    Could be the best video on TH-cam for installing a wall mounted unit. Excellent!

    Not trying to troll - I used a stopwatch on my phone and it took 15 seconds to open. REGARDLESS, this setup is awesome!!!!! Thanks for the thorough process - I can't wait to do this.

      Yeah I agree, not a huge difference in time but it is smoother and quieter now. Plus this opener allows for the Aladdin Connect app to open your garage with you phone. It comes in handy…

    Excellent video. 2 things that will make it even quieter, lube the door, and buy a set of garage door roller sleeves. The roller sleeves reduce the metal to metal sound the rollers make.

    Didn't you mount the standoff bracket backwards where the re short leg would go against the wall and the long adjustable leg mounted to the drive unit? would have saved you an extra step.

    I have 2-10' metal doors that "Roll" up. They are heavy. I tried the Genie Max Force 2 H.P. Screw Drive. The doors are too heavy, it only lifted them 6' before I heard the screw slip. I mounted it in between the 2 doors.
    Now, this may be the solution, but my shafts only protrude a small amount 3/8" before the cotter pin. How much shaft is needed to connect to the motor coupler?
    I also have 14-3/8" between the rail supports, that maybe I can fit 2 units? Thank you!

    I think the mounting bracket position is incorrect, unless your wall in not flat where you going to install the motor. for your case if you install the opposite way, you may not need the piece of superstud.

    Great video! One question: How did you re-route the power to the new opener? I.e., did you already have an outlet close to the door location, or did you run an extension cord to an outlet that's located further away? If you're using an extension cord, have you had any issues? There's a garage door installer on TH-cam that says the motors in these are susceptible to shorting out if you use an extension cord. That doesn't make much sense to me, which is why I'm trying to understand if it's really an issue or not.

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had an outlet about 5’ away and I use a 5’ heavy duty extension cord and it works fine.

    I'm confused with the wiring for the safety beams. I only received one spool of white wire. There is no striped wire. U zoomed through that part so I am having trouble understanding what to do

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Run wire from the one side opposite of the motor up the wall, across the top, and over to the motor. Cut the wire and strip off the ends to connect to the sensor and motor. Then run another shorter strip of wire from the sensor below the motor up to the motor and strip off both ends to connect.

    Really appriciated for this video. I see you removed old over-head unit & rail, but still keep the garage door torsion springs. Is that torsion spring required for the wall mount door opener?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The torsion spring helps you lift & lower the door as without it, the door would be too heavy to lift/lower manually and would burn out the motor.

  • @ericmeadows64
    @ericmeadows64 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Help me understand; Why you switched from a traditional trolley opener to a side mount opener? ...and don't tell me to save overhead space, because the tracks and doors still require overhead space.
    I'll wait...

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, as I mentioned in the video, I was installing a golf simulator in my garage and needed to eliminate the center brace that held the opener for my projector and driver swing space. That was my primary reason. But, for some people, that extra 16’ of space in the middle could also be used for ceiling storage. Plus, the side opener is a little smoother and quieter and does not cost a ton more to install compared to traditional. Why are you so against it?
      I’ll wait…

    • @ericmeadows64
      @ericmeadows64 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DieselLegiance You are a rare case with the simulator, storage maybe???
      Most people will buy these side mount openers because they're the "new fad" but not necessarily better than the traditional trolley operator. They do this without knowing how it compromises their security. Trolley openers provide higher security by pushing down directly in the center of the top section, making it almost impossible to open from the out side.
      Right now, I can open your door from the outside from the opposite side of your auto lock and craw underneath to get inside your garage (especially with that light weight Wayne Dalton door).
      Lift Master (the originator of the residential side mount, found this out the hard way with their first version, they left out the auto-lock, then found out people were having their garages broken into).
      Not only that but most garages don't have power outlets on the side of the tracks to power up these openers (make sure that extension cord has a good ground, it can damage the logic board).
      In addition, you shouldn't have to put "cable tensioners" on your door, they force you to do this as a added feature to prevent the door from throwing the cables. Why do you think the operator moves so slow when in the fully open position (throwing cables!)
      Look, I am saying is: People don't be fooled by this design, you can get all these features ...and more, in traditional trolley openers and for less cost. Our side mount are 1/3 more cost than our trolleys.
      "If you don't absolutely need the side mount than DON'T buy it".

  • @brownwhale5518
    @brownwhale5518 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Good video, but skipped the whole power hook up.
    Looks like the openers power cord plugs into the lock mechanism. Then he just routed an extension cord to the bottom of the lock mechanism.
