It can actually be really hard putting on a heavy backback. Even if you can lift it easily on your back, it is harder to lift it up behind you and then getting your arms trough the right strops, especially if you have short arms. The best thing to do is often putting it on sitting like she did, but then it is hard to get up because you have so much weight behind you. The trick is to get your legs underneath yourself, but that takes training and a not too heavy backpack.

30 degrees is Very cold if your sleeping bag isn't rated for that. 30 degrees is enough to die in if you're not prepared since water freezes at 32. So many people mock them, but we shouldn't underestimate nature.

OMG I am terrified of wombats and possums. I think those are scarier than American bears! Possum makes the scariest noise. Then again, I have never seen an American bear up close.
+amsd1231 it's actually not that common to run into venomous reptiles and spiders in Australia, like yes it's higher risk than most places but you've just gotta be logical and smart about it haha don't put your hand in weird holes, don't leave your shoes out in the open (that's for camping) etc
From a 4 hour trek down, it only felt like 30 mins because of how hyper and positive I was. My whole team felt the same and I guess I'm writing this because the guide lady was smiling so much, and it's definitely the way you should hike -smiles galore, and the general atmosphere will be so much better. This helps your mental burden (of continuous hiking, especially if the trek is hard) and forces you to push your limits in a healthy and positive way. I'm no expert, just a 16-year old who loves hiking and camping, but take my advice to just smile, even when you're crying from how tolling it is.
