AI ..... Intelligently forms up dogs into narrow column and piercing front line to hit vulnerable ranged units .... while at the same time sending 80% of the army to park and stare at a flying unit. lmao
Are you new here? The AI focusing on single targets with large chunks of its army is a feature of VH battle difficulty, because the AI is statistically prioritising everything it can, which is extremely exploitable. Ironically, on Normal battle difficulty, the AI doesn't do that, which results is a more chaotic and actually harder experience a lot of the time.
@@mattandrews2594 often times you can exploit the AI being dumb on normal diff too. Actually you have to fight very differently on normal and on very hard diff. I wouldn't say normal diff is harder, you just need different ways to exploit the AI. It might look harder because you are watching legend exploit AI and using cheesy tactics on VH, so you can implement the same in your games, but you probably aren't watching anyone doing the same on normal, so you have to find those things yourself.
@@Axymoon Firstly I didn't say that Normal was exclusively harder than VH. The AI stat cheats go a long way in providing a tough challenge (which I don't really like as a way of introducing difficulty but that's a separate issue). What does Normal/H difficulty unquestionably provides is a more unpredictable, enjoyable experience because the AI behaves in a less exploitable way. Ask yourself why you rarely see dangerous, mass enemy army charges in these Legend challenges that I see all the time on Normal. Sure there are still things you can bait the AI to do on the lower difficulties, but it's mostly the same things that VH AI would also fall for.
This was my campaign! I managed to do it myself eventually, and even killed Archaon, and my army was in shambles. But HOLY was that a masterclass of how to absolutely stomp the AI. Yeah, you absolutely crushed it mate. side note: yuan bo, and cathay has pretty good economy. At I at that turn, I had pretty much painted a third of the map green, and fielded like 20 armies. @@dontgankmebruv7273 If it starts the battle on the ground the current AI still thinks of them as cav. If it starts the battle flying though, they will ignore it the whole battle unless they're ranged units.
I'm kind of surprised that Legend forgot about the Celestial Dragon Crossbow's RoR ability. Reduces block chance, armor, and missile resistance. Would have made killing Harold and Archaon just that much faster. Between that and the Crane Gunners, it's -48% block chance.
If the AI has to get a ton of cheats and give you debuffs to be 'legendary' difficulty...then at that point I feel abusing the hell out of them is only fair.
U know that the battle is difficult, when legend is extremely precise with the formation he´s building. And then the bot goes like, I hate flying horses, let´s send 50% of my armee to kill them, oh wait, damn, I can´t hit them when they fly away, but at least, I can waste some magic on them.
The ROR crowmen are actually amazing, they have a 10 second bomb drop that can kill in the 100s if you get them to blob even a little. Against an army with no missile cav or infantry they are second to only the green guardian (when fighting a missile heavy army) as an ROR imo
Archaon highlights the terrible ranking of auto resolve, he regularly loses his entire stack and himself attacking minor elector count settlements so he ends up being as threatening as a 20 stack of peasant swordsmen. Yet when you face him on the battlefield suddenly you're expending all your resources to try and stay afloat.
also, I guess they (and similar) could be useful frontline for LoS ranged units, "instantly" dropping down to intercept the wolfy boys in this case: just have them hover in front of your guns etc.
Reminds me of how I tried to ambush Grimgor recently as Kislev. Unfortunately, he was unbreakable so one time he soloed the remaining army by himself. Thankfully, I won after like 9 tries.
This happened to me as Cathay except unlike kislev Cathay doesn't have quick access to armor piercing missiles in the early game so killing grimgor when he is unbreakable is super hard. And spamming iron hail gunner to kill him doesn't work since they are such short range
If I'm ambushing with missile armies i always set up at one end of the column and let them mass forward in one line. works well on lizard men infantry spams. Good with skaven weapon teams
Recently i finally got the chance to play the warriors of chaos as Archaon and i was so impressed of how much they improved the warriors of chaos since WH2 , it might be my new favorite faction

Did this the other day with 2 crane gunners in a caravan army vs Drazoath. Killed him, 2 infernal guard, a mortar, and one of the RoR tanks bc they sent the whole army after an empire captain. Lol
I'm gonna be honest. Archaon sending half his army to attack a single flying unit while the rest of his forces get obliterated is incredibly cringe CA.

It always amazes me how ironic it is than normal or hard battle difficulty, ends up posing a bigger challenge to the player sometimes. I've mostly played hard/normal for battle difficulty in my 500(aprox) hours in TWWH3, and in this type of scenarios, if the AI finds it actually has quite good advantage, it would go full "berserker attack every god-damn living thing" mode, because of their low target priority in those diff. levels, which would make it more difficult for the player with an army like this. On the other hand if AI finds it overwhelming, it simply focus to run the fuck away from the battle with the most units possible, which actually is the wise decision. But the "accurate macro decision making of targeting high value units" of VH difficulty makes the AI go "STRONG UNIT, KILL KILL, UNGA-UNGA", giving place to this total non-sense of the general getting fucked whilst looking at the guys that are fucking him
