  • I finally put my first commercial indie game, Couch Combat, on Steam, so how did much money did it make in the first month? And what are my future plans? And who is actually asking these questions? IDK I'm just writing the description and trying to put as many keywords as possible, Dani Mr Beast Amogus.

    You've made a game, marketed it, and got some sales. Not only can you include that in your portfolio/resume but you can be proud of the work that you did.
    Good Job. You inspire others like myself to make games

    The fact that you worked hard and released a game at all is amazing. It sounds like you understand that and how much value you get from the process itself. And on top of that your still in high school which kinda blows my mind. Keep up the good work dude!

I’m 25 and you’re finally getting me off my lazy ass to start game development like I’ve said I would do over the past 6 years. Good work dude and I look forward to future content and games by you!

    Not to sound mean or anything but I kinda expected these kind of results. Not because your a bad game developer but because of the genre of the game. The Co-Op Arena Battle type games are heavily competitive with games like Smash Bros, Injustice, Brawhalla, Stick Fight, Mortal Combat etc. A game experience like this could be easily recreated in any modern fps game like COD just by going in the settings and putting 1v1 or 2v2. Overall the game changing effects was a nice touch but I don’t think something like this would have a large audience. It’s difficult to pin point what exactly you could’ve done to get better results. But personally if I saw a game like this, I’d expect it to be free since it provides a more simpler gameplay loop, I think in order for games to charge, there should be more content to merit such a price.
    Regardless I think you did well and can’t wait to see you make a lot more profitable games :)

    It would be difficult as I can imagine but perhaps you could add in a Map Creator? Players can easily get lost there just making rounds. And you can let these players add these created maps into their Round list.
    The Map Creator would just use assets you already have in the game and plots of land of different sizes and colors I guess.

    A small complaint i have is when you land after jumping it doesnt have nearly enough impact as it should, i think you could try to add a bit of smoke when you land, and pan down the camera to give it extra impact

    • @channelnamegoeshere4707
      @channelnamegoeshere4707 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a super good suggestion, especially the camera pan, although I think it might get a bit nauseating with how much sliding there is in gameplay

  • @GreenBlueWalkthrough
    @GreenBlueWalkthrough ปีที่แล้ว

    For your channel size and how small the audience is for your game is... I can say it was successful and as long as it stays on the steam store it will sell to us who couldn't buy it on launch or people who find it in the future. As for me online and bots would have gotten me to buy it on launch. As a TH-camr/press it's really hard to show off a couch co-op only game for me right now but add a lobby/matchmaking system and or bots and I might make a series out of it if it's repayable enough.

    Something I've found about dev-log related marketing is that a lot of people (Including Myself) will simply wishlist your game to support you, or out of curiosity to see how it performs but with no interest in actually playing it. That's why the wishlist conversion rates are so low on "TH-camr Games"

  • @farbencut
    @farbencut ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Problem with the game is probably that it released on the wrong Platform. I don’t know many people who look for local multiplayer games on PC. The gams might have done better on Console, but Porting the games and putting them in the digital stores is probably a pain to do. Then, I feel as if local Multiplayer titles just become kinda outdated I guess? I really have no clue lol. I’ll get the game eventually tho. It’s just that I really didn’t get the chance to buy said game lmao

    yeah alot of making a first game is like %90 learning how to actually make a game.
    And the second one would be WAY faster; since it's already known how to make games.
    a big part of long game development time is us just not working on it lol.
    Listening to you talk about what you want to do, just sounds like i'm listening to a clone of myself say
    exactly what i want to do too.
    My current expenses are:
    A. $26 for Audio
    B. Alot of time Learning to do everything else

    The main issue iv'e seen with your game all along was you were going for a split screen party game.. sure if done right and marketing like smash bros it could be a good game, but in all honestly from a not known publisher, and first game even release i wouldn't buy a game if its only split screen. I would want to play against others, i dont always have people over to play splitscreen games. I would argue that if you would have made this multiplayer from the get go, it would probably have done better.

    It very much looks like a tech demo and not an actual finished game so I'm not that surprised about the results. Congrats on releasing a game nonetheless, it's more than I've ever done.

    Adding multiplayer is very hard. You'll have to find a good networking solution that also supports Steam.
