My AC stopped blowing on my 06 GT last night. I needed a fix asap as the weather here for the next few weeks will be about 115°. I saw this video and was able to fix this issue myself in under 2 minutes. Picked the part at AutoZone for about $20. Thank you so much for the video!

Great simple video. My 2005 Mustang GT had the exact same problem. All fixed now for just over $30. The part is called the Resistor and Ford says it's a common problem.

Thanks for posting the video. Gave me enough confidence to try. I observed that the glovebox will simply drop down, and you can look that little component right in the eyeball! No need to lay on your back. The screw is 3/8". I used an extension to get up behind the glovebox, and could see exactly where to place it, unscrew it, install new component, and done. Ten minutes on my try.

This fixed my problem that was fun speed at 1,2 3 wouldn't work and was blasting on 4.
Nice work with the video, as simple and straight forward as demonstrated.
The spare part is called: blower resistor, that's all you need to say at the spare parts store. Ford sells for $60, aftermarket vary from $20 to $40. Took 10 minutes to change.
Note: My socket was stuck and wouldn't disconnect because of oxidization of inner pins.
To fix I sprayed WD-40 in the sockets through the back/ wires and let is sit for few minutes, it then loosen up.

I’ve done this before but whenever I did it the smell of fire came from the area. I ended up taking it to a repair shop and it was fixed but 6 months later its not working again. The ac/heater works only on 4. During the 6 months I had issues with a small antifreeze leak and overheating at times. I took it to the repair shop to fix the problem for the overheating and the leak but I wonder if this played a factor in the resister not working again. I was tempted to try to do the repair myself but as I stated earlier I smell like fire when I try to do it before and the positioning of my body is very awkward and uncomfortable to try to get the resistor. What do you recommend I do?

I changed the blower resistor but the fan is still not working. It could be one or more of the following: fan blower, relay, or one of the

Yeah, I did. After going through the trouble of changing out the fan assembly it self and checking the fuses, I put in another blower resistor and that one work just fine. Those assholes at Autozone sold me a bad blower resistor. I went to O'Reillys and bought one from them and it work just fine. So I paid to have a new blower assembly installed for nothing. Plus, all the aggravation. Pisses me off.

I've not felt one under load, and am no mechanic, but it must get somewhat warm, as it has to load down the current flow to slow the fan speeds. Perhaps that's why it fails now and then... gets too hot and blows out one of the resistors?
