MM300 is my first luxury purchase. It can go Toe to Toe with the Rolex Submariners of the world.
Love my SBDX017, definitely a keeper.

I love my mm300 but i'am afraid it's not as good as a Tudor BB let alone a Rolex sub, the following facts (not) opinions are a braclet that's nice enough but could easily belong to a far cheaper model, then the end link movement left to right between the case (sloppy tolerances) the second hand is not finished to the same standard as the minute & hour hands and looks identical to a seiko sumo hand, then the crown thread far to fine which makes one worrie when retreading as not to trip the thread and if this wasn't bad enough the movement is not even regulated all these issues are not present on the BB albeit for a slight increase in value.

    • @dennischen8887
      @dennischen8887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Sorry, but the MM does not hold a candle against a Submariner. They're still on a pin and collar system and too many imperfections on hands and dial text. $1000 might be okay but not at $3000.

    • @Leturane
      @Leturane 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

MM300 are awesome watch to have and for the price? It is punch way above their weight. Now to compare with the Rolex I will said that the MM300 probably can out watch older non glide lock Submariner, not the modern one. But then again for the same price nothing really can beat it.

Dennis Chen well...It does have better lume than the rolex...and a much cooler design..Plus, it is more of a “proper” diving watch, having drilled lug holes, better visibility (Sapphire AR coating), and will not have helium issues with deep diving due to the unique monocoque case design (unlike the rolex submariner).....

@@willstephesnon650 I totally agree. I'd like to see it too. Just saying it's a funny subject. Another thing I found about accuracy, when I first got into watches (long ling time ago now) accuracy was really important to me, the older and more familiar with watches I got the less important it became. Still nice to have a really accurate watch though. Just had my old SKX serviced and it came back within 2 seconds a day, and I have to say it made me really happy to know that. Thing is though the watch being reviewed is not going to be the same as the watch you buy, but I'd still like to see it.

Amazing watches, I have seen the green i liked it but i preferred the black for me, I have the black. Not seen the blue as yet. Just fantastic, I love mine its accurate to about plus 2-3 seconds a day untouched. Had it for about 6 months, bomb proof! But also beautiful and if anyone on fence regarding getting one dont be. Yes not cheap at all, far from it.... and yes some would say "a lot for a seiko" but you need to see and hold in hand to judge, as pics and video do not do them justice at all. I got this instead of a Tudor black bay and I looked REALLY in depth at both, you buy a watch for yourself and not for show for other people. No regrets at all.

Most expensive Seiko diver is a JDM SPDC 053 cost me $690 with shipping. Didn't opt for the bracelet, and not because of the money, usually change their metal anyway. Also around the time got the JDM SPDC 069 whicch I switched out to a strapcode. Came on a black silicon rubber Seiko diver strap. Fit's like a glove. Have no intention of changing it. Marc I usually buy from you but wanted JDM, next time I will call or email your office. Those watches you shown are beautiful a tad expensive, If I was to plunk that much down would opt of a Grand Seiko Snow Flake. Only have to pre owned luxury watches, an Omega 300m current mode, must have been a quick turn over because the warranty card issued by the same AD was 7 weeks old. Saved over $1000, love it. The second was a Longines Big Eye, a bit older, watch looks new with some but not a lot of use on the band. Very happy with it. Over the next year or two want to get a Speedmaster, doesn't have to be perfect but don't want vintage either. And the Grand Seiko spring drive snow flake.
BTW the Grand Zeppelin LZ129 scratched my itch for a Baushaus type watch, actually looks better up front and in use then photo's Did want a Nomos and maybe someday. And the Segull 1963 flight watch. Bought a few OrentUSA Mako II's one for myself in white and a few others in black for gifts to people who have helped this past year and one for my daughter to give to her boyfriend for the Holidays. The did seem to sell out quickly, and feel comfortable knowing I got them from you and are warrantied if something goes amiss.

I own a Rolex Submariner, an Omega Seamaster, assorted other top marque... but also own the Marine Master 200 as general wear watch. I looked at one of these (the 300) in the Seiko boutique in London. OK, they are not cheap as such but re-sale value and cost aside, this watch is of absolutely superb quality. If you just don't want to, or can't kick up to the top end...but want a diver o serious quality, you could do a whole lot worse than one of these. They really are top, top notch and are, I reckon, worth every penny. Marc's good spiel aside, seeing them in two dimensions just does not do the watch justice.

I have the new SLA047 version with black ceramic bezel and green dial. Absolutely stunning watch, though I am disappointed in the accuracy as mine gets right at the outer limit of specs at +15 seconds per day after two weeks of wear. Hopefully it settles more (was originally +23 seconds), as Seiko won’t warranty it if within listed specs.

Beautiful watch. A little too thick in my opinion and liking. I think the end of the "chunky" watch craze days are within sight. I for one am not disappointed in that probability. That dial is almost too busy. Less is more......… Just my $.02

Thank you for the review. A couple of thoughts, apart from servicing difficulties, I still see a bracelet with pins and not screws. Further more a very thin bracelet, a 42 mm diver's watch from many makers has an average of 30 per cent thicker bracelet. If not mistaken, on this nearly 44 mm Marinemaster, the bracelet isn't more than 3 mm thick. Several makers offer diver's watches with Seiko movements and the whole presentation is a solid instrument watch. Prices wise are far cheaper than a MM. For that price range, of the MM, I would really like to see a better quality bracelet, in both appearance and feeling.

Love the Seiko but honestly, I'd save my money and buy an Islander watch that looks just as good. I was about to pull the trigger on one of your black skx013 alternatives for my smaller wrist (beautiful watch) and the same week I was layed off by my job in the UK during the pandemic 🤬 Don't worry though buddy, your watch will be the first money I spend for non-essentials when this is over. I hope that your business is not affected too badly due to mostly being online sales. Hold on and see you all on the other side! 😁

    So i bought this watch.
Have it for almost a week now on a Strapcode Angus Jubilee.
I watched almost every review and i thought a long time about buying it.
I wanted a watch in the mid-price range that is bulled proof reliable and of good quality.
To be honest, a rolex is out of my salary range.
I also didn't want a watch made of titanium, because i like the weight.
So far, i like the watch.
But i was surprised how small it really is. It looked way bigger in the videos.
It runs with plus 3 seconds a day.
The polishing is superb, the lume is awesome, so it the crown and bezel action.
And i like the weight. It always reminds me it's there.
But i also have issues with it.
    I want to ask Seiko:
For a list price of more than 3000 Euro, why don't you adjust and regulate the movement?
Why don't you include a bracelet with screwed links?
Why is the bezel not sealed? The lume triangle is bare paint exposed and will easily scratch or get dirty.
And why do you put the lume only up to the 20 mark?
Is that your way to tell the customer if he wants a full lumed bezel he has to pay 6000 Euro for a Grand Seiko?
I got the watch for 2400 Euro with a lot of cashback. And in my opinion, it is not worth more than 2400 Euro because of these issues.
But i'm going to keep the watch.
Maybe you guys here know if i can buy a spare bezel from another Seiko watch that will fit this model. A ceramic bezel with lumibrite but without exposed paint.
Thank you for the nice review and your effort in producing it.
    Greetings from Germany.
    André

It’s just WEIRD that the bezel isn’t completely loomed at that price. Why nickel and dime on a $3000 watch?
It makes the watch seem oddly unfinished. How expensive is lume? It can’t be the labour, because luming a whole insert takes really no more time and tool up than half an insert.

    • @john1959ism

Rolex doesn't LUME (correct spelling) the bezel on their Submarines. Wouldn't consider that finish cheap at all.

For great macros on the finishing check out Horology House, great content. As far as the Marine Master, way to big for my baby wrists (same size as Marc hahah), also a lot for seiko branded watch but then again the GS diver is triple the price at retail (not that I would suggest paying that much).
