Over the years I "worked my way up" to Rolex...but I still can't stop admiring and collecting Seiko. I would rate them as the most influential watch company in history.
I know this is a 2-year old video, but I used this (among others) to help me decide on the MM300 as a purchase as well as the model I wanted. So thanks for your help! I decided on this green beauty that arrived yesterday, direct from Japan, and hasn’t left my wrist since.
The MM300 is forever an icon and loved by people who enjoy watches. I get a thrill when l wear this, but, not the Hulk even it cost many times more. What others say won't change my own experience.
Great video! I'm about to pull the trigger on the MM300 with the red dial (Seigaiha). But your description of this stunning watch is the reason why I will choose this one over it. It's not overpowering, looks black half of the time unless the light hits it. Less shouty, even though I love the red.
One thing I'll say about that "linen effect" date window - after wearing this watch for about 2 weeks, I've seen how that date will pick up even the dimmest light in a dark setting and make the metal date material shine like its being backlit. A very, very clever design.
I have Omega, Rolex and several other brands. Seiko has to be my favorite. Very tough watches and I admire the history. And let's face it, the Japanese are a very proud workforce with quality and honor in mind.
I have this watch and it’s more of a work of art, I have had more expensive watches but not sure I have experienced an overall cooler and distinctive piece.
This has become one of the best watch channels on TH-cam. Just amazingly detailed, but also done with personality and humor. The wife needs some on screen time, these 2 are funny together. As far as watch snobbery. I don’t care what people think about my watches. I love my Seikos, also love the other brands I own. I buy watches that speak to me, even own some Invictas that I love. But only a watch newbie who knows nothing about watches, would say something like that about Grand Seikos. One of my Grail watches is the Snowflake Grand Seiko. As far as the two straps, I prefer the one that comes with the MM200. Not a fan of the one with the ripples type strap.
Thanks for the kind words. And most likely was a newbie correct. but then again some long time Rolex fans might think the same and they might be long into collecting. But once Grand Seiko gets more hyped which is starting to happen they'll jump on the bandwagon.
I just acquired this very watch yesterday, and the serial number was a bonus, #000111. These videos do this watch no justice as it is an amazing timepiece to behold. A good bit of heft to it, but it does present smaller than the dimensions imply. Happy that I was able to score the SLA047J1, and place it in the rotation.
That is the best reasons to own a GS, people think you are buying a seiko and the enjoyment of you only knowing and them not knowing you have a GS! Its like owning a Credor to someone wearing some IWC...etc
Speaking as a diver, the round tip on the mm300 silicone strap serves a purpose: designed to keep the strap loop intact when you are adjusting strap length at depth, such that you don’t accidentally drop your watch only to see it sink beyond recovery.
I have the MM300 SLA035j1 - It's the black DLC coated - only 600 made. LOVE it... stealthy and awesome! Just picked up new a MM300 SLA021J1 - 2023 model. Newer ones do not have the frame around the date window and have the little blip of lume just to the right of the date window. I love the watch but getting a strapcode replacement strap. I love the silicone straps as well. They don't pick up a lot of fuzz. I wish the SLA021 had a red second hand and red 300MM text. I want to know if there's some history of the gold hand and 300mm logo?
Managed to pick one up yesterday, brand new, in Canada. 000014 of 003000. Enjoying it so far. Green was not on my radar but it's such a dark, rich green. Connects well with the foggy rainforests on Vancouvers North Shore where I live. Correct on one of your comments, I did notice a bit of light lume blotching on the ceramic insert at the 0/60 mark. Beautiful piece otherwise. Great video. It helped with my purchase.
Picked one up Yesterday #000750 of #003000. Mine has some weird blotching too on the 60 sec mark. Is that supposed to be there? Beautiful watch regardless!
I had this watch in my hands this week....the dial , and the way the thick sapphire glass interact is AMAZING. Thanks for your reviews. I really enjoy your details - you talk about details that trigger my interest.
Hello Mister, DAS IST EINE FAAAANTASTISCHE KULT Uhr!!! Amazing !!!!! Great !!!!!! And GREAT VIDEO Mister !!✌️✌️✌️✌️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Hab mir gerade heute eine Nagelneue bestellt und kann kaum abwarten, sie zu bekommen 🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I ordered this watch today. Had a Rolex Sea Dweller purchasd 1980 $1k, daily user, sold Sotheby’s 2005 hammer price $10k.You will never lose $$ on a Rolex. Having said all that, this Seiko is much better than Rolex. Rolex figured out years ago how to manufacture movements that were both very accurate and cheap to manufacture simultaneously. On so many levels- the movement especially- this watch is far superior in quality to Rolex.
This is the ‘go-to’ channel for Seiko reviews and light-hearted, yet informative, entertainment - Thank you! Now, a special request for which you are perfectly suited to fulfill in light of your vast Seiko experience - Comparison between the MM300 and Sinn U1, please! Both watches are large divers in a similar price category. Be well.
Thanks for Watching and input! Sinn is tough for me to get on the channel as my sponsor is not an AD I would have to buy it myself so chances are low I can compare them sorry!
After watching this video, I went to my local Seiko AD to try the sla023. I really like the look of it and the domed sapphire that is curved inside the watch and gives a very nice in-water distortion. But it was way too thick. I don’t think I will wear it very often. Seiko needs to keep the look the same but slim it a bit, otherwise it will just be a showcase piece for most of us!
Once again great review! Owning both the MM42 and SLA021 MM300 I love them both. The MM42 is more of a daily wear and more balanced but the MM300 is on another level. Attention to detail and the depth of the dial with that thick sapphire is amazing. Just can’t make peace with the MM300 bracelet. I wish they went with the LX design with the Marinemasters as well. Regarding the new date/lume pip thing. I’m not a fan. Prefer the printed date frame on my SLA021. It’s a cleaner look. Cheers!
I have the SLA019 and love the olive green dial and insert. I can’t stand the stock bracelet so bought a strapcode jubilee and it makes the watch wear so much better!
Sadly true. Wear I live everyone who wants others to know they have money just buys a Rolex Submariner. Zero originality and at 20K its 4-5 times the cost of a simular quality peice from other brands with less cache. If I see someone with a Seiko LX, MM300 etc I know they are actually into watches and care about value for money not just status.
What’s wrong with limited? IOW does every new watch need to be an unlimited model and why care? If you like the watch then buy it. If you don’t, then don’t.

Because with your videos I had perfect comparisons to the Sbdx001. Take care mate and see you 👋🍻
I've had the MM200 and it's no different than a standard Turtle. Mine came with a loose movement and wasn't very accurate. I returned it and purchased the MM300. What a difference!! You can't compare the two. MM300 blows the 200 away. Accuracy, feel, looks, overall ownership. And the green is almost a black. You need the right light to see green.

these are going for super cheap now. Guess this LE wasn't that popular.... selling now on the second hand market for way less than the blue or black dial ones.
Always great content 'Falling Titan'. I bought the blue one back in January. Don't wear often, I just prefer the thickness and weight of the MM200(old version). As much as I do enjoy my MM300 it really makes me appreciate the asthetics of my Gmt ll ceramic. I live in a tropical climate, sounds great but a heavy piece on a sweating wrist, hmm well not a lot of fun😉
I wish I can wear this beast but its too big for my wrist. I have the green willard and fits amazing. Such a nice fit! I also have the mm200 island green and I have to say it fits well but not as good as the willard does. I personally find the green dial fantastic because it needs light to really to make it seem green!
What did you say? Dust? In a $3200 watch, did I hear you correctly? Man I really liked this watch, but if quality control is that Low that you get dust inside the watch, the would have to remove it from my wish list. Wait just joking love this watch and will definitely one day own one.
I hate the pip at 3. What I hate more is the lack of the date window framing. I haven't read the iso requirements, but I wonder if they could lume the date wheel and drop the pip.
I really want the solar chronograph that was released along with this one. I just bought the ice blue ice diver and I'm in LOVE. Definitely pushed my love for Seiko higher.
You refer to this as a mass produced watch. I beg to differ. The 8L35 movement is hand assembled by (1) master watchmaker in the Grand Seiko studio. The entire movement is heavily rhodium plated for longevity. The true mass produced watch is Rolex, mostly robotically manufactured, right down to the finishing.
Oh man, the most recent one for me was that I was at the Rolex boutique saying hi to some of the people I know and this guy walks in asking for the Daytonas in the back. I quickly told the manager to go ahead and bring out the platinum models and I could see the guy’s face get upset a bit. Later on in the conversation it was apparent this d-bag had no idea about watches since he didn’t even know what a “three hander” watch is. I was laughing and btw he was wearing a platinum datejust which was not impressive. I was wearing a GS SBGA413 of course. Also stopped by the Seiko AD yesterday and they showed me a video from Seiko about all the models coming out this year and man! Some really nice Willards and MM300s coming out, even a red dial version. Will be a good year!
@@EscapementWatch Nice! The blue or black one? I saw from the presentation they showed me yesterday that there will be a grey dial with pattern and also a green dial I believe? These were the regular models with the 6R35. We shall see!
The douche story is the reason I like it. I'm the only one who knows what I'm really wearing, they're so under the radar. Same goes with some collector's G-Shocks.

Hahah makes sense! Thanks for sharing
I wish I can wear this beast but its too big for my wrist. I have the green willard and fits amazing. Such a nice fit! I also have the mm200 island green and I have to say it fits well but not as good as the willard does. I personally find the green dial fantastic because it needs light to really to make it seem green!
I totally agree!
Yeah wish my wrist would also bigger 😭
Damn its beautiful
whenever i hear this intro music i think of watches.
The perfect Seiko
Love that watch :D
What did you say? Dust? In a $3200 watch, did I hear you correctly? Man I really liked this watch, but if quality control is that Low that you get dust inside the watch, the would have to remove it from my wish list. Wait just joking love this watch and will definitely one day own one.
I've had dust in Tudor, Grand Seiko and Rolex! But oddly enough I just bought SPB 207...no dust! 🤷🏻♂️
We can't get titanium for that kind of loot?😭
Btw,these high quality bezels, are just fidget spinners for adults!
Oh yeah! But the 8L is worth the cost.
Good choice! I will review that one soon!
Not a fan of the accordion style straps, comfy but too bulky
The date visibility is really bad.
Yeah it's that material they use on the high-end movements I don't know what it is but it's more legible in person than on camera
Quando costa l'orologio
Love Seiko as always but USD3000+ watch not regulated... come on.
yes big nono!
Hot watch…..🎉
I love the OG mm300. If I could get a new old stock I would get one
i love this watch, but I find it top-heavy!
agreed!
This review is making me reach for my wallet.
Will be a good year!
def going to be a good year. I have the new Uemura on order.
@@EscapementWatch Nice! The blue or black one? I saw from the presentation they showed me yesterday that there will be a grey dial with pattern and also a green dial I believe? These were the regular models with the 6R35. We shall see!
blue

The douche story is the reason I like it. I'm the only one who knows what I'm really wearing, they're so under the radar. Same goes with some collector's G-Shocks.
I prefer the framed date window without the lume lump. It looks like a defect in my opinion. Almost like it's broken.
HERP A DERP!
Good video. Btw Do content makers know that EVERYONE fast forwards past the fancy intros and the preface chat? No? Well they do.
Whoever put together number 16 is in for a bollocking because of dust on the dial
