Awesome, that was my campaign and although I found a way out of the situation too, my armies were not at a that good state as you sent it back to me. You are 100% right, the AI doesn’t seem to fool around as much when they are attacking you and that’s why I struggled with these battles playing defensive. Cheers mate, was a blast seeing you dominate snickch
The fact that there are over half a dozen ratling gun squads and none of them shoot the single entities mindfucks me, because at least in WH2 on normal difficulty they straight up eat single entities for breakfast
Yeah it's the only way CA has figured out how to keep the player from using the ammo wasting cheese but I play on Hard diff because I find it to be more enjoyable. I also HATE the artillery dodging crap that the ai does.
There's gotta be a better way for CA to handle that. You'd think CA would run a check to see if the single entity is engaging an enemy to then let the ratling guns shoot. Or even a range check or something.
loved this battle, first the lords move in to cause as much damage, then the main army deals with the first wave, they don't get army losses so a few injured units are switched out, love the use of each mechanic, retreating injured troops to bring in fresh ones from reinforcements. Great use of strategy and tactics was very entertaining to watch.
That's a good point. If your army takes a beating taking the settlement and you're in an attrition zone, what post-battle option do you pick, just sack and run?
@@robertsprankle6127 if enemy army is nearby i just sack and leave, and get to ambush stance, or I pick an encampment stance if they can't reach me. I like to take my time so I don't have to fight every battle with half of the army depleated.
It really depends on situation. A nearby garrison can be enough to give a single stack the option to disable control large armies even if the garrison is small and badly damaged which might be what a single stack needs to take down 2 or more stacks. For range or mobility heavy armies this could be combined with AI controlling the garrison to potentially out number single stack attackers and act as a useful distraction. Garrison units are free and completely disposable which can be significant value depending on the circumstances.
I think my 2 favorite things about Legend's videos are: 1. His sayings, such as: "Snickerdoodle-doo, mothaf*****" 2. His mocking impressions of us as viewers with stupid opinions, before he proceeds to school us on exactly why, such as: "But Legend... (insert simpleton advice)"
I don't understand why CA made units like ratling guns and jezails not shoot at single entities. Their projectiles are so fast, I don't see how one could consistently waste their ammo by dodging so I don't see how them saving their ammo is supposed to be better at stopping player cheese. It seems like a classic case of trying to be too clever with the AI design instead of just sticking to what makes the most sense in the majority of scenarios. I still think it shouldn't be too hard to have a unit do a logic check every 10% of ammo used or something like that and if they've done virtually 0 damage with that 10%, then maybe have them move/stop shooting/change tactics.
That would be the best anime ever made. Legend would be like: "Okay, you peasant horseman, your job is to run behind the enemy lines and get half of them to chase you so they come at us in waves. Archers get in square formation and don't waste your ammo on trash. You, shitty wizard wait till they blob up in this chokepoint we're setting up and use all your fire spells there. Lord Fuckface, I need you to go kill all their missile units. NO, don't bother dueling the enemy leaders, they're too strong. We'll just kill them with arrows."
“Yeah so basically we’re gonna siege this castle with 3 guys on horseback and capture the whole thing because they can’t walk on this weird mountain point.”
I do always love when someone stumbles across Kazador, who is honestly one of the most broken non LLs in the game. You can stack his Melee stats to such ridiculous degrees that he can throw down with pretty much anything in the game.
I've discover this banner thing long ago, it'll work if second (and third ect) lord with banner are on campaign map and didnt regive this banner in their fight. If lord is wounded or disbanned in your reserve banner wouldn't apply. But technically yes, you can put banners on one army as long you have spare lords and banners
Ref the banner between armies, it requires that the other lord hold onto that banner, and it can’t be equipped in the original army… but yes if you had enough armies and banners, you could make one army with all the banners
´Always be the attacker´ - Well. That kind of depends. Was this otherwise going to be a minor settlement defense battle? Dwarfs are *insanely* good at that. You can safely set up behind buildings and lure every rat within the range of your irondrakes getting stuck fighting tough Lords. They'll even march their artillery inside for easy pickings, the only real threat here would've been the poison wind mortars, but you have the gyrocopters for that. I'm pretty confident I would have aced this with just the first army if it were. Then again, the Ogre camp maps aren't favorable. Still. the amount of rats I've murdered this way with just a emergency lord and some RoRs is insane. Playing as Kazador [Mixu] I at one point recruited an army specifically for defending minor settlements, not a full stack, I wanted them to attack it as often as they could. Just a few irondrakes, heroes and empire mortars with runes on them.

Like choosing to lower difficulty before a battle then upping it, say in Skyrim.
Second battle was just 👌👌👌👌 Scaven artillery derped out so hard they just stood in one place for the whole fight and sent cannon crews to fight Ungrim in melee...
My god that was frustrating to watch. The dance of "refusing to use the gyrocopters because we need an early army losses so we let 5x as much damage get done to our units driving the army losses way back but still must absolutely cherish the gyrocopters" probably will not catch on with anyone else.
Seems like the AI won't shoot lords with ratlings... guessing this is a quirk of very hard to prevent ammo wasting? This tactic wouldn't work on normal. Seems so strange that this battle would've been harder on normal as the ratlings would shoot anything
If you allow large army, both sides can bring up to 40 units to the field at once. Not using large army limits unit count on the field to 20 maximum. So if, for example, you are fighting against 2 armies (I think you also need to have at least 2 armies of your own as well) and you don't want to face all of them at once, you can do this. New units for the enemy and yourself will only come onto the field when units are wiped out or leave the field, so the fresh reinforcements will trickle in in small groups. Viability of this tactic largely depends on the army compositions on both sides I'd say.
If you're experienced with every race, you'll recognize the background music. Every race has their own "winning" music. That's how he knows, it takes time to recognize them all, though.
