    It's so cool there. I was there 2017. Driving from Denver to Las Vegas, around Area 51 then to Wendover and back to Denver over Wyoming. Really really nice views. I was driving a 2016 VW Jetta from Hertz from the Airport Denver. Once in a lifetime experience for me. I am from Germany. Born in 1985.

    I have had that happen on my 2023 Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD, 35KW is the fall back on cable cooling failure, had this happen about 5 time in the last year, but what I kept forgetting is to check on which chargers on the location details are having issues, the routing will detail what stations are having issues so best to check before plugging in.

    Pro-tip: The reason you don't have to wait in line at V3 Superchargers is because Trip Planner routes a lot of Teslas to V2 Superchargers. You'd better hope that you don't get your wish that Tesla "fixes" their trip planning software to send everyone to clog up the V3s when only enthusiasts care about the 3-5 minute difference in charging time. And no, the Trip Planner software should not be different just because he's in a Cybertruck.

    I'm wondering if you are potentially damaging your battery trying to force the battery to take more, even potentially damaging the charger. The charging is slowing down to protect your truck. The work around of placing a wet rag on the cable sensor seems to be circumventing a safety device that protects your truck and the charger. Have you talked with Tesla concerning this practice? I have a Ford Lightening and I would never do anything that would place the truck or charger at risk. I don't hate the Cyber Truck. We have quite a few here in Nevada. They look cheap to me. I have to be honest. They look butt ugly. You guys are always in a rush. Slow down and enjoy life. Note: was just reading that placing a wet rag on the supercharger cable sensor can damage the supercharger.

    • @artemZinn
      @artemZinn 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The trick with wet towel is not about battery protection, battery has a lot of temperature sensors inside it and Truck can limit input/output based on that.
      However the wet towel simply cools Temp sensor in the Cable Handle and it has nothing to do with battery temperature thus not triggering current dropdown by the charger.
      Fooling the handle temp sensor can damage the charger by overheating the cable itself and/or parts of handle.
      But the Truck will not allow the charger to put more than it can take.

  • @MrGMawson2438
    @MrGMawson2438 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why do you need a rag on the charger it will make the water on the rag just dry out

    • @nettlesoup
      @nettlesoup 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The rag stays wet but near the plastic the water evaporates, cooling the rag and the handle. Not recommended (because of potential for overheating of Supercharger cable or plug pins) but it seems to work.

  • @DarrenDaoust
    @DarrenDaoust 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Tesla needs to add some adjustable routing preferences. It's the same thing when I road trip in my Model 3. I almost never follow it's routing. V2's over V3's is common. It often plans long charging sessions which are not my preferred way to travel. Also it seem to always want to arrive with a min SOC in 30s. 🙄

    Excellent video. I purchased a brand new Trans Am in Germany and I picked it up in between duty stations from Dick Poe Pontiac here in El Paso. My new duty station was Ft. Irwin. During my first 4 day weekend I decided to check out Vegas. On the way to State Line, Primm, I opened up the TA to see what it was capable of. Traffic wasn't really heavy and it was a straight shot approaching Primm. I got it up to 156 mph. But coming up behind me was a Porsche 911. I tried to out run it. In the blink of an eye this guy got into the fast lane and he passed me like I was going slow. I was doing 156 mph. Yeah, I was young and dumb. I'm currently driving a new Chevy Bolt EV lol. Keep up the gr8 work. 🚗🇺🇸🔌⚡👍

    All this complaining about no FSD/AP is ridiculous.
    Tesla made it extremely clear that the first CTs would not have them on delivery. Don’t like it, don’t take delivery.
    Furthermore, it’s obvious that they need loads more footage/data to feed into the system in order to train for CT. That will require more CTs on the roads.
    Plus they have to prioritise their engineers on the majority of the fleet - 3, Y, S and X.
    Have a little patience.

I agree with you about drone shots etc. When I think of tech channels, the differences between the “big guys” I watch like MKBHD that have millions of subscribers and smaller channels that are still successful with hundreds of thousands of subs is production quality. Yes add some drone shots. BTW, I’m heading from Ft Worth through El Paso in February. Where should I go after EP? I’m thinking San Diego, Vegas, Utah, elsewhere. Not sure what the prettiest EV friendly route would be. Any suggestions?

    It's a shame Tesla dumped the whole charger team. I guess nobody will be getting to the bottom of the issue of chargers dropping to low power any time soon. It seems like you spend the whole trip hopping from charger to charger and thinking about almost nothing else. Hardly an advert for EVs.

    Great unbiased log. You can think whatever you like about design and so on, but one has to conclude Tesla did release an unfinished product. Also the charging situation is certainly showcasing short term strategic decisions about charger specifications, because of which Tesla now has to curtail their product. I mean boosting amperage to 700A is certainly not the way to go and I wonder what's long term issues for their hardware, if they keep on running those chargers at or above product specifications.
