Best Video ever. I am a 47 year old woman. I watched the video ....order the part... And when the water sound came on. I had some choice words of joy that even I could do it.
I don't normally make online comments but it would be shameful of me not to thank you. I have spent countless hours downloading manuals and watching videos and replacing parts and was ready to give up and buy a new washing machine and then I watched your video. I had it narrowed down to an obstruction in the pressure chamber but saw that it was fused to the tub and had no idea how to get to it to clear it. Blew through the hose a few times as you suggested in your video and I could hear it clearing and there was a very foul smelling odor. Running a load of wash right now and it made it to the rinse cycle :) Can't thank you enough!
Great video! Hose plugged on my 45 yr old Maytag. Blew it out and bam! - running like new. I'm not sure which I like better - my Maytag or my 18 yr old Corolla with 300K miles and ZERO issues.
So my washer kept filling up and would over flow thanks to your 2 videos its fixed!!!!! READERS it could also be your hose is pinched. my son and i done what you said in other video about unplugging and seeing if water still ran and it did not so my son and i tried what this video said when we opened it up we took the hose off. we could not blow through it found out it was pinched. ty so much. my 12 year old figured it out. lol so proud A repair man was going to charge just to look at it the said the part i might need and labor would be around 150 single mom means thats a lot of money 💰 lol Again ty so much for these videos.
This is the only video that clearly explained everything, and offered the last bit of advice at the end which was my problem. I blew it with compressed air from the switch, and it worked again. Thanks for the thorough video
Hi Bill, I should buy you a beer, or tickets to the game! My relatively new, but out of warranty, LG front loader suddenly started over-filling, then failing with a water Inlet Error. After watching your video, I removed the top cover and the first thing I spotted was the tube had slipped off the pressure switch. You have saved me a small fortune in repair bills. You're a star, keep up the good work. I'm going to tell all my friends about your channel.
Thanks Bill. I went out and bought a meter and found that the switch was good so I followed your advice and gave the tube a blow. It seemed hard at first but got easier after 10 seconds. I plugged things in and put it back together and it was back to work. It wasn't filling water and the agitator would turn on. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks. I checked my pressure valve and found the line was completely blocked where it’s attached to the drum. Works like new. Thanks you saved me $500 at least.
I’ve watched about 3 of your videos today because my washer was overfilling and I didn’t want to bother my landlord on a weekend. You made everything so easy to learn, I just pulled off the front panel and cleaned some gunk out of the water pressure tube and so far so good! I feel like such a bada** for being able to fix it myself, thank you so so much for your videos!
Dude! Totally helped me find and solve the problem with a Maytag washing machine that had been stored in a garage for two years. Turned out mice had built a nest in the top compartment where the controls/wiring are and had chewed a hole in that pressure tube. I was able to patch it and it’s working as well as I remember. Tested the action on the pressure switch with a multimeter just to make sure it was working while I was in there and your instructions were spot on. Thank you so much for this clear and helpful video!
Perfect. I solved my problem (even though it wasn't highlighted here). A heavy load knocked my pressure switch off the bottom. Following the guidance, I knew I didn't have a switch/electrical issue, and when I blew into the hose from the top it wasn't blocked, but then I checked the hose on the other end and ... fixed!
Bill thank you for this excellent video. It's 2023 and my 2006 Whirlpool top loader overflowed on me. Happened with the load size set to "Super" and it seemed that the fill level was too high (but not overflowing) even when set to Ex Small. After watching your video, I took the path of least resistance, and blew through the pressure sensing hose. It was definitely clogged, and everything is working good again. Less than 10 min effort. Much appreciated!!!
This info was invaluable to me, thank you. I need to share.. I needed to replace a the gearbox so I decided to give the machine a complete strip, pressure wash and reassemble tlc. I forgot to reattached the sensor pipe so on the 1st wash the machine didn't stop filling and pissed water all over the bathroom. I blew into the pipe to clear it and reconnected it to the sensor. It didn't work, the machine kept filling. After burning braincells the test on this vid solved the issue. I started up the machine (kept the water closed tho), I disconnected the sensor pipe from the drum, cleared out a little leftover waterin the pipe n blew into it, toward the sensor. The machine started functioning. I reconnected and all is working well. The issue was that there was a little water left in the pipe, so make sure that the pipe is clear of ANY water of the sensor won't function!
You rock, Bill. Mine shows 23 ohms regardless of how much pressure is applied ( the diaphragm can be heard clicking). Pins 1 and 2 show open in both states. This after LG support ASSURED me that only filling 3" of water with a full load was normal. Thank you... New switch on the way!
Bill thank you. I watched several videos on my washer and you were the only one that said also try blowing through that tube to remove any obstructions. And after everything else checked out I did that and it was plugged and fixed the problem. Thank you again.Randy.
Thank you sir! Your video was spot on. It wasn’t anything electrical at all. I simply checked the pressure sensor hose and sure enough, it was plugged. After I cleared it, the washing machine returned to it’s normal function. Thank you again for your helpful video. Cheers!
Last week I watched one of your videos and replaced a part of the washing machine. After two cycles it stopped working. It overfilled and did not start washing. I saw this video today and decided to check the pressure switch but the moment that I so the hose, it had unplugged. Thanks so much for your videos.
Thanks for your clear explanation. My machine was not filling with water & when I opened up the washing machine i found the pressure switch hose was kinked just before it attaches to the pressure switch so i simply cut it back to below the kink (about 30mm) reattached it, hooked up the water inlet hose, plugged in the power cord & its working very well. Thank you. Ohh & my Simpson Genesis 524 is almost 20 years old.
Thanks for this video. I was getting ready to buy the inlet valves and came across this. Blew on the pressure switch hose and it was clogged. Machine is working like normal now. 👍
Thank you for the video and the tip. I currently have a Speed Queen AWN that suddenly quit filling the tank with water. Checked the hoses, water inlet valve continuity, and the next step is to check this pressure switch.
Thank you thank you thank you so so so so much, the repairman didn't show up but I managed to blow out the debris and now I have a perfectly normal working washing machine. May you find ease in all you do :-)
Great video Bill! Thanks. If the washer isn't filling and the pressure switch is fine and the washer valve/solenoid checks out as well, there is a fuse on some models between the pressure switch and the controller which may be the problem. Replace it with a 4amp quick blow fuse.
Excellent video. Good explanation. I'm sure that if the hose is broken or has a leak, the air pressure will never reach the sensor.....I think that should be mentioned as well showing how to test the hose for air leaks. Thanks for this videos. Good work.
This is a very good instructional video. Very clear and concise instructions on an otherwise tricky subject. I'm having the overfill issue at the moment. One thing I did not see or hear is the multi-meter setting you are using, it's entirely possible I missed it and need to watch it again, which I'm about to do now. Could you list those setting in your comments. Some of us are idiots when it comes to using a multi-meter. Thanks again Bill, keep up the great work!
Thanks Bill for the video -- well done. My issue was the air chamber (I have a front loader). It was backed up and blunting the pressure switch. The machine is purring like a kitten now and I am a happy camper. It feels good to finally have the washer machine working.
Thank you for you trouble shooting videos. I was able to troubleshoot my Maytag LAT8704AAE washer that suddenly stopped filling. First TH-cam video said it was the water control valve, so I ordered it. Then I found your troubleshooting videos on the water control valve and the pressure switch. Checked the WCV it tested good. Proceeded step by step testing the PS (after I finally learned to open my machine) was confused everything tested good, even the “blow” test on the tube, but plugged the washed in a tested and it started filling. As it filled I noticed something white with a blue stripe floating in the water. Appears that a piece of Teflon tape was clogging the PS and the blow rest dislodged it. Thank you, I cancelled the $90 part at this time, but I probably need in the future as we purchased the machine in 1994.
nailed it right to the point step by step instructions have washer apart disconnected sensors cleared screens still a no go on the cold water filling up. stumped thanks again. all you guys showing these small but useful tips saved me bookoe money. hope someday I can return the favor in a fix it video. thanks again
My washing machine is fixed! Thank you so much for posting these detailed videos. You helped me diagnose and fix a broken lid switch (diff video) and obstructed water pressure tube.
Thanks Billy. Im from Sri Lanka. My washing machine was over filling and found no air coming from the small component connected to the main drum. I removed the air tube and blew it until the the bubbles come from the spinning drum as u said and now its working fine. Thanks once again for the valuable information. -Daminda W
Hello Bill. I appreciate and enjoy the valuable information that you share in your videos. Thank you!! I have a Kenmore Elite Washer, Model 796.315.12211 that is overfilling with water. It has a 6501EA1001R pressure switch. I followed the described testing procedure using a multi-meter, and the results were as follows; The two outside terminals read 20.9 ohms. The left and center terminals read OL. The center and right terminals read OL. Blowing into the hose doesn't change any of the readings. I hear a noise like the diaphragm moving inside the switches when I blow into the hose, but there is no distinct clicking noise like the clicking noise heard when testing the older type switches. I tested the pressure switch that was on the washer and two new pressure switches, and the readings remained the same whether applying pressure of not. I installed a new water valve, and the new pressure switch, and the washer continued to overfill. The pressure switch hose is clear, tight and unrestricted, and the bulb on the opposite end of the hose that is mounted on the washer is clear. There are no holes in the air hose. I can take the hose off the pressure switch and blow into the hose towards the washer, and there is no restriction. Is it possible that this switch works differently that the usual pressure switches, or do you suppose the new pressure switches were from a bad lot of switches? Do you have any advice? Thanks.

I salute you! Thank you for teaching how to test a water level pressure switch. Many people just tell to replace the switch to fix the error codes 0E and 1E.
Both the Water connector, and the pressure switch videos were very interesting and easy to understand. I will go now, and try to determine what is needed to stop this damn overflowing, and hoping to make it start working. Thanks so much.
Thanks! It turns out that the switch was good but I apparently pinched the air hose when I re-attached the back panel when I replaced the electric water valve awhile back. Without your video shown how to test it, I would have wasted money on a fill level switch that I didn't need.
Thank you so much Bill for the video it was very helpful, i manage to find the problem with my washing machine, it was my pressure hose which was out and i just plugged it back in now the water isn't overflowing thank you.
Thank you. I was just about it replace my inlet valve when found your video. My lg was giving a inlet error. I checked the solonids with a multimeter as described in other videos and they were all giving no signal. then watched your video and looked over at the pressure valve and spotted the pipe was completely popped off the unit. pushed back on and working fine with no errors. Still not sure why I got no reading from the solonids on the water inlet though. works fine now so I don't care lol
This was an excellent video, and I learned more in the 4:05 minute video than I did watching the last 1.5hrs of CRAP videos that just "guessed their way" to a conclusion. Damn shame that Robert William Newberry isn't here with us still, but I'm sure he's posting guard in one of the 4 corners of Heaven!!! Semper Fidelis, from an Army brother! Thank you f f for your comment below, letting us know that Bill isn't here to answer our comments. Thanks so much for posting this video. My pressure switch tested closed circuit when there was no pressure to it and it never changed. Thanks to the testing technique I was able to open the pressure switch and fix the contact where it was stuck in the closed position. It was tedious putting the switch back together the tiny spring popped out. My washer is working fine now! If you plan on buying a new switch give it a go. I do have basic knowledge of electronics.
Thanks man. I was getting a beep on the multimeter before and while blowing into the pressure switch, and wasn't hearing any click when i blew. Basically i huffed and i puffed and all of a sudden it clicked, and stop beeping. It was like somethiing was clogged. Now everything works! And i ALMOST bought a replacement valve. Thanks again.
Nicely done! Trying to "long distance" troubleshoot an over-fill issue with our daughter's used GE machine. A true instance of the Internet as a tool, not a toy. Many thanks!
Watching and learning!!!! Well done: I saw the water fill valve one and it said that OVERFILL could be caused by the fill valve (( like duhhh, I know, but it sadly did NOT occur to me. 😞 )) and now I'll check it too.
thanks man. i just tested mine after getting the code, and it confirmed it`s broken. I'll buy the cheapest universal replacement and see if that helps!
thanks' for all your videos Bill, those are helpful you are with God now, thanks for everything and blessings for for all your family. thanks, thanks thanks thanks,,,,
Excellent video! Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Our washer tub overflowed and saturated the kitchen and living room. We checked the pressure switch as you instructed and found the hose was clogged. My husband blew the debris out and now the washer functions perfectly 👍🏻. This video saved us a lot of money on a repair man-thanks again!
Mr Newberry, Thank you so much for your educational video. By watching such, I was able to resolve the issue with my Samsung 13KG Toploader, which was suddenly overfilling.

Clearest videos I've seen.I saw your other video too( water inlet valve). Is this broadly similar on an overfilling front loader? Also (on a front loader) if you unplug on fill and it continues to fill likely it is the pressure switch rather than inlet valve?
Hi Bill, thanks for your video's, they're very informative. I'm having a problem with the cold fill on my old Kenmore. I turn it on and I'm barely getting any cold water fill. I replaced the hot/cold solenoid / valves, but it's still doing the same thing. It fills with the hot water though with no problem. My question is, if the problem was the pressure switch, wouldn't it be happening with both the hot and the cold?
another possible issues is if there is a leak in the hose. If there is a crack in the hose, it is usually at the connections points. Either where it connects onto the switch, or where it connects on the tub.
thank you for this video bill …. mine had some kind of slime in the hose I cleaned it out and it worked …. too bad I did not check this before it flooded my back porch and my basemen …. ive been ripping up cork board all day …. some kind of sub-floor that was under the carpet that absorbs a lot of water... but anyway thank you !!!!!
This video was super helpful! I do have another question. My washer will only overfill when the temp is on eco warm, warm, or hot, but will not overfill on cold. Any ideas? I already replaced the water valves. I have a Samsung top load wa456 washer. Thanks in advance
Our GE washer would not go into spin cycle properly, and would refill the tub and wash the clothes again. We had a washer repairman over a few days ago, and he changed out the 'shock absorbers' that support the tub, but it did not help. Now he thinks it may be the pressure switch. After watching your video with your explanation, I think that was the problem all along. I'm sure it did not hurt to change the other parts out on a 6 year old washer, but who knows. :(

Thank you Mr. Bill you are the best teacher
Thank you so much Bill for the video it was very helpful, i manage to find the problem with my washing machine, it was
my pressure hose which was out and i just plugged it back in now the water isn't overflowing thank you.
I would have never known that this Brother has taken the walk before us...and WE ALL HAVE TO answer to our own "Orders Of Deployment."
Thanks a lot Bill Newberry. You've solved my washing machine problem with your excellent video.
Greetings from France.
Super sir , my support always for u, I am from India, god bless u sir
Really helped. Thanks for helping the average diy
Your video is super clear and easy to follow. Thanks.
Nicely done! Trying to "long distance" troubleshoot an over-fill issue with our daughter's used GE machine. A true instance of the Internet as a tool, not a toy. Many thanks!
You are great. Made my work so easy.....Keep helping people.
You do very clear instructions. Thanks so much.
thanks' for all your videos Bill, those are helpful you are with God now, thanks for everything and blessings for for all your family. thanks, thanks thanks thanks,,,,
thanks so much, especially I don't leave any comment, but this video is priceless
The best videos ❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thumbs up!
Mr Newberry, Thank you so much for your educational video. By watching such, I was able to resolve the issue with my Samsung 13KG Toploader, which was suddenly overfilling.
Thank you very much. You have helped me. May Allah guide you to all the bests.

Yup my tube was pinched!
Thank you so much
Thanks Bill for explaining this .
Thank you. Nicely explained.
Thanks for the video! I like that you have no problem touching hose with mouth!!!! Real practical man!
Nice tutorial it helps a lotright now i have same problem
Clearest videos I've seen.I saw your other video too( water inlet valve). Is this broadly similar on an overfilling front loader? Also (on a front loader) if you unplug on fill and it continues to fill likely it is the pressure switch rather than inlet valve?
Hi Bill, thanks for your video's, they're very informative. I'm having a problem with the cold fill on my old Kenmore. I turn it on and I'm barely getting any cold water fill. I replaced the hot/cold solenoid / valves, but it's still doing the same thing. It fills with the hot water though with no problem. My question is, if the problem was the pressure switch, wouldn't it be happening with both the hot and the cold?
very very well and clearly explained. well done.
another possible issues is if there is a leak in the hose. If there is a crack in the hose, it is usually at the connections points. Either where it connects onto the switch, or where it connects on the tub.
Thanks for a very explanatory video
First video l watched with zero dislikes after its been on TH-cam fo nearly 7yrs
Clear demonstration, thanks
Bill you're great technician. I like your videos, very helpful
Excellent tutorials! Thank you!
Good job, thanks for making it simple😅
Thank you so much for all your help.
You should creat a platform for where you help technician and charge a monthly fee because I would pay

Good and easy to understand video. Thank you.
Hi Bill....thanks!!!!...practical and informative.
Great video, thank you
Thank you same here tube was blocked. Thanks to make the video.
Great troubleshooting ideas
thank you for this video bill …. mine had some kind of slime in the hose I cleaned it out and it worked …. too bad I did not check this before it flooded my back porch and my basemen …. ive been ripping up cork board all day …. some kind of sub-floor that was under the carpet that absorbs a lot of water... but anyway thank you !!!!!
Hi thank you for this video in this moments is difficult everything and you give as the solution to our problem thank you.
