Your new paint method is really working out well. The translucent paints are coming out WAY better than they used to. Good call on the repro wheels too.

Love Aqua. So Metallic! I do remember having a deep purple Python. It looked cool to an eight year old.Think they made a dark gold metallic and a green metallic too.Awesome job!!

Excellent resto as always. As for people crying about replacing the factory wheels it's your car to do as you please but mostly it looks a whole lot better with new wheels. That's all that matter to me when I attempt a restoration or custom. I have not done any vintage redlines but have done a few late 70's and 80's models and hey if a set of Maisto F1 wheels fit on a 1977 Hot Wheels Monte Carlo Stocker than so be it!...LOL!
I love the history aspect of a factory correct restoration (and a lesson on names python vs cheetah).....but..... the aqua finish and new wheels look perfect .... with or without the black top on this one. LOL ! 🍻 well done !
Another great job. The car looks amazing but I have to say I kinda liked it in black. If it was done right it would be cool, Or what if you did a purple undercoat with a black top coat to give it a full colored look. Anyway keep up the good work.
Also my favorite HW color on another beautiful resto. Helpful hint with those fat-tipped paint pens like your chrome marker...extract some of the paint into a little cup and use a toothpick or a fine point paintbrush...but you probably already do that. Anyway, major props!
Yea my 2mm pen crapped out.. so I only had the big one. I'm used to getting in there with it now. Did all the trim on the Vista Cruiser with the big pen.

I saw where one fella brushed some of that pledge on top of the tail lights after he used the red marker, it made them look more realistic like glass and keeps them from fading too quickly.
If zinc coating oxidizes under spectraflame paint, don't you have to zinc plate it again? How do make drilling the posts look so easy? Are you using a 1/16" drill bit. I have used 1/16" drill bits, but it makes the post walls so thin that when you tap them the frequently break.

Great resto a always! The chrome paint can stay longer if you clear coat it.
Aqua colour was a great choice for this model. An all white interior would complement the colour and chrome.
I was reading that you can seal the chrome paint with floor polish. The same polish you use to refurbish windows

For spectraflame I use lacquer thinner to clean up always.
