outcasts at university with no friends feel like that all the time ahaha. i would know. i can go a whole week in uni without speaking to a single person. just go in go to lectures, do my work in library and go back to my room. I have been an outcast and bullied my whole life so I am used to it, but i find it interesting listening to perspectives from someone like you who fitted in
The accommodations really do look like they’ll establish a tight community for those living there☺️ And yes! Community is such an important factor in uni
so glad you had an amazing second year - i’ll be going into second year in october so hopefully I’ll find it easier than first year haha! Also can i just say that the meridian mag is genuinely amazing - cannot wait to binge future articles!!!
I wasn't sure how I felt about the university I'm supposed to be going to this year and so seeing how happy Eve is talking about Oxford is really helping to give me the confidence to reapply to university to make sure I'm happy wherever I go
Omg, I actually can’t believe you’ve already finished 2nd year I’m currently OBSESSED with your channel, like my sister is fed up with me watching your vids ALL THE TIME love you so much😘😘😘😘
really love your videos eve , really respect how honest and balanced you are in your opinions. I found first year at my uni pretty terrible for similar reasons, but hoping 2nd year will improve :)
I study Italian and Hispanic Studies at the University of Kent and all of my modules besides the language ones focus on the politics of both Italy and the Hispanic world. In 2nd year I'll be doing a module where we'll study opera and other parts of pop culture and also gender in Italy. I didn't expect to learn so much about the politics but its actually really interesting!
I feel you girl, I was in 3rd year last year but then I had to take a leave of absence as I got ill and had to have an emergency operation and restart 3rd year in September 2019 so spent January to September last year at home when I should have been at uni and this year I've been in 3rd year again and now covid so had to spend even more time at home and not have a summer at uni for 2 years! Haha
I'm the same! I intercalated due to mental health in January 2019 and restarted second year in september 2019 so I've only had 1 summer at uni in my first year! and I know we wont have the same night out experience in my final year especially in first semester (RIP Freshers week), I'll still try and make the most of it :)
Loved the video. My Dad went to Oxford so it's cool to see a modern story about his uni :-) Could you do a video on fun things to do in summer during lockdown (like non-academic as we all need a break aha)
This video was so useful for me as I was considering the linguistics and Spanish course but I don’t really want to do a literature heavy course and want to look at more the politics/history/culture so thanks eve 🤗❤️
I love your Oxford videos, it gets me proper insight into student life their since I’m applying to Oxford this year 😬 but honestly...just live all your videos hahah 😂 have a lovely weekend xxxxxxxx
Sophia DLC Geography at Jesus! (or maybe St Catz) I think there’s a facebook group called Oxford Undergraduate Applicants 2021 entry which people are beginning to join :)
Ya estoy acabando la universidad, y me la pase leyendo literatura y sobre todo a vargas llosa. Estoy seguro que dificilmente tendre alguna experiencia tan bonita como esta. Enjoy the uni 👍
The next time Eve speaks on the weather I’m finna steal her bookshelf. Edit- it’s now 11:21 and the camera isn’t on her face it’s out the window. Eve don’t pretend to be shocked when I steal your books. I warned u
Hello Eve! I´m from Perú here we start reading Mario Vargas Llosa´s books in high school, I really enjoy "La Guerra del fin del Mundo" I hope you could share same of your impressions soon, in any other video! That would great :)
How does it work with the people on your course? I would presume that the people on your course would still be there when you go back for 4th year or do you just have a majority of friends on 3 year courses?
My first year was cut short by COVID..and I still can’t believe just a year has passed because soo much has happened and I have gone from rock bottom to the best times of my life. I think I was just about to get used to it all and the uni situation and then I went home (which I am not complaining about) and not sure when am I coming back
this video was interesting a great insight into oxford! also igy the weather has been so crazy in England recently theres been so much thunder and lightening wheres the sun!?
I’m thinking of applying for French and linguistics at Oxford (I’m in year 12) but I haven’t done English lit A-level so I’m a bit worried about whether the course would be for me or not :( I’ve looked at Cambridge too but they don’t offer linguistics as part of the degree title I’m pretty sure... I mean I most likely won’t get into either so probably problem solved haha, if anyone has recommendations for other unis for modern languages pls let me know!
(just some advice sorry if it's not actually helpful!) if you do enjoy literature and analysis (i think language a levels do have lit?) then maybe if you do really like Oxford otherwise, you could try some more literature practice in your spare time (i know its hard with a-levels) to get a feel for it but if you're really not sure about the course or about Oxford then maybe it would be best to look at other unis, unfortunately i don't have any recommendations for that. just do what you think is best for you, your uni really doesn't mean anything about your capabilities, but even so don't feel like you can't get into Oxbridge - aim for what you dream of! best of luck to you
Hey, I have an offer for french and linguistics at oxford. I also applied to warwick, manchester, edinburgh and southampton. I don't think it matters that you don't do English literature because as long as you enjoy literature in general then a "literature heavy" course should be fine :)
kennedie rae thanks for the advice, I will need to read some books in french for my personal statement so I’ll try analysing them!! I did enjoy English lit GCSE & I read quite a bit in general so hopefully that’s a good sign? But yeah I agree, if I decide it’s not for me I’m not gonna apply just to say I’m going to oxford :)
Nikita Jain wow well done for getting an offer, and thanks for the advice! What A-levels did you take if you don’t mind me asking? I’m looking at Southampton and a few similar to your choices too :)
I find it so amusing to see Eve freaking out about the rain and I’m just sitting here in Scotland where it can change from sunny to a downpour really quickly 😂
This was so useful! I’m going into my second year at Lancaster in September, I’ve just uploaded a round up of what I took to uni in my first year so anyone feel free to check that out!
this vide: 60% talking about second year at uni, 40% talking about the weather and lighting
That storm was literally MAD I tell you
“I’m definitely gonna appreciate it more in my final year” *spooky thunder*
Is this pathetic fallacy hahaha
Rachel Green 😂😂😂👀👀👀👀
I guess Im pretty off topic but does anyone know of a good site to watch new movies online?

Hope you’re okay! I can definitely relate to being lonely at uni so you’re not on your own x
Uni can be quite hard. Feeling similarly 🙃🙃.

Hi eve!:) as you are in oxford can you please tell me that if it will have any impact on my uni application if I don’t do English literature IGCSE ?
I’m thinking of applying for French and linguistics at Oxford (I’m in year 12) but I haven’t done English lit A-level so I’m a bit worried about whether the course would be for me or not :( I’ve looked at Cambridge too but they don’t offer linguistics as part of the degree title I’m pretty sure...
