I have a 2010 and the seats do not do this. Could be the year, could be it’s only the Sport model. Even so. Super versatile car with loads of room and great gas mileage. Sad they are no longer made/sold in the US.
@@Pinetree282 awww yeah very sad! Mine is. 2012 and the back seats oscillate all the way down, idk about the front, I keep forgetting to check. Do your back seats oscillate all the way flat?
@JessicaBest. Yes. My back seats do go all the way up or completely flat. Super convenient for transporting lots of gear, plants, odd shaped things, etc. Awesome design. 🙂
Thank you for this. I'm planning to live in my Fit for a year to travel and work remotely. Right now, we have a 10-yr old dog who cannot make the trip, though, and my fiance is still in school, so I'm not certain when it'll be. The goal is to see the country (and some of Canada), and save up $$ for a downpayment on a house. Mainly I just want the freedom of a nomadic lifestyle. I used to move a lot when I was single and, while I now have a permanent home-base city that I'm in line with, that old gypsy heartbeat is getting stronger. The level of detail in your video gives me a lot of ideas! 👍
I am looking for a compact car that I can use for travel and Car Camp in.. This was VERY helpful and informative!.. Thank you and hope you have many more adventures.
Nice bro. I traveled across the US in my mazda 3 hatch. The fit was my second choice but i wanted the extra power of the mazda because crossing mountains with a loaded car can suck with 4 cylinders.
One car hack I love is to go to the dealership and get a spare key (or a couple!) made that doesn’t have the chip in it. Less than $10 each. Won’t start the car, but I can still open the door. From day one I hide the second (pricey) “chipped” key in the car. If I’m going somewhere iffy - kayaking, water water rafting, the beach, hiking, etc - I take the $10 non-chip key and leave the $150 key under the floor mat or whatever. (Also put a non chip key in a Hide-a-key as another layer of protection.) That way if I lose the $10 key or it gets wet or whatever, no big deal. Can still get into the car and can still drive it. Less bulky too. You do lose the push button “opener” and actually unlock the car with this method, but way worth it to me.
Only if you install a heavy duty roof rack, the bike and the totes could be nylon strap down to the racks, allowing you more space to live inside of your vehicle. Antonio, El tracto Mula
That just messes with the aerodynamics to impact gas mileage. Also, I didn't want my stuff to be exposed out there for theft as well as far stealthy reason.
I can't figure out what you did to make it completely flat. It doesn't go totally flat in my car but mine's a 2015. Maybe something changed? The front seat goes all the way back but it lies on top of the flattened back seat. The only way to make them flush is with the back seats up, which creates a neat sort of "lounge area" but not a flat area like a bed. I'm probably going to have to completely remove the back seats to make it work.
The original commercial showed some seat configuration that were not possible. Like what you were describing. I was upset when I learned it couldn't fold that way.
Miles, when I've slept in my car before, I felt the need to keep a window open at least a crack -- when I had a hatchback, I had blacked-out tinted windows in the rear and was able to keep those rear fold-out windows open for ventilation. Don't you feel the need for some fresh air flowing into the car while you're sleeping in your car?
During the time when I was traveling across the country, the weather was cooler with the exception of Chicago. I do crack the window that's closest to my head and have a USB fan circulating the air when it gets too stuffy so it wasn't much of an issue.
How does the Honda Fit feel on an interstate highway? Are you able to keep up with traffic. Also, are large pickups and 18-wheelers intimidating at all?
Not bad at all on all accounts. I was able to keep up with traffic. It was very good to have a little maneuverable car around cities like NYC. It got me through all sorts of weather.
I ended up with a new Kia Soul. Quick cross-over SUV with more room than the Fit and more cargo space. Not that I don't like the Fit - always wanted one - but when the 2020 Soul came out I found it had a lot more features. Plus I needed a very comfortable seat which it has with 10-way power settings. And it's only about 4 inches longer so very maneuverable and easy to park.
The organization made my slightly OCD self uncomfortable. ;) but I'm about to do this to a smaller degree with my Honda fit sport 2008. This helped me a lot in some of the things to think about. Thank you for the video!
Bathrooms are plentiful either at supermarkets, Starbucks, gas stations, Walmarts, and rest stops. Sleeping-wise, I use freecampsites.net, Walmart parking lots, or any campgrounds. It's not as bad as you think. Just watch this video and my other video at the end for more ideas.
Thanks. Actually I have a white fit too! And a little white dog (considered it may be challenging with a pet) I love my fit and I like your videos. I’ll keep watching.
@@Milestonerides but you don't unfold it when you're sleeping in the drivers seat, right? you use it more as a leveling system for your head? Or did I miss it? thanks

...bad MPG; ok...stealthiness of camping in 'hoods; i think the blackout windows are the tell; you're not fooling anyone LOL...i'll give up a few more gals of gas for all the room you gain with a car bike rack...i also use a torpedo cargo box next to the bike rack...
Cool! Im in the process of tricking out my Fit so super helpful to see what you've done. I was thinking about getting my windows tinted as dark as possible. Do you think that it would be sufficient or would it be better to make those window coverings? Also wondering about air flow. Thanks
I wouldn't get them tinted. I applied a tinted plastic film to the inside which is removable/reusable but also made window cover panels using cardboard covered in black cloth(cut from black bedsheets and sewn). This allows you to form fit the panels perfectly to each window, including the front, so that you can have all kinds of light inside and not a single crack gets through. Have been using almost daily for almost ten years and only had to reinforce the cardboard on the one I use on the back window which I built to have a fold at 1/4 distance from the right which gives it better staying grip than a fold at 1/2. The outer aspect of the panels is flat black cloth so it is virtually invisible under the tinted film. It is like a cloak of invisibility at night. The paint on the car is dark gray with some grainy brownish aspects which greatly helps to blend the effect. During the day I use the reflective side out on the front windshield so the black won't attract curiosity and it's almost pitch dark inside so that even in clear daylight at noon; it feels like you're sleeping at midnight.
My brother likes to go camping; his Dodge Caravan looks jam packed with stuff like your vehicle. What amazes me is that Johnny Lam travels across the USA on a bike, and fills up 4 panniers. Next cross country trip, he's got half a ton of stuff. ROFL!!! Btw, liked the vid; great to see you back on YT!
Why so much stuff when you know you can get by with a lot less? Are you making bigger meals? Changing clothes more often and/or doing laundry less often?
Dude I just figured out I can't trade my fit in for a CRV, so this is huge. I didn't realize the seats go back that far. I wouldn't have a bike either, so there's plenty of space in there for me! Nice!
I've got an 09 Fit, planning a road trip to bike as many national parks as I can over a month. Do you know if these things fit roof racks? Mine doesn't have one and I've had a hard time confirming what would actually fit. Probably would save a lot of room being able to keep the bike outside the car.
I have seen them outfitted with roof rack but you know your gas mileage will suffer when that happens. By how much? I'm not sure. I am eventually planning to put a hitch on so I can carry bikes with a rear bike rack. There will be some gas mileage issue but probably not as bad as having your bike on top of your car.

Just bought a Honda fit for traveling, mostly 2 or 3 day weekend camping at most. Really good ideas here.
I love my honda fit. it is packed with so much hiking stuff too. I take it to upstate NY, New Hampshire, and Maine.

That's exactly what mine does. It tilts flat onto the folded back seat. I just add a cushion to help flush it up to the front seat.
Yes. Same with my 2017. I’ve been experimenting with the passenger seat. Didn’t think about trying the driver’s seat.

USB powerd fans are ok but IMO do not provide enough airflow on those really hot days. Plus the small blades on high can often be noisy.

No. The rear seat folds flat.
