- Just like cars modern day washing machines share some similar technology. They both rely heavily on computers to operate efficiently. In this video we diagnose an LG front load washer and fix the IE diagnostic code.

I have an LG that water is the issue, getting an IE error code. Changed the intake hoses, checked the water filter on the intake hoses, even cleaned the drainage hose. Still IE.
Now, you showed me there’s the diagnostic mode, so I’ll use that.
I think it’s the water intake valve just like you showed in the video. Been waiting for a repair guy to come since I called two weeks ago. Getting desperate enough to try things myself. You made it look easy! I’m hoping to fix it myself as repair guy costs $199 just for a house call.
I had my fill of washer, dryer, and refrigerator repairs in the last year. Good work.
Great diagnostic video, thanks for going so into depth on this!
Nice video. Clear explanation. Good that you did tear open the solenoid and showed the failed diaphragms. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment.
Super helpful!!! After running through diagnostics found out my washer with same error code was faulting during pump-out due to drain hose being shoved too deep into drain pipes. Pulled drain hose up/out and working fine now.
Thank You so much for sharing your knowledge, you’re an awesome teacher very detailed and explained all so well.
Thanks for your comment Julia.
Nice job on the washer repair. I bet it is going to get a workout now. 👍
Great explanation and superb fix. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Terry
Man, you just saved me at least 50 bucks. Awesome video! Thank you so much!
Glad I could help! The tip jar is open! 😉
Great job, one of the better tutorials of its kind.
Thanks Thomas
Thank you so much! Had this machine since 2009. Replaced the bearings 3 years ago. Never knew about the diagnostic buttons until today. It was simply the connector hose popped off. Popped it back on......good as new. Guess I didn't pull it taunt enough on the reassembly last time....
Lesson learned. Bet you won't make that mistake again Dr Funk. Those easy fixes are nice!
@@ozzstars_cars Yes sir. Not having to wait & pay for parts is nice too! Thanks again...
Hy how are you,on this one I have failed but to the errors such as DE,OE,FE I was fixing them but this one hmmmmm plzy help me😢
@@RegisMoyoWhich error code is giving you grief????
Thank you sooo much, this is very helpful
GREAT video!! Entertaining and educational. =)
Thank you Dania!
Thank you very much. Fixed my 6 yrs old washing. (Hammering that thing fixed it)
Great diagnostic video. I believe that is my problem.
Good luck with the fix. Let us know what you find.
Thanks man, my LG problem was the rubber pipe who connect the drum water level to the rounded solenoid, was loose.
Thanks again.
You're welcome Raul.
That was awsome that really helped me alot keep up the good work thx
Good deal Troy!
great explanation on the repair
Thanks Mark.
Great video. Thanks man !
You got it!
It looks like you could disassemble the old unit quite easily to check for blockage, the new one, not so much.
True.
awesome buddy. thank you for sharring
You're welcome Luis. Glad the video was helpful.
Well done!
Thanks Chuck!
Great video !
Thanks!
Good explanation, please how can I put diagnostic mode
great video. We live in house with a well. Big issues with sand and grit. I have cleaned out the filter hoses go into, but the second screen doesn't come out as easy. What do you think about having a filter between water output and washer?? You got a new subscriber out of me. Thanks. ( and I am going to have my wife watch too!)
A whole house filter would do your entire home good. Thanks for subscribing!
Thanks
Thank you
👍
What about if the machine won't go from washing to spinning? Can't find anything about that. In the diagnostic without clothes everything seems to be working fine.. with clothes the spin causes a violent jumping.
How much water should they be using? I just got one that seems to just wet them tolill they are heavily damp
Isn't there a screen where the lines hook to the unit that could cause this error code sir?
Did you dyno test it after the repair? :) No seriously - nice *clean* job of the repair G.
Haha thanks.
Thanks!!
Welcome!
Thanks,, for splaining this. Were you at a customers house?
Yes
The LG crack pipe lives to smoke another day! That thing had an ECU in it! Wonder if it needs programming upon replacement? :D
Now that I watched this, mine is going to take a dump on me, lol! I've had pretty good luck with it over the years. Maytag Neptune, 2003. She'll be 18 this July! Only problems I've had in that time was a spin cycle code with a failure to spin and get water out of the clothing (That was due to a piece of sound-deadening foam that fell out of position and down, and landed where it decreased the clearance between the drum and the imbalance switch by 4"! The slightest wobble would then trip the switch - no parts needed fix!), and the front rubber seal for the door. That one was a job! I had to use my drum brake spring tools to release these 2 HEAVY springs! I had a fight on my hands, but in the end I won. I definitely could've used another set of hands there. Can't really complain after almost 2 decades of use.
I had to tear the dryer down as well around year 5, since it was squeaking twice per revolution, driving us nuts, lol. I tore the whole thing down and greased the shaft on a pair of idler or guide wheels for the drum. I've done this twice so far. They were dry from the factory. I need to tear it down again for a cleaning before we have a lint fire here.
Ozzstar's Cars and Appliances channel! :D Nice work, Glen!
Hey Smitty you better keep that washer and dryer in tip top shape so the wife won't have any excuse not to do the laundry. Ooops, don't tell her I said that. 😆😜😆
@@ozzstars_cars - HAHAHA! She's got to start towing the line here. Now where's my whip ... 🤣
Hi, GREAT VIDEO. My issue with my LG front load washer is it will not fill, but when I did the diagnostic and toggled between tests with top cover off, I felt water coming through all hoses just NOT when doing a normal wash. I looked inside each inlet with its filter, all good. I get 120v, zero resistance with multimeter. I ordered Hot and cold solenoids just in case. Is it most likely the solenoids? Just can't figure out why if not, because they do work during diagnostics. Thank you VERY much just don't know what do do when I swap out parts and it isn't solenoids
Did you test each solenoid like I showed in the video?
@@ozzstars_cars yes sir, voltage 119v and zero ohms on each solonoid, ohms test done with power off and comnectors off, just will not fill during a regular wash but during diagnostic all hoses put out and did crimp test to stop flow and the minutes i decrimp full blast.thanks for taking time to answer back
@@ozzstars_cars Replaced solenoids that arrived today, no dice, no water fill except when running diagnostics, thanks anyway, maybe it's main control board in rear of unit
@@ozzstars_cars Also I only replaced the cold solenoid, never bothered with replacing hot solenoid, if that matters. I did cold only and attempted cold water wash and nothing came out
@@intelligenceondisplay9189 is the solenoid receiving power and ground? If not further diagnostics needed.
Could you do a connectivity test with Hohms mode just to see is there broken wire in the coil of each solenoid
Testing for proper voltage would be a better way to diagnose.
Have f14a8qds which fills with water, spraying water in the soap compartment, filling the drum with water, and gives me ie error in the first few minutes of operation.
Filter is clean. inlet valve plugged?
Test and don't guess! Impossible to diagnose over the internet but I hope this video has given you some direction to solve the issue. Let us know what you discover. -Glen
Hopefully fixed now...
Ordered a new intake valve. Was only a small amount of money. Good to have.
Then I removed the cover. Found the hose for the pressure sensor was loose.
@@lagresomadsl I believe I talked about that potential prob in the video. 👍
What was the problem with the old selenoid? Was it just dirty?
Did you watch the part of the video where I take the old solenoid apart or skip through?
@@ozzstars_cars , I saw you like hitting it and squeezing the hoses. I’ll watch it again, was useful and entertaining anyway.
Hi, I replaced the cold water inlet and I am still getting the IE error code. I can see the water getting filled for the tub clean cycle, however when running the normal wash cycle, around 25 minutes into it I get the IE error. Any tips to where else to look for resolution?
Did you do the other diagnostics mentioned in the video?
Yes, I did run the diagnostic mode and all seems to be checking out. I will check the pressure switch pipe and will to blow the air when I get home. Also, will try pinching those inlet pipes.
I just tried with diagnostic mode, and when pressing the pipes from the inlet valve to the machine, I can feel water on for Hot water, and one of three cold water inlets during diagnostic, seems like that's pre wash inlet, and nothing for other two when I move the test to next. I will buy the multimeter to see if those two inlets are getting 130 v current or not. The pressure switch hose is clean, gor bubbles sound when used your method.
Yhanku
Belay my last you just mentioned it,sorry about that
Before you even open the machine, remove the water inlet supply hoses and pull the screens out and see if they are clogged. Clean if necessary. That is the most commonly reason for low water flow.
Good idea.
10:57 😂😂😂😂
🤣
1st boom
my chinese trash is broken too
Everything breaks, some sooner than later.
Went through every step everything works, diagnostic shows all solenoid working.... Still ie error. I hate LG
What's the error?
@@ozzstars_cars i3 inlet error. I replaced the solenoid with an OEM LG part and it STILL kicks the same error. I'm trying the pressure switch next since it seems to not be aware that water is filling.
Annoying that designs aren't made to last.
Everything these days is thrown away.
@@ozzstars_cars Valid and positive point. It's an advantage and a gain for those like us who like to fix things.
