    I like that you didn't edit out your mistakes. Makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only person to make those same mistakes

    Thank you so much for the tutorial. I was able to get the rail system put together by simply following your instructions. Now I have to move my old mounting bracket forward because the old garage door opener rail system was longer. Again, thank you, new subscriber here!

    A tip for installing power head. Make sure the carriage is disengaged , open the door by hand. Use a block on the door to support opener rail . Check rail if it is level, adjust if necessary. Now mount power head at same position. Remove support block from door flip carriage to lock position, move door by hand to lock into carriage. Great video enjoyed it

    Thank you, your video made for very easy installation. Here are a few tips that I used: I'm a nazi about using thread lock on anything that causes vibration. Also, when mounting the power unit, I tied a 1/4" rope to the rail near the power unit and to the ceiling mount, pulled it up to level and finished the hangers. Thanks again!

    I just completed an install on a similar Genie. The sensor wire routing forced me to do a modification. I didn't want to route it out and around as my garage has a finished ceiling. You can't just attach it to the rail (my old one you could). As the rail is hollow, I drilled a hole on the under side about an inch from the motor head. There is a Bolt hole towards the end, must be for over travel but I removed it. I used Fish tape to get the wire in the rail and out the removed bolt hole. You only need the one wire as you can wire in a series. Made it so much cleaner.

    Pretty sure the garage door springs are wound too tight. This may be why the old garage door opener failed. The door should not spring open by itself once the door opener lever is disengaged. There are of course a ton of videos on how to adjust garage door springs but the general rule of thumb is the door should stay open by itself once the door is half way opened manually.

    • @maynard666
      @maynard666 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, you should remove the door locking mechanism once you have a garage door opener installed on a door. If someone engages the lock and then attempts to open the garage door with the garage door opener, something is going to break. The door, the locking mechanism, the opener track or the opener itself will be damaged. The garage door opener serves as your garage door lock once it has been installed.

      I said they exact same thing, that door is sprung too tight! No way it should go up by itself that easily. That's what led to all that tremoring with the old track.

    Very good video. Trying to install a Home Depot 'Black Friday' Model 2155-TSV that has 'challenges'. Stamped on the frame is a note of 12volt DC circuit. I have 5v. Yes I am in communication with "customer service'. After multiple repeat measurements it seems a new electronic control board is in my future. They seem to work out of a computerized script.
    The biggest challenge is latching the 'carriage assembly' ... apparently a fork that engages part of the turnbuckle where the two ends of the drive belt are secured together. I cannot see what is supposed to move up or to what it is to engage. The carriage assembly is like a tube - I can see all the way through meaning it ought to be a no brainer..... but it is not. Any idea of what the latching mechanism ... carriage assembly to belt turnbuckle .. should look like? Tim Ho ... here in n/e Florida

    That door is sprung too much, it shouldn't go all the way up by itself that easily once you release the catch. That could be what lead to your previous unit giving problems...having to fight that much force to get the door down.

    We got everything installed and programmed. the wall mount button will not put the door down now unless you hold the button down the whole time and the down button on the remote does not work at all. it goes up just fine. Does anyone here know what the problem could be??

    • @RobertBaker84
      @RobertBaker84 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a safety sensor issue. Make sure they are aligned properly and nothing is obstructing the line of sight between them. If you still have the issue check your wiring and make sure you don’t have the wall station and sensor wiring mixed up.

    Need help. One sensor has a red light and the other a green light. Is it normal? The - is the up and the + is the down limit. What did I do wrong?

    • @TheOnespeedbiker
      @TheOnespeedbiker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the sensor lights are different colors, that is normal. If the buttons are reversed you likely put the belt union on the wrong side of the channel; looking out the garage door from the inside, it should be on the right side.

    • @elkuartostudio
      @elkuartostudio 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheOnespeedbiker you are right. I changed the belt union to the other side. Now is working. Thanks!

  • @ScottH-hl3zv

    You didn't show how the plastic carrier that the door hooks to is moved by the turn buckles or belt

    • @TheOnespeedbiker
      @TheOnespeedbiker 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      During assembly the turn buckle union should not be at either extreme, near the motor or end of the channel. For ease place the union about 2 feet from the end of the channel. Once assembled, lift/open the door until the plastic carrier covers the union and then lock the carrier in place (how far the door is open will depend on where the union is prior to setting the limits; now you can set the limits). While the union doesn't have to be centered, if it is at either extreme, leaving the garage door open or closed prior to setting the limits, it will be beyond the limit adjustments. Not mentioned is you must set the limits prior to installing the backup battery.
