- SECRET SAMPLE LIBRARIES - that give you an edge? How do you sound different in a world where so many musicians use the same sound libraries? Go in search of small independent producers who turn out incredible original sample libraries. Today I've found not one but two of them! Triumph Audio is the brainchild of composer Kevin Manthei and produces boutique off-the-wall sample libraries that are really inspiring. Have Audio are new to me and they sound great - watch out for the most bonkers user interface I have ever seen!

OK you will probably notice that Hugh (the video guru) had no hand in this - I just did it this afternoon and my final cut skills are lamentable
The nordic cello is amazing. Went to their website and listened to the 45 min demo of it. It's worth checking out. Thanks for showing us this
yes Linda I really was impressed as well
Agreed. Drool. Salivate.
I also recommend checking out Have Audio's Nordisk Kontrabass
I bought it and used it to compose an entire film score.
There are plenty of fantastic boutique library vendors that make stuff that I love to use in my productions. Have Audio is a good example. Have you also heard of these:
- Realitone
- Impact Soundworks
- Muze
- Embertone
- Dark Intervals
- Karanyi Sounds
- Rast Sound
I think these guys produce great quality "niche" content which is perfect for cinematic/ambient/game productions, and even for other genres like drill, trap, lofi, etc.
big fan of ISW and embertone!
Hi Guy! Thank you so much for your talent, your genius, and your attitude. You inspired me to keep with it, and now I have a release out on major platforms. I really can't thank you enough. Really appreciate your witty humor, your amazing style of videos. Huge amounts of gratitude from me!
The Have Audio stuff is absolutely lovely! Balkan Clarinet and Sax sounded great and the UI is just amazing! xD
Thank you, Guy for showcasing some of the smaller guys, as well as the big guys.
Yup its important
Thanks Guy, I'm an huge fan and don't miss your videos.
Thanks to you I bought a keyboard and started doing compositions for a theatre play, after an invitation of a friend of mine. Now I'm working on my 2nd theatre play compositions, Your videos really helped me a lot.
Absolutely two of my fav small devs!
yes me too
Thanks for doing what I love doing and it's simply exploring a new sound library because it's there! All I need to do is watch you spin through it instead of me. So good. Right on.
Hi guy, here to say I love your videos and you inspired me at my beginning so much! Your channel is my safe musical to be and I aprecciate so much your work!
You are very welcome
Hi guy
Always nice to have alternatives and support small artists/businesses. Thanks Guy!
Amazing ! Thanks for this video Guy! 👍😀
Fantastic show today…Guy makes learning fun!
Music is joy and life is better with it. You prove this Guy! Cheers.
Oh dear... I too remember seeing Old Yeller and the trauma I endured. The movie ends (spoiler alert) with a new generation of puppies bounding across the screen so I suppose there was some lesson there about the circle of life...
Thank you Guy, your passion for the subject and wit are infectious and make music exactly what it should be for us amateurs - *fun*. Thank you so much !
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation I enjoyed too! Thank you. You are teaching us and making the videos in a very positive way that don't tired us.
Fantastic stuff! Thank you
Enjoyed your insightful advice and basked in your honest reaction when it came to teacup music.
Can't wait to see what the world of today holds in terms of plugins and instruments.
Honestly that interface made my day
Your Old Yeller story DID make me chuckle 🤣 bless 😁🙏
Thank you for this. I love stradivari Cello & Violin. Also a "secret" :)
Second "vote" for Teletone Audio. Not really quirky and probably not so niche but whatever they do sounds great.
Nordic Cello…just Wow!!!!
Loved the video today. I burst out laughing with the "Old Yeller" bit, I know I shouldn't have, but I too was equally traumatized by that movie, when I was a kid. My parents obviously went "It's a Disney movie, perfect for our 5 and 9 year olds".... Both I and my brother wouldn't let our family dog out of the house for at least a month after being subjected to that movie. So afraid were we that "Trixie" would get rabies.... I can look back and laugh now....
What were they thinking?!
have audio bass recorder is awesome !
That Nordic Cello sounds amazing.
Yes interesting and different
Inspired video. Thanks for the emotions and feelings. It looks like i'm a kid again)
Very very nice
thank you
Thank You so much!
Love your work Guy. Thank you for the tutorials. May I ask you though what screen cast software do you use? I use OBS and it's not as clear as your screen shares. Impressive sir 👍
That kantele sounds fantastic. I love everything dulcimer-like.
Really good love this stuff
How do you know? I just kantele... 😂
Buying everything….soon!
Good choice
Brilliant, as usual! :)
thank you
That Nordic Cello was surprisingly good in the arpeggiator mode. Sounded super naturalistic.
I tend to limit my libraries after a while to go to analog sound that sounds like you hired a studio musician to play on a track. But this stuff is great.
What sample rate do you prefer/recommend for orchestral composing in cubase? Is 44 is enough (set it and forget as some guys recommend) or do is better to go 48-96+) Thanks! (Your channel is the best btw! :)
13:09 this is very reminiscent of the music Mike Flanigan uses for Haunting of Hill House / Midnight Mass, love it
its exactly that kind of vibe
Old Yeller - saw it too. Real “heart string” tugger😀
Except now everyone knows about them. Dang! Hahaha. Great video, as always, Guy. x
This is awesome!!! Starting to sound a bit like Hans Zimmers Dune!!! 😂😂😂
Very cool! For library hogs like me (point taken...stop buying and start composing!) I love new and interesting sounds. You never know what might light your DAW on fire. ha.
True
thanks for sharing
Those are really nice Instruments. Please more of those "Secret" Librarirs. I just stumbled upon: Void & Vista's Strands. An absolute Modulation Monster
Void and vista are great
@@ThinkSpaceEducation You should get commission from the disk drive companies for folks buying more storage space. :)
Hi Guy, awesome video! Idk if you've done this before, but I would love a video how to use the instrumentation in an orchestral filmusic piece to embrace the different emotions you have in movies! you have tested ALOT of sounds and know quite a bit about a plugin or two, and I would really appreciate your approach to different emotions using different plugins/orchestra (if that made any sense). Thanks for cool vids I can spend the whole night here in Norway watching
.
I actually did one like that recently!
Some of Guy's past videos do instrument selection and scoring to film. Guy actually got me interested in DAW mixing. In 2020, got me thinking about Cubase and seemed easy in his hands. Since then got into mixing in the box, started a SoundCloud channel, all to go along with my live-mixing I do at my church. Speaking of night in Norway - soon you'll have the long winter nights ahead for videos and mixing :)
ooh thanks Guy :)
You’re welcome
I don't need more libraries. I need more time to fully learn the ones I already have.
An Awesome video as always.
thank you - fairly low key and unplanned but fun I hope
@@ThinkSpaceEducation love the teacup
I can see that you are using mac and it looks the latest one. I am not sure if it is M2, but if is m2, can you do a video on how it is performing fo rmusic production. I remember that before you have used windows, starting with Win7. I am curious to know what your experience with those operation systems?
This is brilliant! I was wondering if you could move the sugar cube just before you did so😂
Hilarious UI and that's not a phrase you say often
Sure youve done it before but would love a video like this on free samples!
Of course and there are some new ones check out project Sam
@@ThinkSpaceEducation thanks
Guy, have you tried Augmented Strings by Arturia? It's very good and unlike any other string library. 😎
Very entertaining video Sir :))
thank you
Hi Guy. Have you ever explored Alchemy in Logic?
I have a question what's a good video to watch on downloading rar files some Downloadersbi have trouble with as it takes hours to download the files. I was told if I download manually it would be easier
TELETONE audio are top tier rn for me
Aha better check them out
I like This. Very fun and I want to know what else is out there.
Yes me too there are loads of small producers doing cool stuff
Do these have to play through Kontakt? Or are they universal to any DAW?
Thanks,
Gianni❤
They all appear to require the full version of kontakt. But kontakt itself is universal if you have it.
@@rodertera Thanks! I have Kontakt, just don’t like using it. ✌🏼
Full version of kontakt for these - but that is the real value of the full version - all these cool libraries yo can now use
Ha ha I was also emotionally scarred by Old Yeller....actually I didn't even remember the story, just the horror... Thanks for all the wonderful and helpful videos.
Honestly we need a support group
@@ThinkSpaceEducation 😄 Absolutely
Gotta love the indie developers! :)
me too
:)@@ThinkSpaceEducation
Perfect for gaming composers
Yes completely
A droning monk deep choral track over that would sound good.
😂😂😂The film "Ring of bright water " made my sister and I burst into tears in the Cinema,Dad assumed it was going to be a good wholesome family film about an Otter
Which it was until the last act😂😂😂😊
Gif yes the otter - why do people make films with endings like that!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation th-cam.com/video/4gaPklj5dgM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KR9MSW5f9VmXaKLo
@@ThinkSpaceEducation A very unusual but beautiful score😁👍
When the shovel came down my heart fell through my pants 🤣🤣🤣
Best doggone dog in the West
13:37 most Disney movies focus on the death of a main character. Think about it.
I suppose seeing Old Yeller as kid was bad. For me, it was Watership Down. The old Lord of the Rings was a bit rough too...
Traumatic
Most of the Have Audio stuff is pretty good. It does pay to take a few minutes to open their documentation and read it. :-P
OK guilty
My dad was so mad at me that i didn't cry at Old Yeller but was destroyed by Dumbo. So mad. I was, like, 6.
Disney have a lot to answer for
Maybe the first video in your list that doesn´t start with "hello everybody"? Guy, everything is ok with you? 🙂
I know! I just pushed the button
Hi Guys 🎉
I just need samples that bring me "Close to the edge", that was a masterpiece!!😁🎵🎤🎸🎹🎶🎶Play On
:)
There are no small sample developers…just small musicians… :)
So I have this weird image of tiny matchstick size musos
Hello ^^
Hello!
Guy, pizza or tacos?
Pizza - actually literally just finished one!
Dark and ominous. Everything sounds the same these days. So tired of dark or demonic garbage. Really miss when music was inspiring and fun.
Yes inspiring and fun / that’s a video right there - your request is noted
Lots of light, comedy, ambient and sci-fi beautiful stuff to be found in the same libraries Guy demoed. There is room for lots of styles with these libraries!
I'd love you to try out my best-selling "Solisti" library! 🙂
I enjoyed that 🙂
Hi, I am passionate like you about quality sound banks and I did not know haveaudio, thank you very much always super interesting to see you do the demonstrator musically🤩🎚️✨🎹🙏📸🤠
