
So glad you got an EV. Good thing you are a patient person and persist with the bugs of a new model. I wonder if cleaning the exterior cameras might help with highway assistance? I hope they do lots of updates and address your issues
One other thing I'd like to add about the VinFast is its a bit of a retro Angular/muscular look getting away from the "girly" looks of cars .... I mean look at the Tesla ..nothing about says testosterone.. I think the VinFast is going to do very well with the "men should be men "crowd. (The no way in H am I driving a Prius/Tesla people)
front end reminds me of a Dacia Duster or a Renault. Doesn't look bad at all, it's different, I do like the rear end. Almost hyundai. I'm sure once the bugs are resolved it'll make for a real nice daily around towner. Now sure about long distance road trips. If they can get the charging down to 15-20 minutes at a time, you could make an argument for rest stops. Loving the series, keep it up.
Great road trip. Francine, you’re really positive and enthusiastic. Jordan, you’re more like I am, pragmatic and blunt. What a team! Hope to see you both a lot more. Lotsa love to all ❤❤❤
Alabama state capital is Montgomery, by the way. With respect to the charge cover door, rear hinging it would have made it a "suicide door", catching the wind if you forget to close and latch it. Side charge doors will always be hinged at the front.
Im wondering at 20:14 may be her hand cover and so blocks the camera ?? When you hold the steering wheel with one hand and turn it up, the hand will block the camera from looking at you. If camera not see the driver face, VF may not allow auto pilot ??
I wonder if the front camera needs a hood to help it combat lens flare? Clearly the self-driving feature is half-baked in this VinFast. The relative inefficiency v.s. the Tesla is also unhelpful. But honestly this is a better review than I anticipated it receiving.
The self driving disconnect problem seems very annoying. I'm wondering if they rushed the car out to you too fast and didn't clean the outside cameras properly. Did you wipe down the cameras at each charging stop? There might be a film of some sort on one of the cameras or bugs or something. I would suggest keeping two microfiber cloths in the car. One for cleaning exterior cameras and radar and the other for those pesky fingerprints all over the display screen. I love the head up display. Lots of info available on the screens when finally connected properly. Looking forward to Francie's future adventures with Spring Roll. I really appreciate Jordan for stepping up and getting Francie home safely. He's wonderful and a true gentleman. Not that Francie couldn't handle this situation herself as she's proven to be quite capable. But I'm old school (VERY) and became very concerned for Francie and her furbaby's safety. Kudos, Francie. I'm a big fan. Keep it coming, please.
20:14 may be her hand blocked the camera when passed between camera and face When you hold the steering wheel with one hand and turn it up, the hand will block the camera from looking at you. If camera not see the driver face, VF may not allow auto pilot. You can see clips on @superNamn channel , he drives ADAS on VF8 everyday
So it does not only happen here in Viet Nam, people around the world don't check/read the handbook for using the car, I am not sure if I should hate myself or the Manufacturer :D

At 8:23 you talked about wanting a battery preconditioning button (which would be great) but would have provided no help with this charge. You only drove how far to the charger? Also stop driving in Eco mode if you want to warm the battery more.
Francis says gleefully “I’m optimistic and positive” which I agree with but Jacob… dude you bring to mind a term Nattering Nabob of Negativism. (Said with 😊❤)
I would have to carry screen cleaner with me if I had one of those VINFast vehicles. Those screen pick up a lot of fingerprints. I’m surprised you could read the screen.
Every 15-17 seconds, Vinfast will pop up a warning message to check driver, so you have to take a wheel to accept to continue. After 2 yellow messages and 1 red yellow message, ADAS will make alarms sound to warn you beforce VF8 stop ADAS. In Fancie case 1:00:30, i dont see any message to remind.
Seems there is somewhat of interest in the Vinfast based on the views in the short timeframe compare to other content with less views. It's a new company to the EV market in US so I feel there is much prejudice towards the car. I feel the guy in the video and Kyle "try" to be funny by knocking it down. Let's give the company a chance, be truthful and see where it goes. I own a Tesla and by far I will never consider that "luxury" however, engineering and technology is phenomenal in Teslas.

YES! She's been kept away on the podcast channel for too long. The viewers want more of her on the other ones (including this one)!
More Rafriki growing up like CHAMP !!
Francie is a breath of fresh air, glad you guys made it ok,hopefully the VF8 improves with OTA Updates, thanks guys 👍💪😉
Loving the VF8 content! “I don’t know if you can OTA update physics” is a stellar quote too!
Quote of the day 👍🏆🏆👑

A nice conclusion to this road trip. Vin Fast did amazing this entire trip.
This is a great TH-cam series on a brand new to the US consumer. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Very informative and the vinfast brand and American consumers can benefit from this series.
I’m intrigued.
After looking at several Vinfast I can say that the paint quality is much better than Tesla.
Kyle needs to post his trip to Florida competing chargers
I'm from Vietnam. Hello everyone from the USA
✌️✌️✌️
This car is used a lot in Vietnam and is very popular, due to its low price and very good quality. However, there are a few small errors but they are not worth worrying about. Overall, this car is worth buying.
Seems like the Vinfast is much more improved from the last year model Kyle tested (and lambasted) but there's still teething issues with software. Still not a bad effort.
Vinfast đã lắng nghe và khắc phúc rất nhiều
Vinfast has a line of products from 15K $ to 200k $ (VinBus e-bus). I actualy love vf8 and vf7 plus. Adorable Vf6 for my lovely lady.
I traded in my 2012 Leaf in 2022 for a Mach E Premium long range. It still had the original tires!😂 35k miles and 35 miles of range remaining. It was the perfect city runabout.
Green is the new black
Kyle: Where, how, did you find Francie? She’s smart, lively, well spoken and cheerful. What an asset to your team!
Total agree! Francie is great!
Jordan and Francie have some great roadtrip vibes and chemistry. Also, great editing and music selection.
Agreed.
What I'm impressed with is she seems like an EV nerd as well. She was getting footage of all the right stuff: battery temp, preconditioning, charging speeds, and so on.
I couldn’t have said it better
Attractive car! Fun road trip from a viewer standpoint. Thank you for taking us along for the ride :)
Love the tail light bar AND the front one! Unique. But I’m also 61!
👍
Vinfast should watch it. It's a free feedback for them 😊😊
I am sure they do !
Yes, I am watching it. Tks Bro
Francie also do lke Kyle does and get to as low soc as you feel comfortable before charging , you'll get much fast charging , perheating the battery makes little difference in charging speed if you are pulling in at 35-50% SOC
Jordan is Elon playing games with the Tesla charging numbers?
An appliance 😅. Hope I have a good experience and better once I get hold of the new 2024 VF8
Loved every second of this trip! Francie and Jordan are THEM!!!
I had more fun watching than I thought I would! Must be your personality!! 😊
109%
Awesome one Francie!!
I love ADAS cruise control system
Spring Roll is definitely a unique name for an EV.
Yes and I love it
Pourquoi pas
I love the light bars in front and the back of VF8
Living in Memphis I am going to have to look for this car!
Memphis egypt
If I owned a similar VinFast car... I would install a small lip at the top of the screen to help with sunshine and screen reading.
Thank you for a great video. It was a bit like being on a roadtrip with you. 😀
Francie is just straight up incredible! JS
Overall design language reminded me of the mdx. Great video, keep em coming.
Yes,you are right about the MDX ,
Thank You Francie for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
Road trip! Sometimes it's just about the journey and the company along the way. Thanks you guys...
Great job, you two. Enjoyed the video.
20:14 may be her hand over and so blocks the camera
When you hold the steering wheel with one hand and turn it up, the hand will block the camera from looking at you.
If camera not see the driver face, VF may not allow auto pilot

believe in the US government and European countries. believe in NCAP's star count. American consumer and lover of America, should completely believe that a car sold in the US is a quality car and NCAP is the high standard of all car manufacturers around the world, instead of believing in A group of traitors who left their homeland in 1975 are calling day and night to boycott the car because it is made in Vietnam..like you
I think the car looks fine. There are other cars I think look better, but it is one I would not mind driving.
I will be very interested in seeing the actual charging curve.
Awesome content! Tesla is so yesterday. LOL. Francie, I hope you find a nice VinFast community soon.
It seems like Vinfast is doing better than the Fisker Ocean. Marques Brownlee's video of that vehicle wasn't too flattering.
thank you and team have give Vinfast a chance, as Vietnamese, we are all appriciate and very happy with this, please help to give your comment to Vinfast for their improvement. Together we can go futher.

Good job tytyty
Of course you will make it. People in Vietnam have been driving this for almost 2 years 😂😂
Yep, the VF8 and Francie & Jordan is good stuff.
Wonder if they BOTH like fig newton’s
Honestly, for the price/lease, it's really a nice looking vehicle. I think a lot of the 'kinks' may be resolved with time and updates. Time will tell, so I am interested with your future vids. :)

We stopped at the Pilot station in Georgia just a few weeks back. I really like those setups. Much better than EA in my experience.
So, back a few minutes, i recognize you dont choose warning message, you choose OFF."
So Vinfast's self-driving feature requires you to hold the steering wheel every 30 seconds
Have a Vietnamese-American programmer responded to Vinfast that ADDAS mode still works when he is not in the driver's seat, and this is not allowed in the US. Vinfast then updated to only turn on ADDAS when it determines there is someone in the driver's seat. I think these problems may come from the car's sensors or cameras.
Francis is great and a natural for this job
Francie and Jordan make a great team for a road trip video.
It seems that the Vinfast EV is not as bad as I thought
I’m impressed, an Out of Spec video and the B-Roll was used. Nice touch. :)
I’m impressed with the car considering it’s a new model from a company entering one of the most difficult markets in the world.
If your vehicle is giving you a lot of problems take it to the dealer and ask them to check the computer or the chips or the fuse it could be one of them
Well done Vinfast
Từ Việt Nam tôi đang dõi theo hành trình của hai bạn ! Chúc các bạn có một ngày vui vé ! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Francie, your dog is awesome. More Rafiki please 🙂
Great video and loved how it was edited... it seems the brand has a way to go in the EV world. Will be interested to see how this brand goes in the future....
Loving the new production style!
Don’t get used to it!!
@@KyleConner Why so?
@@Hoa240 If Kyle edits the video, you won't get this style, only if Jordan does. :D

When the sun is directly shining on the front, it's blinding the cameras and the ADAS will temporarily stop working and the driver will have to handle the car himself/herself. It's a safety feature that one just has to accept.
beautiful car , Beautiful dog plus beautiful owner .
I love the vintage Out of Spec vibe: an EV road trip with dog(s)! I bet the Vinfast charge door opens to the front because when they tried having it open to the back it got ripped off in the wind once when the door opened while driving.
Francie and Jordan make a great team for road trip videos.
BTW, Jordan, Montgomery is the Alabama state capital, not Birmingham.
i love Vinfast vf8
More Francie and Jordan content! Great vibes ☮️
So glad you got an EV. Good thing you are a patient person and persist with the bugs of a new model. I wonder if cleaning the exterior cameras might help with highway assistance? I hope they do lots of updates and address your issues
Why be patient with crappy software?
It is the third largest EV Automaker in market cap. Not that bad
Loving the VF8 content. I'm from Japan. Hello everyone from the USA
Im wondering at 20:14 may be her hand cover and so blocks the camera ??
When you hold the steering wheel with one hand and turn it up, the hand will block the camera from looking at you.
If camera not see the driver face, VF may not allow auto pilot ??
Since the car was on while you were charging, I wonder if it factored that into your average speed... Another bug for them to fix!
I wonder if the front camera needs a hood to help it combat lens flare? Clearly the self-driving feature is half-baked in this VinFast. The relative inefficiency v.s. the Tesla is also unhelpful.
But honestly this is a better review than I anticipated it receiving.
You can see clips from one of VF8 drivers in CA, @superNamn channel, he drives VF8 with ADas everyday

That was the second Tesla at EA. I heard salvage title cars may not have access to Tesla Superchargers. Maybe that's the case.
Maybe they were doing a Video about charging aTesla ..I hear thats a thing these days ;)
I’d love to see a slow charging Race To Vegas with a VF8, Bolt, bz4x, Niro, and 4680 Model Y….😂 Please can you make it happen!
So it does not only happen here in Viet Nam, people around the world don't check/read the handbook for using the car, I am not sure if I should hate myself or the Manufacturer :D
The Vietnamese-founded carmaker is part of Vingroup, a conglomerate with interests in retail, property and healthcare. It is owned by the billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, who still holds 99% of the shares in VinFast.16 Aug 2023
The Buccee's in Crossville Tn now has gas, tesla chargers and ccs chargers
The car is very safe because it has been proven that it is very sturdy
Good looking car. I hope those bugs have been worked out. You deserve props for your patience.
Fun video ! Great stuff. Great energy.
Watching videos from Vietnam 🇻🇳
Seems there is somewhat of interest in the Vinfast based on the views in the short timeframe compare to other content with less views. It's a new company to the EV market in US so I feel there is much prejudice towards the car. I feel the guy in the video and Kyle "try" to be funny by knocking it down. Let's give the company a chance, be truthful and see where it goes. I own a Tesla and by far I will never consider that "luxury" however, engineering and technology is phenomenal in Teslas.
I hope you will come to test drive VF8, respect your openness
I thought it was odd how they were talking about site host keeping the area clean at Bucees as Francie was throwing fistfuls of dog hair on the ground and letting it blow across the parking lot.
Yes, that was gross and unthoughtful
Not really. Birds use the hair to make their nests very strong. Good for baby birds.
