What If Joffrey NEVER Died? | Game of Thrones

- We go through how the events of Game of Thrones would change if the Joffrey Baratheon NEVER died. What would Tyrion Lannister's next move be, would he still be on trial? How badly would Cersei Lannister want her brother to be punished? Does Tywin Lannister still stay as Hand of the King with growing Tyrell influence in court? What is Jaime Lannister's arc now?
Let us know what you think would happen if Joffrey lived... and we will tell you why you are wrong
I would say that Joffrey and Tywin killed the wrong Starks. The dead ones are good. The living ones are insufferable. And I don't include Jon because the living Starks never consider him as one of them.
@@OurHiltsHurt treason is treason!!
@@OurHiltsHurt Lord Robin would be King.
Thats how Robin Arryn is so strong and chadlike. He doesnt even bother with peasant food and drink. Just goes strait to the tap Homelander style.
The seed is strong!!!
It is known 🗣️
All facts
Hmmm, Maybe his strength comes from a different source, I believe he is the son of Craster the loving, son of Aemond the Dangler also known as the Domestic Terorist of the Riverlands, conquerer of Milf Witches, first of his name. No wonder he is such a proud and stunning example of a young man.
Anything
Tywin would probably have spent the rest of his life having to unscrew his grandsons dumbass choices
He won't last long anyway because Oberyn poisoned him during Joffrey's wedding. He will still die without Tyrion.
@@nont18411 not confirmed
@@nont18411Cope theory, Oberyn exists to get his head caved in and to be the father of the Sand Snakes; nothing more.
@@nont18411 Nah no way because Dorans plan is to make tywin watch his legacy crumble before killing him
No, I think eventually Tywin would have ended Joffrey and replaced him with Tommen or at the very least, looked the other way as someone else does the deed. I don't think he's in the mood to deal with Mad King 2.0. Too chaotic, too unpredictable.
If Joffery lived he wouldve gone on to kill the night king. The most noble boy to ever live, our Prince that was Promised
True!!! The story would be a lot shorter with the true king sitting the throne
If he actually is Robert's son, then he is a targaryen
Your Sarcasum runneth over.
@Linkedblade A )He wasn't, B) if he was even remotely he would be 1/2000th.

"Season 4 is arguably the best Game of Thrones season"
and the very first season that GoT had shown its 3 first red flags
1 - Yara chose not to help Theon because she and her henchmen were afraid of a topless Ramsay, which was a full display of how thick Ramsay's plot armor actually was.
2 - The omission of Jaime's confession about Tysha. Tyrion and Jaime's separation should have been in horrible terms, not the good terms that we got in the show.
3 - The omission of Lady Stoneheart. She was essential for the Riverlands plot (and potentially Stark succession crisis plot as well). Without her, the Freys just went completely missing in season 4 and 5.
And ever since then, we entered the "bad poosy" era of the show.
Yeah, two and three were the best, people just like how season four ended.
I'm sorry do you actually think Ramsay and his personal guards were the only ones in the Dreadfort? It's a massive castle with at least a few hundred soldiers, the element of surprise was gone and Theon was being difficult. If they didn't book it immediately they would have got swarmed. Seriously I've seen this repeated so many times. Does no one know what garrison is?
@@rodrigosantoscienceros Cool strawman. No one was talking about timing. The Yara Plothole happens cause she would have had to sail around the world + Ramsey doesnt have any armor on. yk, the thing that keeps ppl alive from weapons? lmk if you need me to repeat it what I just said but slower.
No. ARMOR. = Easy KILL. If you need it any simpler lmk
For me season 1 is the most faithful and consistent of them all. Trully a masterpiece
I agree, these are definitely red flags in hindsight but they aren't all that bad.
1 - Yara understood quickly that Theon wouldn't be easy to save even if they found him sitting alone in a field, seeing a topless madman and his friends enter the room just seals the deal. Ramsay being topless is just in character (I value that more than obligatory Shadiversity realism, esspecially in a show with a total of about 3 helmets and zero shields used by main characters) Topless or not, engaging in a fight with him would have ended in everyone present dying. Ramsay is not a desirable kill for Yara if it doesn't help her to save Theon and that mission had failed as soon as any group of people entered the room so saving her men was more important.
2 - Yeah ok that one is pretty bad😅 that was a big red flag that I couldn't see through the amazing acting between them at the time.
3 - Lady Stoneheart is the worst part of the books imo so I didn't miss that anyways but I also think the red wedding has much more of a finality to it without her, no satisfaction in attempts of revenge, none of the people we love remain (even if it's not really her I know but some of her is still there). Considering the small amount of screentime they would probably be able to give her, it would have been a waste to take away from her death just to get another zombie in the array of revived people in the show. What she added to the books is a good omission from a show adaptation, nobody was itching to see the effin Freys again in this packed season.
Again, in hindsight I am with you 100% but I can see potential seasons 5-10 in my head that would have me gloss over these as I did in my original viewing of season 4.
I also still prefer bahd poosey to muh kween😂 they really outdid themselves on the way down.
Joffrey’s death was the most “coming to your senses” moment in the series. We all wanted him dead but as soon as he was gone, we wanted him back.
Uh. I didnt
Mostly just when Tommen let the High Sparrow get away with anything he felt like. Joffrey sucked, but he would’ve definitely killed them, he clearly doesn’t care about being seen as pious, seeing as he had Ned Stark beheaded on the steps of the Sept of Baelor.
Since the poison closed his throat and he choked/suffocated to death, I think Joff lives by pulling a Saw V and stabbing his own throat with a ballpoint pen (or a quill since westeros) to breathe through until they can give him an antidote
@@3ddifyJoffrey was vicious but he sadly had in🍞 level IQ he wouldn't know that. Qyburn or whatever his name was probably would.
A variant : he gives his cup to Margeary, and she dies instead of him.
Lady Ollenna's reaction would have been something to behold

Also wanted to form a standing army, kid definitely had emperor vibes.
If not him, then at least Tywin would want to you'd think, for sure!
The most noble boy the Gods put on this earth.
Daddy Robert did
@@based-ys9um true. But Bobby B should have had it done. He wanted to call it off when he was about to die. Joffrey had no real power when Tywin came to capitol. Tywin was running everything and Joffrey really couldn’t do anything without his grandfather’s consent.
Tywins dream scenario: Jamie becomes his official heir and ruler of the Westerlands while Tyrion manages Jamies lands and becomes his closest advisor.
Oh yeah, absolutely
With Bran becoming king in the end of the show, we never realized how good we had with Joffrey.
- Bran literally got off on watching his own sister getting raped by Ramsay.
- Bran tossed Meera like trash after she literally dragged his ass throughout the north of the wall.
- Bran knew beforehand that Daenerys was gonna nuke King's Landing, which would kill millions of people, and it would force Jon to kill her, and he let it happen anyway without warning anyone so that he could usurp the throne from Jon and banish Jon to the wall.
- Bran gave independence to the north simply because his sister is now in charge (nepotism much?) while denying independence for the Iron Islands and Dorne, even though these two are known for a long history of rebellion. Totally won't cause another devastating civil war.
- Bran knew what's west of Westeros and chose not to tell Arya, which condemned Arya to die in a sea (not that I care. She stole Jon's victory).
- Bran allowed Tyrion to appoint Bronn as a Master of Coin, which will surely bankrupt the realm within a few weeks.
You know? At least Joffrey had a hand who actually knew how to rule like Tywin.
@nont18411 I never understood why Sansa wanted independence from a Stark ruling the Kingdoms. A stark being ruler was the only outcome where the North would have willingly bowed to Kings Landing.
I actually never thought about that Danny theory cos bran can look in the future... He should've definitely been killed by the night king and meera did deserve better
@johnmorris1009 cuz she's a power hungry bitch who wanted to rule
Tyrion: Who has a better story than Bran the Broken?
Stannis: Any of you I should think, even the cook.
Bran did not “get off” on Sansa are u trying to be obtuse?? He literally said she looked pretty in her wedding dress and then said “ I’m so sorry all this evil happened to you here in our home. Some of these things are totally valid but that’s crazy. Also wtf are u talking about Arya dying? The show is already making up stuff that’s not in the books at that point but it just making up more stuff now?
Tywin bailed out Tyrion of multiple threats on Joffrey. Tywin wouldn’t let that happen if Joffrey lived.

@@OurHiltsHurt the real Joffrey would likey die to dany and her dragons when she comes to westoros or joffrey would kill dany and her dragons and die of old age
Ayres the III Joffrey.
I find it interesting that many Lannisters are actually decent people. Tyrion's uncles were kind to him. Tommen and Myrcella are good kids by all accounts.
It's only the firstborns that are jerks (Tywin, Cersei, Joffrey).
Even the words they are known by (A Lannister always pays their debts) is actually a pretty positive thing to be known for.
Joffrey was a true stag.
True!!! All hail King Joffrey Baratheon
7:22 I agree with Tywin sending Tyrion to the wall. Up at the wall Tyrion is away from King's Landing but is still "available" in a sense. I think Robb in the books (it's been a while so I might be wrong) mentions offering the Night's Watch gold to release Jon from his oaths so there is probably some sort of precedent for that. Also I think Tywin knows that killing Tyrion will cause problems with Jaime so keeping him alive, even if far away, is the move.
Hiring someone to take his place is likely a possibility.
True
Tywin deals with the same way he did every other time Tyrion publicly threatened Joffrey.
How’s that?
@@OurHiltsHurt at Tyrion’s wedding (show) he threatens Joffreys life. At small council meeting he does the same. Tywin always bails Tyrion out when it comes to Joffreys threats. “I’m sure Tyrion did not mean to threaten the King.”
What, just rolls his eyes?
Facts, Tyrion faces no consequences, Joffrey is ignored
@@paulraines9635 😂😂I’m sure tyrion did not mean to threaten the king
I think the paranoia and the exasperation of Joffrey’s madness due to the attempt on his life would cause him to finally snap free from the power Tywin has over him and either dismiss Tywin’s plea for Tyrion’s life and Tywin would just give up on Tyrion, or if he doesn’t Joffrey could punish Tywin for trying to defending Tyrion. This new Mad King reign by a paranoid sociopath could cause Varys to free Tyrion himself and help him off to Daenerys. This will cause Joffrey to become even more sadistic in his anger and the increasing betrayal against him. He just starts punishing everyone for everything no matter how close. Even his mother. This could cause Jaime to slay his own son seeing Aerys II in him, and according to the books Jaime didn’t really love Joffrey that much
The real what if should be what if Joffrey was breastfed for an adequate amount of time, like ten/twelve years?

What if Joffrey didn't execute Ned and actually married Sansa?
Ned is a massive liability
The most noble boy the Gods put on the world.
So he’s definitely going to leverage the situation to get Jamie back at his heir it’s just too good of a opportunity for him to let that pass in any situation. So you can count on him doing some shit there. As far as handling Tyrion personally, being as politically clever as he is, I think there is the small chance that he can somehow worm an exile into Joffrey’s brain. It gets those two as far away from each other as possible by being not being on the same continent, and, this is the big one. It puts a person who he can manipulate into certain situations if he does it right in close proximity to Daenerys. Who can spy as long as they keep playing out the situation that Tyrion poisoned the king.
I honestly believe that Tywin sooner or later, would have had Joffrey killed to put Tommen on the throne anyway, he was just way too unpredictable and as soon as a Joffrey is off the leash, you’re not getting him back on it. Pretend to send Tyrion up to the wall with some other dwarf, but actually sent him to a Essos to spy promise to make him Lord of the storm lands, or something like that if he can convincingly worm his way into Daenerys, his closest advisers, and possibly even manufacturer a way to kill the dragons and take away her biggest power. I mean it’s not the first time you see dragons that are chained up being vulnerable to humans that come in large numbers. Kill two of them and she only has one that can be taken out a lot easier with scorpions. Then have a Joffrey killed, and “pardon” Tyrion after finding some new evidence that proves his innocence.
This is way too long and I thought way too much about this, but it’s definitely a path he could go down .
Uncle Peter would find a way to get Lord Robin on the throne.

Correction: no one has healthier bowels in Westeros than Tywin, and they are immune from all poison.
@@seangreen5876 He was holding that in since Green fork. Man tossed logs strategically not even tactically like a modern marine would.

Where's the fookin' Craster video?!
1) According to littlefinger, if Jofrey become violent with Margery, Loras will kill him
2) If Jofrey become more paranoid, one of his first targets will be Tommen , and book Jaime will not accept this , so a second guard ready to kill Jofrey
3)Littlefinger will be very angry if his scheme has failed, so he will try a second shoot as soon as possible
4) There is just a matter of time until Jofrey make himself a enemy of the Tyrells, Martells ,or the Vale
Aegon is just after the corner
There is just a matter of time until
joffrey was mad that his grandad was a legit gigachad told him one line "the king is tired"
Tywin would send Tommen to The Rock to train under his uncle Jaime, arguably the greatest swordsman, and his wise and clever uncles Kevan and Tyrion to become the ultimate Chad Lannister. Then when Joffrey become truculent Tywin brings Tommen back to Kings Landing.
Joffrey: Why is Tommen here?
Tywin: To remind the realms just how many grandsons I have.
Joffrey: Are you threatening me grandfather?
Tywin: Absolfuckinglutely I'm threatening you.
I think Tywin would want to keep Tyrion alive. He hates his son but he recognizes his intelligence as an asset and Tywin would probably be loathed to lose that if there was another choice.
Joffrey is getting poison but he lives and he is more crazy than ever . They show will have been so much better . Imagine he see them all as enemies he is taking heads he don´t even listen Tywin . And is order to have Joffrey and Tywin he must stay alive as well ( i mean Tywin )
“Dont even go near my ear holes!”
If Joffrey lives but loses his voice, I guarantee that Tywin would use that to directly put himself as Regent, since Joffrey couldn’t verbalize commands. He could lock Joffrey away to keep him controlled, and do whatever he pleased from that point onward.
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing things also could you do what if robert baratheon didn't die?
That might be our next one lol
what a crazy idea, it changes damn near everything!
Imagine if he had a redemption arc
Man that would be a master class in writing
if, for whatever reason, tywin wanted to stop tyrion from being excuted, i reckon he'd argue that "if tyrion is sent to the wall, his abuse of alcohol won't be tolerated, and so he'd be forced to sober up. he would be forced to work to earn his keep, the food is so awful that even maggots won't touch it, and there isn't a single woman for a hundred miles. if you want to torture tyrion, that's how you do it."
Tywin would eventually have enough of Joffrey and decide to kill him himself.
Honestly could happen
Ok, before watching the video, i'll give my version of what might have happened.
Oberyn makes a plot to murder Tywin Lannister and the mountain. His visit to kings landing reignited his passion to see them dead. He would have succeded. Tyrion would would have been blamed for being in collusion with him, by joffrey and cersei. He is imprisoned, freed by Jaime and escapes to essos. He eventually joins with dany, as actually happened anyway. Sansa would still have been rescued by Baelish and events would have played out in a similar way.
Joffrey would've prevented the sparrows taking power and tried to have dany assasinated. Upon her sailing to dragonstone, he would have set a trap to arrest her and tyrion at the dragonpit talks. Danys army would have laid seige to kings landing and eventually wiped out the lannister army, afted hearing heir queen and hand had been tortured and executed by joffrey. Joff is murdered by Dany's soldiers and the Tyrells manage to surrender and change sides, pleading for mercy. The Martells and Tyrells are best positioned to put a ruler on the iron throne, and the dothraki are given land (although they run riot across the countryside, as they did in Essos, staying as a nomadic people.
Dany's dragons go wild and fly away. Jon snow negotiates peace with the new powers in kings landing. The dead reach the wall, but cannot break through it, as they have no dragon. Euron conducts raids on his niece's and nephews stolen iron fleet, with his new iron fleet and eventually defeats them. But his following invasions of westeros are repelled by kings landing and by the north.
Not a bad situation. Right off the hop I tend to think oberyn wouldn't try anything in such a high security environment after everyone is on high alert from the attempt on Joffery, but you never know!
@@OurHiltsHurt Ah, i didn't consider you had the attempt on joffreys life as still having taken place. Nevertheless, I still think Oberyn would have found a way, or maybe Ellaria might have taken it upon herself to do it for him.

Earholes must always be kept safe
Tywin may make a move to have Joffrey die shortly after. Blaming It on the poisoning, he would prefer Tommen as King, much easier to mold and control.

11:20 If Cersei did try to re-arm the faith militant with Tywin still around what do you think he'd do? Would he force her back to Casterly Rock, marry her to a Tyrell, or what?
I'd say most likely scenario is send her back to C(r)asterly rock. That move would be so insane that Tywin would probably swear her off as too dangerous to be anywhere close to real power.
Tywin just had Tyrion marry Sansa. He'd 100% prevent Jeffery from killing him. He just got a good political move with a Stark married to a Lannister, without the crime being to the point of Kingslaying, he wouldn't allow him to die.
That said, to satisfy Joffery, he'd probably say that Tyrion would get sent to the wall. Maybe. That or he'd demand an investigation. Tywin isn't stupid but also doesn't tolerate Joffery's bullshit, he would very quickly get Joffery on a leash. Or try to, at least.
“His Baratheon blood flexes and out alphas the poison”. Except that he doesn’t have Baratheon blood.
I think that Tywin did not really push Oberyn more in the topic of poisoning Joffrey because he knew it was Olenna and he knew why she did that. He still needed Tyrells so he could not accuse them publicly and he also gain on Joffrey dying more power over king so if he wouldn't die he would have time and influence to handle Tyrells later.
I would personally be interested in seeing you guys dish on what if Ramsey Bolton won The Battle of the Bastards

I think it will be something like what Brandon rivers (three eyed R) did , agreeing to send him to the wall then send assassins after him .
I think Tywin, Tyrion and Joffrey would head to Applebees and hash it out before acting rashly.
Olenna said she didn't know what the strangler did. I think she would have wanted a different poison, one more survivable. Tywin needed to find someone guilty and Cersei told Everyone it was Tyrion. That is fine with Tywin, Tyrion can be the scapegoat. But not executed I think it was always his plan to send him to the Wall, and then elected Lord Commander so the Lannisters can have power in the North.

Honestly I don't think Tywin will let Tyrion die. I would assume that since the king doesn't die then Sansa will not be able to escape king landing as their would be less commotion. Tyrions marriage to Sansa is still the key to the north and Tywin needs the Tyrion/Sansa marriage to maintain control of the north.
