This tutorial is for when a washing machine will not fill with water but works OK on spin. If your machine does not fill at the start or stops in mid cycle with no water in the drum or it won’t rinse then there is normally a problem with the water intake system. If you've come to this article because your washer won’t do anything then you might want to look this article on door locks.

Brilliant. Clear, concise and easily understood. Bought a cheap multimeter and used it to prove one of the solenoids was faulty. Bought a cheap, new and genuine part of ebay, fitted it as per the video. Back in business and no service engineer charges. Thanks again, fantastic.

Very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Here's a warning for anyone moving a washing machine - don't transport it on its back. I did this today and accidentally severed all the wiring from the intake valves to the motherboard. Consequently, although the machine appeared to perform normally other than there was no water getting in. I only noticed this after following all Paul's tip to diagnose the water issue. Another small point is that I couldn't get connectivity across the terminals of the intake valves but was fairly sure they were ok as I checked my old Indesit solenoids too and they were exactly the same. Perhaps something peculiar to Indesit machines? They are working now the wiring is connected so not really sure why I couldn't get a circuit.

Great tutorial video! I follow the first protocol step of troubleshooting. A clogged filter screen at the cold water inlet right behind the old washer. Bingo! The washer now has water delivery and functioning normal again.

Most importantly ... is that a Fluke 77? I have one from around 1994 :) :) :) All the "experts" kept telling me "it's old - you need to replace it" ... I just replaced the battery and hey presto! All fixed. Current generation have no idea how to fix things other than to ask Mum and Dad to sort it out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Clean both of the screens in each inlet inside the washer hose inlet. There are two screens for each cold and hot on the washer.. One is inside the machine inlet that you can't see, and one outside the machine that you can barely see, it has a tab you pull out. Use a flashlight and look inside the inlet tube or nipple that's threaded, after you take the first screen off you'll see it.. My inside screen was clogged bad, so I just took it out with a flathead screwdriver, and eliminated it totally. Both hoses were good, I saved some money, didn't need new hoses... All fixed.

Could it be the pressure valve not putting in enough water
Thanks a ton man! Our washing machine stopped pumping water in it so i checked your video and tested everything and I think I'm up to something. Its the small red pressure switch, I think. After blowing in it it clicks but when i attached it and tried the washing machine again. I noticed it clicks really fast after which the water stops flowing in (it switches in the inlet coils to stop water flowing). So then i removed the air tube from it and tried it again. Basically there can never be pressure on it that way and the water kepts flowing.
Now the big question. Should I replace the pressure switch or is there still something different that can cause the switch to click?

Hi Paul, what if you have hot water filling the drum and nothing coming out of the cold water? Thoughts?
I just bought a washing machine, LG front loader.The water system that I installed , no problem because I checked the hose, the water speed is ok. But when I started washing the indecator showed that the water is not enough. How can I repare this?

My Beko Washer was filling and draining simultaneously! I pulled the drain hose a little so that it is not too deep into the machine (to avoid siphoning) then raised the hose a bit coz i was draining on the bathroom floor and it worked ( literally hang it on a bucke)t😜!!!
There is no power hears relay click but wires are fine valves are good swapped and also tried the pressure switch what could it be
Washing machine would stop mid cycle when on cold water cycle. I changed the cold water inlet valve, put everything back together and it worked fine for about 6-7 months. Then the wife tells me the machine shuts off mid cycle when she uses hot water. I change the hot water inlet valve, put it back together and it does the same thing "Starts then stops mid cycle. I had partially kinked the hot water hose when I changed the cold water valve and it eventually collapsed on itself causing the problem. Thanks to the advise in this video the machine is working like new again!!

Not sure if this is washer related but basically the water in my house runs fine except for the cold water from the lever tap in the kitchen. I believe the washer is also connected to the wiring and the tap literally dribbles out cold water. Because of this the washing machine is unable to fill up with water. What could the problem be here?
mine is a Kenmore front load washer that it will get water in to the machine only when manually put it on spin cycle and that will work fine or rinse and spin but when I switch to a normal wash won't get water in and the washer suddenly start washing with out water after 2 it will drop down washing time from 54 min to like 2 min and no water at all any suggestions?

My washing machine doesn't work on ANY wash cycle. It's a Hotpoint and has just flashed a F1 error and said it is blocked. I just checked the filter on the bottom of the washing machine and just water came out, nothing else stuck there. I'm going to have a look at the filter on the back and pull it out like you just showed and hope that is it. Would appreciate any help. Thanks

I'm hoping you can help me with this problem. I have a samsung top load washer (wa40j3000aw) and the hot water doesn't work, I have tested the solenoid and the water lines all work fine. My problem is the connector, the cold water line is getting 120 volts (american standard) but the extra rinse and hot water only get 40 volts. So I know its a problem with the wiring, I just don't know what to replace to fix that problem?
Hi, any one can get me the user manual, operating instruction of WMC 61013 ER - Westpoint front loading washing machine.
I have indesit washing machine model LB2006TRF. It will fill water just for a few second to a minute then stop but the machine will still be washing for some minutes until you see h20 error code. I checked with my multi meter and saw that when the water stops flowing, power supply to the inlet valve will totally be cut off which stops the water flowing.
Now could it be the pressure sensor faulty?The water hose isn't blocked as well. Could it again be the hose to the pressure sensor or what? Please advise me. Thanks

Great video! I do have one technical question. What happens if you try to do a cycle without any water supply, say there is temporary water shutdown? Obviously the valves will open, buzzing noise from the electricity that activates the coil will be heard, the machine will try to pull water, but there won't be any causing the machine to stop and show error. My question is, how much damage (if any) can this cause to the machine? Asking for technical knowledge. Thanks!
On old machines it would just stop on newer it will come up with error code. but you can't do any damage

My Beko machine stops after work seconds of water filling and then the whole cycle is cancelled after another two to three minutes. The spin cycle does work though. What to do?
After trying to fix broken faucet I took out the water main out and then tried to reinsert it with the water on despite all the wet spray. Could it be that the water spray got all the electric valves wet and they need to dry off?

Are you meaning a separate circuit board not attached to the water valve in anyway because sometimes the manufacturers have circuit boards on the water valve
dear sir i have LG top loading T1232AFFSP5 washing machine i want to take signal from the washing machine to electric contactor to operate water electric motor automatic . in my old machine i take the volt on the inlet valve and connect it to the contactor which control the water pump when the valve open the water pump on and vise virsa .
so now iam afraid from the new machine because it has electric board not analog like before also now i have 4 inlet valves so i have 4 different signal i have to manage . do you have any ideas please help .regards
Hi the problem with my aeg front loader is the water is going straight to the drainage and spilling out the filter on the bottom when you put it on any cycle. It’s bypassing the machine and going straight to drain

"Answer: Your washer DRAIN HOSE is causing a siphoning condition. Your washing machine drain hose is pushed way too far into the stand pipe in the wall. There needs to be an air gap and by having the drain pipe pushed too far there is no air gap. This creates a vacuum or siphoning affect and the water is pulled out of the washer as it fills with water. What you need to do is pull the drain hose out of the stand pipe and put it back in making sure it is not in the wall too far or too deep. There needs to be a bend at the apex of the drain hose. It needs to be above the height of the wash tub. Once you have the drain pipe or hose in the exact position you need it to be in to not cause siphoning, tie the drain hose to the water fill hoses with a plastic zip tie so it can’t fall back down deep or pull out".

One year old samsung with a bad cold water relay. Pipes were flawless. Hot water filter was disgusting, never even knew that was a thing until this happened.

Hi,I have a Hoover optima WMH147 DF. The problem that I have is that the machine is not filling, no water flows at all. I've checked the water pressure, checked for kinks in the hose, checked the filter in the inlet, then eventually changed the valves / solenoids all of which has not remedied the problem. I've checked with a very basic voltage tester that the solenoids are getting electricity, and they are. The machine will run through a spin cycle with no problem but will not do a wash because of the above fault. I'm now thinking of changing the pressure switch, is there any point? and after that I'm buying a new machine. Any advice would be most welcome.

Hi , sorry I have no advice for you. I eventually give up and bought a new machine, extremely annoying! I tested the pressure switch and found no fault. concluded that it must be the board and at that point give up. worst machine I've ever had.

What is this problem if washing machine loads and unloads water just after 2 circle ?
Does anyone know how to adjust the water levels on the Bosch type in this video ? I have that and would like to alter it to increase water levels. Is there a way of doing it on this ?
The only way you can do this is adjust the settings on the pressure switch if it is a mechanical type if it is not, then you would not be able to do it. It might be possible to change the pressure bowl to a different size, and this would automatically adjust the amount of pressure going to the pressure switch not really practical though
@@How-to-repair I was told a longer pipe to the drum could possibly help, so ive ordered one to try. Is the pressure bowl the part at the bottom of the drum that connects to the hose?
Yes, it's the clear bowl that attaches to the hose or drum
@@How-to-repair Id actually give it a go but id have to find something with the same 5mm diameter connector of the hose. Not sure where id find a bowl with connectors like that ??

water flows to the pre--wash detergent drawer, but not the main detergent drawer, then after 1min, it shows E10 error. My Electrolux front load washer is less than 1 month old.😣

@@sabrinafurley3092 Hi, I contacted a non-Electrolux mechanic, he did a thorough test and concluded that the valve needs to be replaced. Since my machine is still under warranty, I waited for Electrolux's mechanic to fix it. Strangely, he didn't even need to "open up " the machine to replace the valve. He just pressed some buttons on the panel to "reset" the system, and it started working again!

have you checked if valve is getting voltage? if not might be bad wire or pcb, also check float chamber

I had a problem with water not draining so took the pipes off near the drum / pressure valve and found a blockage there, put it all back together but now it won’t fill up at all , just a humming noise , the water is flowing to it fine and the valve filters are clean , any ideas ??

There aren't 230 volts across the water inlet valves. You surely meant 120 volts.

All three valves failed at the exact same time because all three valves show no continuity across their respective terminals......Bull shit.
