I’d say aim for a 2:1, but work extra hard over Easter. That way if you get a 2:1 you’re happy and got what you wanted, and if you manage to get a 1st you’ll be overjoyed! If you aim for a 1st and don’t get it you’ll be disappointed with a 2:1 even though that’s very good for your first year!!
I'm sure your tutor is great, but I imagine they are only looking at your life from an academic perspective (understandably) and not really taking into account the benefits of maintaining your social life which is obviously not their personal concern. You know yourself better than anyone and you will make the right decision for you. However if I were in your position I would keep working at that high 2:1 (which is an excellent grade anyway) and enjoy my life. You can always work towards that first when it counts towards your degree
As someone who graduated 2 years ago, I agree you should enjoy your first year at uni and not worry about getting a first. Of course it will look good if you do, but like you said you sold your soul at alevel and it's time for you to enjoy yourself! You seem more than capable to get the first so focus on getting the grade when it counts towards your final mark in second and fourth year and enjoy yourself because you deserve it! I got a solid 2:1 when I graduated and I probably could have pushed myself more but when you look at grads schemes, most require a 2:1 so have fun girl! 😀
Eve, I’ve been watching you for years now, you’re such a big inspiration for all of us. I’m a 3rd year med student, so I know Uni can be too much, but you’re handling it like a queen. Huge love from Hungary xx
I’m so so incredibly proud of you, I have been watching your channel since I was in year 9 (now in year 11 ) you have inspired me to work hard to try and reach for my goals, I love your videos so much, I don’t miss a single video you post. Congratulations and let’s hope for more success in your life, love you ❤️
Well done for completing your first time and so successfully Eve! I'm glad you're loving Oxford, you've worked so hard for it! Enjoy yourself and make choices based on your true feelings. Don't let anything else influence you
My biggest advice is to not see every term as wanting it to be the same! It’s better to come with a fresh mind and know that your next term is going to be different as you might find that some people may not want to go out as much etc. I think it’s just about making sure to grab those opportunities around you so you still have a fab time:)
eve! don't be disheartened, theses uni Vlogs are my fave videos you've ever made, and theres no better feeling than coming home from Saturday school (ik ughhh) and watching ur weekly vlog!
Congrats, Eve! ❤ I am so happy that you had a great time. Oxford is really a huge bubble, to be fair...I'm studying at Oxford Brookes and it is a challenging yet lovely experience. I am glad that I chose to do Publishing Media..the course it's very interesting :)
I was living for your vlogs this term! Helped me survive my 1st semester of grad school, so I hope you continue with them because they're very realistic!
I didn't know you wanted to go into journalism! I'm in Year 13, and I've been watching your videos since Year 9 or 10. You've helped me so much with both academics and self confidence. I plan on studying Journalism at uni next year. 💖
Same girl!! I always worked sooooo hard on my grades because I wanted to be "perfect", to get to a good uni, to make my parents and my teachers proud, because I didn't want to disappoint them... And now that I'm at uni I just want to enjoy life! I'm still working of course but I just don't pressure myself on being the best, having perfect grades, making people proud... I just want to enjoy learning stuff while I'm enjoying my life ❤ and it feels so good 😊
Congratulations on finishing your first term Eve, I wouldn't have made it to interviews without your videos and all the amazing online resources provided by all the Oxford vloggers❤
So proud of you Eve. Currently waiting for post-interview decisions from Oxford. Watching you has been such an inspiration but the fact you are so real in your vlogs and this video is so nice to see. Well done you! Also..always be proud of your accent! Remember a 2:1 is an incredible grade and there is no need for a 1st in your first year. Enjoy university while you have time.
Congrats on your first term you look like you’ve really enjoyed it !! So proud of you and so happy that it’s worked out well after how hard you worked . GO EVE !!!! Xx (so excited to see Jess back on the vlogs)
Congrats on finishing your first term - it looked amazing from the vlogs! I'm very happy for you, and it seems like you're really enjoying it. There'll always be a bit of stress (or a lot of stress... looking at you, IB!), but don't let yourself get bogged down by it! You're exactly right in what you've said: everything I've heard from parents and friends seems to be "enjoy yourself at uni - it's all about social experiences, and learning to balance adult life basically." Hopefully there'll be many more happy terms! Hopefully I'll see you in October next year if my interviews have gone as well as I think they have! ;) Either way I absolutely cannot wait for uni next year!
Congrats on completing your first term at Oxford - you certainly look like you've enjoyed it! Make sure you take some time to relax over Christmas, you deserve some me time! I've just finished my first term of my MSc and I've loved it! Like you, I've found where I'm meant to be, doing the subject I'm meant to be doing! 💜
I’m so glad you love oxford!! I’ve loved your vlogs and they keep me going through A levels which are sTrEssINg mE oUT but I’ll be at university next year so it should all be worth it !! Well done on first year✨🎊
Came back from oxford interviews at Worcester this week and can honestly say it was one of the best weeks ever, such an amazing city and environment to be in
Honestly i'm just so happy you're happy!! makes me very excited for uni and motivated to grind in my final year of hs so i can get into the uni and the degree i just know i'll love, even if it's a tough slog xxx
Wellll done, love how honest this is and how realistic it is as well!! Be interesting to see a comparison to first year from 2nd/3rd/4th year as you go through uni!! So much love for your channel 💫
Also make the most of first year, it’s the only chance to have fun and it not count!! Whereas as soon as you step into 2nd year you can’t just suddenly decide to have fun, you have got to solidly work for the next 3 years, so make the most of it while you can and don’t worry you can prove yourself letter on!!!!
EVE, CONGRATULATIONS !!!! You are doing so well. Love your videosss!! The fact that you’re on track for a 1st, and doing TH-cam, and inspiring people and having fun is actually the best thing ever. Keep slaying
My mini update for my 2nd year of A Levels is: I am semi-happy with how I’m doing. Lowkey not where I want to be for English but I feel like you had similar views to me on that one 😂 I loveee Sociology and I’m very very happy with how I’m doing in Sociology but Psychology is an absolute mess
Yayyy eve!!! Congratulations on completing first term❤️❤️❤️ you killed it girl, you’re such an inspiration, i get to see oxford from INDIA through you 😊 thankyou so much, I’m a studytuber and I’m doing studymas this year, will you be doing vlogmas/studymas??
Nice one! I'm always so pleased to see your videos on my feed, both as a Midlander and someone who's studying German! I'm hoping to do my masters in Translation into this!
Aaaah i'm so happy for you and your mental health and everything! I find it so fun that i can second basically everything you say, i feel the same in soo many aspects!! (I'm studying maths at Oxford, first year student as well... Obv i can't say anything about essays but about how i'm feeling, how i'm using my time etc.) Hope to one day run into you! :)
I’m in year 10, GCSES are so stressful, not least because my teachers keep leaving, 2 are leaving at Christmas, 2 have quit mid term (we’ve had supply for Spanish since the 3rd week of the year), and the science department are moving around which means my biology teacher is changing! Working hard, but it is difficult when you have a teacher who doesn’t know what you have already covered, or where anything is etc.
Hun, my English lit teacher left, chemistry teacher left, biology teacher quit, didn’t have a computer science teacher and I got eight grade 9s. You can do it yourself!!
i feel your pain sis i went to a bad secondary school too ! don't worry about it and keep working on your own and you will get where you want to be - you could always look into tutors outside of school if thats an option available to you but at the end of the day, GCSEs don't matter in the whole scheme of things. keep workin at it though my queen !
Sounds like you're really enjoying your stay there which is all you can hope for going forward to Uni. Seems like you love the course you're doing 👍. Congrat Eve.
Good one Eve!! I can totally relate with what you said about not being sure if you wanted a first lol😅 Doing my A-levels now and hopefully will be joining you next year. I love your room btw
Love your videos so much Eve!! Have been watching them since you were like in year 10! You've inspired me so much to work hard!xx I am applying to study French, German & spanish at uni and got 2 As in French & Spanish at AS Level. St Andrews, Bangor & Exeter offer a triple honours title & Bristol & Durham offer modern languages but can still study 3 so i am very excited. Ive received offers from Bristol, Exeter & Bangor but wont get an offer from St Andrews until January haha
I felt like that was definitely the biggest jump from a level for me too with essays (i'm a first year too at Bath) - it's so independent! like here's a question, go FIND the answer yourself. It's so much harder but so much more rewarding
i am also studying spanish at my university in my country, we also have separately grammar, speaking, translating, literature (spanish and hispano-american)..i love when someone is studying languages i think that is so beautiful, you would think that people that have english as their first language wouldn't be interested in studying other languages just because they don't have to, but i love to see that that is not the case :)
In year 12, considering applying to do a language at Oxford next year! Do you think it’s worth the stress of applying? Btw your videos are the only reason I have a TH-cam app on my phone
If you're willing and able to, then absolutely! Apply for everything because you never know what might happen. It is a hassle (from someone who's just come out the other end and is waiting on results), and it will be stressful, but if you think you want to apply, then go for it. The worst that can happen is that you get rejected. If you don't apply, you might regret it because you'll never know if you could have done it. ;)
I'm in year 11 and i want to do Russian at uni, there aren't many unis that offer it, only oxbridge and a few others but i don't wanna go to oxbridge so its a struggle 😂
i'm currently applying to uni (as an international student) and omg the last year of high school here in spain is soooooo stressful, plus i have to re-take an english language exam that is required in order to study abroad because i need a 6.5 and none of the parts mjust be less than a 6 but even though i got a 7 overall i had a freaking 5.5 in my writing ughhh! but anyways i'm so happy you're enjoying your time at oxford!
Been waiting to this! I’m nearly done with my first term studying psychology (semester 1 isn’t over until February) so it’s been tough😭 but following your uni journey has been motivational. I study psychology and it’s been tough, but I’m also looking forward to your study with me’s! My channel is also dedicated to my study / academic journey and that’s how I started with this channel, inspiration for study with mes from you 💛
The more stress you put on yourself, if you can get a 2:1 and just need a 2:1 I would advise you just do what you are doing, im in year 2, it gets more challenging!
A-Levels are going alright. Currently I'm studying Edexcel Business(Grade A) OCR English Literature(Grade B) and thirdly Economics which is the problem for me I keep getting C C then D afterwards I go back to a C then D. Like I really much enjoy economics, however some topics I get bad grades, even though I try really hard.
Honestly so proud of you Eve! Its so wonderful to watch how far you have come since your gcse’s results video. What is your favourite thing about being in Oxford? 😄
YES EVE. I’m the same, always pushed myself too hard and put too much stress on myself to get into my dream uni and course and I did. I get mid/high 2.1 and I’m happy because I know I could trust myself to get a first but what’s the point? Every master degree program accept 2.1/2.2 so I don’t see the issue?
I've found uni really lonely, most of the people I've made friends with travel into the city for uni so I don't see them outside of uni very often and I don't get on with my flatmates
Lovin the oxford videos but pretty plz can u make some A level tips videos because I’m slightly dying. Tips for spanish/languages irps? Tips for writing languages essays when you don’t do English lit and found it hard at gcse? How to speak spontaneously?x
Make the most of uni they'll be the best years of your life, even if you don't realise it at the time. Its the best mix of responsibility but not too much responsibility! When you get out into the real world you'd regret not making the most. But also, work hard and don't get into lazy/sloppy habits! X
Congrats!!! I am also in first year studying German and Spanish in at uni in Ireland. Currently doing my exams for them :) I was wondering if you're going to be doing any study with me videos or if you could make a video with tips on how to maintain languages over the holiday? Hope you have fun these next two weeks, Merry Christmas!
@@ailbhenoonan819 Hey! I'm studying in UL. You can do English and French as part of an Arts degree here or do 2-3 foreign language in the applied languages course. Best of luck!!
I freaking love Oxford!! I've always wanted to study there, unfortunately I live here in India and its pretty hard to get into Oxford ;_; PS. I LOVE YOU ❤️
What are you planning on doing after uni? And what work experience did you do? I’m currently doing French in year 12 and I want to do langages at uni. Loved this video!
This update is interesting. No pressure but please could you do an update every term? I've been finding the start of year 11 difficult, I had to redo one big project three times and because of health reasons (I am fine now though) it made me get even more behind so I have to catch up on a lot so I'm finding it a bit much and very stressful but I'm beginning to cope with it better.
But I guess that's the key: keeping busy. If you feel like you did your best, then that's all you can do. It's out of our hands now, nothing we can do! 😅
@@ailbhenoonan819 very true! Just keep thinking about how they already know!! Go through phases of not worrying about it and then suddenly its all I can think about
congratulations! hopefully the first of many many more successful terms!
Thanks so much!
Can’t help to notice that you’ve lost your accent a bit, Eve!!
Emily Canham Right?
It happened to me as well, one month after moving to Oxford I lost mine ☹️ Oxford is the place accent go to die
oh fuck off, Emily

That’s exactly what I meant haha

i absolutely LOVE your attitude, eve! im at durham & am feeling the exact same way!
love how you can decide if you want a FIRST.

Would you ever upload your personal statement?
Molly Kiely You run the risk of it being completely plagiarised.
@@anjmehra not really as ucas has a built in plag check so it wouldn't make sense to copy
Lucy Schneider I did my UCAS about 9 years ago so completely forgotten to be honest.
Why the hell would she want to do that?
cynicallygreen because it might offer others guidance applying for similar courses? She doesn’t need to,
congrats on finishing first term its such an achievement
Thank you!
Congrats Eve for completing your first term and doing so well 🎉 hope you have a lovely Christmas! Hyped for studymas 💖

studywithanna we’ve got the same first name & i’ve just finished my first term studying psychology as well hahah. i subscribed to your channel x
anna clegg 💗💗 thank you that’s so kind! aw hope you’re enjoying psychology!
really looking forward to this Eve!
Wooo :)
The more stress you put on yourself, if you can get a 2:1 and just need a 2:1 I would advise you just do what you are doing, im in year 2, it gets more challenging!
So nice to see you loving it! Could u maybe do a vid on a level language speaking?? Or a vid on each paper?? That would be the absolute dream xx
Congrats on finishing your first term! I finished my first term in my first year at Keele uni as well this Friday, we have 12 week terms though ^^
Great Video!! You’re such an *inspiration* 🤙🏼
Thanks so much!!
Honestly so proud of you Eve! Its so wonderful to watch how far you have come since your gcse’s results video. What is your favourite thing about being in Oxford? 😄
The people for sure! X
Love how real this is .
What. A. Queen. I am so proud!!
You’re my favourite TH-camr eve, love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌍🌍🌍🌍🌍
Love you too!
Can’t believe you replied 😱😱❤️
Can’t believe you replied 😱😱❤️
Can’t believe you replied 😱😱❤️
I love this catch up video EVE
Congrats on finishing your first term!!!! (Also it was so nice to meet u last week!)
Lovely to meet you too! Thank you x
Eveee how did you manage studying alongside partying or going out!?? Btw congratulations on completing first term❤️
Thats what i always think.hope she make a video on this topic
I've found uni really lonely, most of the people I've made friends with travel into the city for uni so I don't see them outside of uni very often and I don't get on with my flatmates
Lovin the oxford videos but pretty plz can u make some A level tips videos because I’m slightly dying. Tips for spanish/languages irps? Tips for writing languages essays when you don’t do English lit and found it hard at gcse? How to speak spontaneously?x
I LOVE YOUR UNI VLOGS😍 and excited for studymas
Well done eve so proud of u ❤️
Thank you x
Which uni? I'm applying to TCD and (probably) UCC to do English and French (or just English 😜).
I LOVE YOU ❤️
Love you too!
What are you planning on doing after uni? And what work experience did you do? I’m currently doing French in year 12 and I want to do langages at uni. Loved this video!
This video makes me miss my first year at uni! Just subscribed 🙌 I wish I discover your channel earlier! 💛
Hi Eve! How did you deal with the wait from interviews until results of if you got an offer for Oxford? I can’t stop thinking about it xx
Me too, it's torture!
Same here, although IB is keeping my mind off it with all the deadlines and IAs... so I guess it's not always on my mind because I B stressed. 😂
But I guess that's the key: keeping busy. If you feel like you did your best, then that's all you can do. It's out of our hands now, nothing we can do! 😅
@@ailbhenoonan819 very true! Just keep thinking about how they already know!! Go through phases of not worrying about it and then suddenly its all I can think about
@@yasminjordan6953 I know the feeling. 😂 But I'm happy with what I did, so now I can focus on getting my IB done (one HELL of a task!)
Congratulations 😘😘
