    Bro, how are we supposed to be able to tell shit from this video. You're composing and mixing WELL beyond a professional level. Literally everything gonna sound good with u behind the keys.

      I agree, which made it hard to judge first time around, but my choice would be Modern Scoring Brass, which gives you your money's worth!

    They all sound massive and bombastic. CSB will be my favorite once i get my grubby hands on it.

    I liked Angry Brass and Sample Modeling the most, but the others also sound good.
    Good comparison, Daniel! Thanks.

    They all sounded great and it’s now a matter of personal taste which you’d want more.
    MSB - brighter but thinner sound
    Angry/Caspian/SM - brighter and more pointed sound
    CSB - wider and more controlled sound
    Personally I’d choose CSB but again, they all sounded wonderful.

    I must admit your combination of SM and Angry Brass sounds best. Thanks for the video Daniel!

    Great comparison! In my ears MSB sounds the best, but also Angry Brass combined SM sounds great! Right now I'm using Century Brass, but your video makes me reconsider my current usage. Do you have some opinion about Infinite Brass as well?

    How much new drawing of CC’s and re-recording of parts did you have to do between libraries to get relatively identical performances to the original MSB version? And around what ranges of CC11 or CC 1 are you in for SM trumpet and PS libraries when you are writing this upper range cutting type of stuff?

    Discovered your channel today, top notch mockups.

    I think the trumpets in MSB sound great, and Angry Brass Trumpet Soloist (+ SM The Trumpet) is even better. It brings much more excitement to the piece than the CSB trumpets which don't quite get to the same level. However, with the horns, I like CSB better than the other options. They have a swashbuckling boldness & a rich golden tone that sounds very "Hollywood" to me.

    I'd love to see your processing of the samplemodeling and angry brass! I have both libraries, but I can't make it sound as awesome!!!

    Interesting comparison! Personally I prefer the combinations of different libraries here, especially because the SM Trumpet. Its soo standing out from the mass brass section and adds another level to the realism with its shiny, edgy character. Second place is MSB for my taste and 3. is CSB.

    Thank you! Why one tuba used instead of different?

    Great writing ! MSB clearly sounds the best, realistic, balanced, like a real recording. The other two are not bad, but rather sharp and thin, with less convincing dynamics.

    How do you double the trumpets patches? Do you use 2-4 solo patches or an ensemble?

    Great comparison :-) Remembered hearing Reaching the summit while considering MSB a couple of months ago, and really love your composition. Ended up buying MSB, so take that as a compliment ;-) I like MSB so far, will put it through the motions in a bigger mock up of a piece I just composed, will be it's first real trial. Liked your combination group too, for a more angry tone, if that is what one wants. CSB sounded okey-ish here, but as always when I hear CSB demos I think it sounds a bit sterile and dull and sometimes synthy, although not as much in this demo. Would love to see the score for this piece to learn from :-)

    Very nice comparison video, thank you for sharing this. I do wish you would have said your opinion though.

    Combination! MSB best dynamics, CSB thick sound, AB brighter, also you may add FORZO and some things of SSB.

    MSB sounds better then expected. I'll have to check those out.

    I think the combo was the best for sure. CSB sounds like one cohesive section, which is nice, but it’s lacking the hall tone and the aggression that angry brass and Caspian have!

    Hmm this is tricky, wish you would talk about the effort needed to get the sound out of each though! That's almost more important to me at this point than pure quality. (If I can reach 90% of the result with 50% of the effort...). I currently own CineBrass (complete), Spitfire Studio Brass Pro, Berlin Orchestra (including brass, but the berklee version with only 1 mic), Hollywood Orchestra (2 mic positions) and of course a bunch of other more ensemble type ones. I can get a good deal on JXL (I guess it is called Tom Holkenborg Brass now :)) and I am also considering Infinite Brass (I own infinite woodwinds) and getting into the Cinematic Studio Series. I'm somewhat drawm more to getting the cinematic studio series (as everyone raves about them, and I don't own any, plus they are supposedly easy to play). However, in this example, I probably would put my preference on your other two alternatives in terms of quality.

      Dude! Use what you have!! You have made extraordinary investments already! (But if you need one more, Holkenberg's seems impressive!)

    MSB sounds more Shiny and perhaps a bit more realist/closer to an orchestra,
    CSB is a bit Warmer/less shouty, and more Inteligible..
    Angry/Caspian/SM has a nice timbre too, but it's a bit too Bright for my taste, and has considerably more reverb..
    I would take MSB over Angry/Caspian/SM any day; bright but very good and realist, a good middle term.
    However I'm unsure about CSB vs MSB.. both are great in their own way!

  • @georgeguerrette
    @georgeguerrette 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice stuff!
    For this type of orchestral intensity, CSB blew MSB out of the water. And then, your Angry Brass+Caspian Horns+SM was superior to them all!

  • @jaketanner109
    @jaketanner109 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I preferred the combination brass...Performance Samples is great! SM is also quite good...sounded most realistic to me. CSB was the worst for me...very thin and small sounding (and not just because it was lower in volume).

      For shorts yeah it's fine. For legato they're adding an update soon that adds a new FFF layer
