Pick up a new CMOS battery if you notice your OC not sticking after reboots and an X5675, X5680, or an X5690 if you want a bit of a performance boost. They are old server Xeons that were unlocked and could be OC'ed. You can probably find those chips really cheap now days. I have some videos showing an overclock on those as well.

Reading an old reply. I should specify that they are as fast in multithreaded applications due to the extra core. The 6700k and 7700k are much faster in single threaded even though the Xeons are no slouch. I'd only recommend going X58 if you already have an X58 motherboard. Hi there sir. I liked your video. I've been trying to find videos on how to optimize my GA-X58A-OC mobo. The bios is identical to yours. I have an intel i7-990x. I'd greatly appreciate any help.
+Sugar Kaine Mostly What is your current OC? I don't see any reason why you can't push 4.5+ GHz pretty easy with that set up. You could do that a lot of different ways being that the 990X has an unlocked multi. I would try to find your highest OC while keeping your voltage around 1.362 Vcore and 1.335 QPI/Vtt. You can push voltage higher there for benches but I wouldn't run it higher 24/7. Try to find something that works in the 4.3-4.5GHz range around those voltages.
Your vcore is way too high for that overclock. You just need 1.23v for QPI and 1.25v max for Vcore. You will need to enable load line calibration. I get 4Ghz stable at like 1.2v.
