    No license, no registration, no insurance. There's no chance she drives the fucking car away from that, especially if a cop was on scene. Care to explain?

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      To prevent any hearsay, you can here the cop on scene explain it.

      @@HondaFit4Adventure Damn. I live in Colorado. I'm shook, and I'm mad, and this didn't even happen to me. Theoretically, shouldn't the cop pull her over immediately once she starts driving again? She is committing multiple crimes again, right in front of him

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      @@IlIIlllIIIIIIl The officer gave her 30-40 minutes to provide any and I mean any information at all. (Call home, have someone bring your license or insurance)
      Once this time passed and she still had nothing to provide the officer, she should have immediately been arrested and possibly have the car impounded. (At least in Chicago)
      Is she really who she says she was? Did she even own the vehicle? or was it stolen?
      You would assume once she started to drive again you could write her another ticket for driving with no license and insurance. Apparently not because "we just issued her one for that"
      I still have the original files and some IG stories saved from that incident. If that video starts to get views I'll most likely post another video from that incident with more and uncut footage from that day.
      Colorado is such a beautiful state but this experience has ruined it for me. Thankfully my car wasn't totaled.
      If you can, Like & Share that video. That's the one that really needs to be seen.
      I occasionally will paste it in a "Come Visit Colorado" ad, where no else believes what they saw either.

    As someone who has owned a 2008 Fit Sport 5-speed for right at 10 years now, 170K miles on it, this brings such a big smile to me. My Fit feels like an old friend at this point. Although I haven't built it out mine like you have, I do run extra wide Yakima rack/bars with a topbox and routinely carry a canoe ontop. I also have a rear hitch with bike rack that gets used weekly. My Fit and I have been on countless number of adventures. After all these years, I still love driving my it each and every time I turn the key :-) They are remarkable cars! Great job man and happy travels and adventures to you!

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Scott. I had a 50cc Honda Ruckus Scooter that I drove across the Midwest and took adventures on back when I was younger.
      I had over 30k miles on that little thing before I retired and sold it.
      Although it didn't run the greatest anymore, part me wishes that I kept it.

      I am still driving my 2007; the 1st model imported to USA
      Cheapest, most cubic ft of cargo space, best gas mileage (Honda wasn’t offering the Insight), most headroom of any Honda model
      Honda did bring back the Insight in 2009, sadly designed only for short people

      The Fit needs to come back. The Civic is far from entry level, is too large, and hardly as versatile. I akk on ways wished they offered a stripped model without power options like Honda use to on many cars. I picked up a 2015 Scion XB, similar versatility and I dig it. I remember Black Friday in 2017 the dealer had a new Fit Sport for 17k.

      Man, I had a off the lot new '09 EX 5spd with Nav which I believe was the last year to offer the highest trim with MT. So much fun to drive and extremely versatile. Sadly, it was totalled when an older lady ran a stop sign and we collided. Can't believe Honda canned it when it was such a better value than the civic.

    Good to see someone else using the Fit for camping. I did 3 months straight camping all over the country in a 2010 Fit, stacking two tempupedics in the back and was mega happy. Had the front passenger seat out as well. Car is at 230k miles now still going good, no mechanical issues.

    I have a 4 day a week 80+ mile round trip commute for work. My 2016 Fit now has 218,000 miles on it and has been essentially trouble free. Fortunately, most of those miles are easy highway miles. When I purchased it, the dealer was offering free oil changes for the life of the car. That has been sweet. I love the Fit, am sorry it has been discontinued. I would love to be putting miles on it your way. But you have inspired me to rig it up for some weekend camping.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wow, I only know of a few 3rd gen Honda Fit owners that are over 200k.
      My FIT has also been pretty much maintenance free. I only had to change fluids and tires up until 80k miles.
      At 80k I replaced the rear shocks, battery, belt, spark plugs and brakes. I'd still consider that general maintenance.
      The oddball out was replacing the upper engine mount. I've read that the lower mount is one that is known to break over time. I wonder if it broke when I got rear-ended.
      My previous car was at 230k miles before I retired it. I would like to at least beat that mileage in this car.

    Very good build 👍🏻
    Factory induction unit will always give the best fuel economy also I’d recommend thinner 195/55/16 tyres for the mpg.
    The place on the dash you want to install the radio unit has a passenger side airbag unit inside

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Thanks Bob.
      I'm sure the roof rack is the biggest culprit in my loss of MPG, thankfully it's just on the tollway.
      It's worth it, with the money I save on hotels :)
      Bob, to the best of my knowledge the passenger side airbag deploys out of the upper portion of the dashboard and wraps around the rest. I could be wrong. I'll do some more research on this.

So much fun and extremely versatile, it's really disappointing Honda dropped it. I pumped up an air mattress once for a laugh in the back before later I got into camping. Would I still have it, perhaps I would be car camping around the US. Four years later in 2013 a lady ran a stop sign and the Fit t-boned her minivan totalling the car. @@HondaFit4Adventure Look into an oil change pump. It is like the car drains its own oil. No quickie lubes, no sketchy shops or waiting until you get back home to the garage.
      Bolt the oil transfer pump to the chassis with vibration isolators from Enterprise Rubber and plumb it to an oil pickup installed in the drain pan. Use Tygon F-4040-A tubing, Kuri-Tec K7560 hose and Midland Industries brass fittings. I recommend a 12v Reverso brand pump because it can be directly wired to the car battery with no additional electronics.
      Once you have this system installed changing your oil becomes as easy as flicking the pump switch and dispensing the used engine oil into a milk jug from a handy oil tube. You can pour in engine oil from an auto parts store or pick up oil at the post office in the town you are visiting after making an online order.
      Make life simple. Pump oil instead of draining it.

    There are several navigation mobile phone apps that have free maps so you can use them offline just like the standalone GPS. Just saying. HERE is one that I find easy to live with and have regular map updates.
    The other alternative includes the cheap Chinese no brand center infotainment system which is essentily android.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. The Garmin also keeps track of the AVG speed, Trip time, stopped time etc.
      Yes there is an app to keep track of all that too but you can only run so many apps on one phone.
      Google Maps, Waze, HighwayRadar, and iExit to name a few.
      There's so much to cover I could have easily made this video another 10 minutes.
      I'd like to add an infotainment center to the FIT but I've heard many mixed reviews on the aftermarket ones.

It fit perfectly on the floor of the passenger sides. I took my back passenger bottom seat out. And I sleep on the front seat using my front seat pushed down with a 5 feet mattress and It is a nice 3 inch. I hope to start back my channel soon. I have been so busy. Having the ability to run the heat or A.C. at night would be amazing!
      Here's a picture of me and my Honda fit next @gonzoprius and his Prius on @VinWiki

      So far GonzoPrius has the 1rst, 2nd and 3rd generation Prius'. He likes the 3rd generation the best. I'd like to hear his opinion on the new one.

    Dude, just got recommended your video in my feed, and mad respect!! With two young kids, this would never work for me (unless the wife kicks me out of the house! Again.), but definitely love your setup!! Maybe I missed it but with all that added weight, have you needed to update the suspension to cope? Anyway, if you don’t see this, safe travels and enjoy it while you can. Life is so very short!

      @HondaFit4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could trick out a Honda Odyssey ;)
      The suspension is still stock.
      I did make a video covering all of the weight I added and removed from the car. I was still under the max load capacity but pushed it pretty close with adding the kayak to the mix.
      I've since incorporated everything from the roof rack to the INSIDE of the car somehow, and drilled out 2.75" holes into my bedframe for some additional weight reduction.
      Exactly! I could've waited around until I could afford a cargo van or I can make it work with what I have now.
      Why spend the extra money!

    Doesn't seem like it needs it but have you thought about to putting a small lift, just for the heck of it? Overall, exceptional craftsmanship. Nice Job?

      Thank you Eddie, I definitely looked into some options.
      I think the safest way to go would be to use a Honda HRV or Insight springs.
      I've read this would give the Honda Fit a 1" lift, but would only work in the rear for some reason.
      I may end up doing this in a few months when I try to put on a 205/60/16 tires.
      The car has changed quite a bit since this video. Here's a TH-cam short of how it looks now :)

    Sweet setup. Thanks for the breakdown of the what and why. I have a 2017 HRV fwd manual. Makes me want to do something similar. Not sure how they compare room wise/cu sq. ft but they have to be similar in interior space. Safe and happy travels Sir.

      Thank you. I try to switch things up a little bit every year to see what works best. th-cam.com/video/idm3ooqQFcU/w-d-xo.html
      Save The Manuals!
      Room wise the HRVs and the Honda Fit's are about the same. The HRVs do sit higher and have the AWD option.
      Thank you again and #SafeTravels as well.

    Интересно. Но я считаю, что Fit он слишком маленький и низкий для больших поездок . Хотя бы fit shuttle или freed они на той же базе, но спальное место будет более 2 метра. Правда, они тоже низкие. В России используют проставки, под амортизаторы, что бы сделать машину выше на пару-тройку сантиметров, но тогда она теряет в управляемости немного.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      К сожалению, у нас нет Shuttle, Freed или Hybrids в США. У нас есть только Honda Odyssey.
      Сейчас я буду использовать Honda Fit, пока Honda не сделает грузовой фургон в штатах.
      У меня есть эти проставки, но я их не ставил. Спасибо, что сообщили мне об обращении. Интересно, как бы они себя чувствовали, если бы их установили со стабилизатором поперечной устойчивости или стабилизатором поперечной устойчивости. Я включу это в список дел для видео.

    Brilliant video pal!👍😃 I love the look of you're little Fit, I purchased a mk2 jazz earlier this year with a view to doing similar advertures to yourself. You're deffo living life to the fullest! I'd like to know how reliable you're little car has been though? Oh and I'm checking out you're equipment list on amazon 👍 Carry on with the good work, regards from the UK 🇬🇧

      I had to google MK2 Jazz. I was unfamiliar with the MK2.
      This car has been a champ. I drove almost nonstop from New York to California. 4844km for 40+ hours.
      I say almost because the battery died in the middle of that trip. It was over 7 years old though.
      I've only had to do fluid changes up to about 130,000km. Last year I also replaced the rear shocks, belt, spark-plugs and an engine mount.
      I'd say the maintenance overall has been a minimum. I believe my PCV actuator needs to be replaced now 15,000km. I heard that can be a little pricey, but cheaper then buying a new car.
      How are your gas prices?

    • @Willyfarns
      @Willyfarns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HondaFit4Adventure yeah its called a Jazz in England, yours is a mk3. You're little car is a beast, its been reliable. 🥺🤪 oh don't ask about fuel prices... depending where you buy the fuel from ( supermarkets tend to be cheaper then shell/bp etc ) you're looking at £1.92 up to £2.10 per litre. And here in the UK its something like 40% of that price is tax which goes straight to the government. It's tough for a lot of people in haulage etc

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Willyfarns Interesting, MK3s are usually Volkwagon's in the U.S. or even Mk4 Toyota Supra.
      I wonder if mine would be called a MK5 because I have the 1.5 liter :)
      I have relatives in Germany, they also pay a tax based on their cars engine size.

    It's called Honda jazz in India, but unfortunately we get a 1.2 engine instead of 1.6 offered in usa.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's called a Honda Jazz in most of the world :)
      Originally it was called a Honda Fitta, which did not translate well in some countries.
      "Honda had originally planned to name the first-gen the Honda Fitta. Probably sounds ok to you? If you were in Scandinavia though that would be the same as calling the car “the Honda Pussy”!
      Wow, I wasn't aware of the the 1.2L model. The one we have in the states is 1.5L
