I'm not a huge Seiko fan but I do own a Marinemaster. This watch looks great and honestly if it said Breitling on the dial theyd be asking $3k for it easily. It's a great looking watch and has a 70 hour power reserve. If they gave a little tighter regulation with these movements theyd be an absolute steal.
I just got mine from gnomon a few days ago. I think it’s astounding for the money; accurate to a few seconds a day, brilliant finishing and well under £1,000. Feels like an Omega Seamaster but cooler and much cheaper.
I just picked the 213 after putting the deposit down 2 weeks ago and I love everything about it. Looking at it straight on and then in sunlight and watching the countless ways the light plays with the dial and bezel is such a joy to experience. I don't think I'll ever stop loving this watch. I'll probably be getting a grey canvas or leather strap after a while of enjoying it on the stock bracelet which is very comfortable.
If only the Bezel would have been the same brush style as the 149. Ugh! I'm not much of a fan of the shiny bezel. Otherwise, the watch is still a beauty and I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger. You have turned me into a Seiko maniac! Thanks for another great review!
I had a pretty hard time deciding between spb213 and spb143. In the end i went with the gray dial. It is more my type of color. 😊 thanks for the review. I love the "63 mas" 🥰
The date window on this watch is perfect and discreet, one of many reason I bought a Seiko SPB 213 . Well done Seiko. Very beautiful watch. As long as I wear it, it is actually quite accurate compared to the radio-controlled watch and far better than the spec Seiko states.

I tried this on yesterday, you barely notice the 3 o’clock lume plot on the wrist. In the metal it’s a stunning piece, but actually kind of eccentric, it looks great but a bit.... different :)

I've never been one for perfect symmetry.. what about the evil eye? One thing I really don't like is four o'clock dates, though, unless the watch is insanely tooly. Of course either you like 'em or you don't, so debate isn't really the right word since it's just a personal preference. Perhaps it's worth giving perspective for those who don't understand us date-fans -- if I don't have the date on my watch it can legitimately disrupt my workflow and mess up my day. On a tight schedule it could mean the difference between missing my tram or not if I have to extra go double-check the date on some other calendar. "But it's on your phone--" --so is the time. I am much more likely to be wearing my watch than carrying my phone, some people want to use their phones as little as possible. I also used to think I would prefer no-dates, but now that I have no-dates, I realize I may never buy any no-date again..
The date on a mechanical watch is really unnecessary. Why would anyone, who needs time and date depend on a watch, that’s not nearly as reliable as anything else? Plus if you have several mechanical watches, it’s just bothersome setting it every time. There are definitely too many watches with date windows.
I have this on pre order. I was concerned after seeing pictures that there wouldn't be enough contrast between the white dial and the hands and hour markers. But after watching the video that doesn't seem to be an issue. Wish they had put a bit more of a matt finish on the bezel, and the second hand and marks just inside the chapter ring are a different shade of blue, which to me seems a bit off. I like it, but not blown away.
White box no extra strap and the diver extension digs into my wrist! I ended up ordering a SPB 149 strap to replace the bracelet. Besides that I love this watch.
The blue bezel insert is darker than the stock photos. That’s a good thing to me. I’d like to see this bezel insert on the 149...wonder if those blues would look good together
Great video! I like the case, the bezel, the face and as a complete watch it looks pretty good. The bracelet ticks the boxes having an extension and more than a couple of micro adjust points. That offset lume pit would not bother me that much on the lighter dial as the symmetry has already taken a hit by the date window at 3. The date with an offset lume pip would work much better at the 6 position IMHO. I like that the hands are half brushed but I can't help feel that the missed a trick by having them the same colour as the bezel as you pointed out, I would even say the same for the hour marker surrounds. I guess it would then possibly looks just a tad similar to the Omega SM300M Great White at a distance but at a much lower cost which is no bad thing I guess. I doubt it would steal any sales from Omega though as it's a totally different market.
I got the SPB145J1 2 weeks ago and damn now I really like this for the modern look! Didn't noticed that 3pm Lume misalignment until you've mentioned it.

It’s nice, but $1,200 USD nice? It’s a warmed over version of existing products. “...but not bad” is pretty damning for a watch at this price point and talking about replacing the clasp only amplifies the point.

I had a spb143 that was running -19 dial up and about -30 in the other positions. Sent it back and am kinda turned off by Seiko right now. I'll regulate a $500 Seiko but I draw the line at $1k. It better come to me running well for that price.
@@retardinho5048 Yes. the movement had very good amplitude and likely just needed to be regulated. I didnt want to deal with waiting for the service center to correct it.
@@jaredhill1021 I was asking because usually the 6R movements tend to regulate „themselves“ after a while. My green Sumo started at -17 and after wearing it for 2 weeks it was around +2 to 3.
@@retardinho5048 Seiko movements like to be worn. They will have big daily differences and often improve as with yours. I've seen enough of them to know that this specific watch needed to be regulated and I wasnt going to do it myself. I have a few other 6R Seikos and have regulated them myself but they were half the cost of the SPB143.
Love this watch! If I didn't already have my white orient mako 2 usa with upgraded coin edge bezel and batman style insert I would definitely pull the trigger on this... unless, maybe there's room for both in my collection?
Recently got the JDM Baby MM reduced with silver dial and the black Capt. Willard, JDM similar watches and love them. And probably similar watches outside of color, but same movement and bracelet, never cared for Seiko their bracelets but these are good. Maybe in the future? Oh I subscribed. I usually buy JDM. ANd hasn''t shown up on my usual dealer doesn't have the 63 yet.

Great review and great watch with beautiful dial and hands. It's unbelievable that for $1.200 Seiko cannot align the bezel. Great lume yeah, but the missalignement of the dot is even more noticable. Also no signed crown... Movement is not the best with 12.600 BPM. Had some issues with that. Why not a 4 Hz and more accurate movement? Still a beautiful watch, but there is a lot of competition for the price...

Im in between this and the SPB 147. Hearing you have both - which do you wear more often? Fear w the white face is I wont wear it as often compared to the brown.
Personally... I don’t love it... I’m a big fan of the 62MAS reinterpretations and own the 101/143 but don’t love this... similar to how I love the seamaster 300m and don’t love the Tokyo edition. Something about this colorway doesn’t sit well with me.
some of the macros had outside lighting on to give different light perspectives. Doing wrist shot outside is a bit tough for me especially on watches I have to rush like this one since all sold out before they even arrived.
The white look nice but the price is just ridiculous, i have a SBDC051 which is almost identical except maybe for the 6R15. And it cost less than half of this piece, not really worth the price unless you can get it on a discount and you really like the design/color. And i dont think this is a real limited edition without the limited edition number at the case back.
I ended up selling my 62mas. the ceramic insert and the way it sat on my wrist started to bug me too much and I miss the way the 63mas sat on wrist. So here I am watching my own video again to see if I should get this now or the 239 to hold me over till 2022....By then I'm hoping for a save the ocean 63mas or pepsi next year. I will miss the superior marine grade exotic material ever-brilliant steel and the hand assembled beast of a moment of the 8L. But sitting on the wrist is more important to me. Ok now on to my spb239 video.....
I got the gray one last year from gnomon. Beautiful looking piece. But movement is garbage. Ran decently for a while. Then went terribly slow eventually losing 30 seconds a day. Got it regulated by watch guy. Ran great for a week or so then went haywire again now running plus 60 seconds a day. I’ve given up. Removed the Willard and new mm200 from my wish list. Now I’m stuck with a watch I can’t even sell on in good conscience wouldn’t feel right passing on to anyone else. That’s it for seikos around here......
that is a shame! I got a 7 year old sumo running spot on from a customer of mine to do a crystal swap. ended up doing a movement swap 4R for 50 bucks instead of a service. I'd go that route if I were you or sell it as is "for parts" it will sell.
Got a huge Seiko shipment today its a mess but I think the 5kx is next because I believe the units are sold as well and owners want them asap. So I'll probably rush that one out tomorrow.

The brushed steel bezel on the standard models is so nice it’s a shame to gloss over it.
I like the more subtle looks as well. My fav i think is the new 239!

We ABSOLUTELY need the date.In fact, it's a deal-breaker for me now, and the reason I sold my BB58.

The 42mm longines spirit 3 o clock date and no 3 marker is even more unsettling. No date the best for these classics

Wished they used the same desaturated lume on the seiko green Sumo, would have made this watch a lot better.
Argh! Kinda bummed out that I didn't grab it at the airport in Schiphol, Amsterdam. I'm torn between this and the Christopher Ward C63 GMT.
I might get the c63 gmt hands on CW promised to send so stay tuned.
Great review and great watch with beautiful dial and hands. It's unbelievable that for $1.200 Seiko cannot align the bezel. Great lume yeah, but the missalignement of the dot is even more noticable. Also no signed crown... Movement is not the best with 12.600 BPM. Had some issues with that. Why not a 4 Hz and more accurate movement? Still a beautiful watch, but there is a lot of competition for the price...

It comes with a regular Seiko white box, pretty underwhelming for a 140th anniversary isn't it? Nevertheless, it's not about the box anyway! Bought the watch after watching your review.

Personally... I don’t love it... I’m a big fan of the 62MAS reinterpretations and own the 101/143 but don’t love this... similar to how I love the seamaster 300m and don’t love the Tokyo edition. Something about this colorway doesn’t sit well with me.
It only lacks the edges of the blue hands to make it perfect.

some of the macros had outside lighting on to give different light perspectives. Doing wrist shot outside is a bit tough for me especially on watches I have to rush like this one since all sold out before they even arrived.
The white look nice but the price is just ridiculous, i have a SBDC051 which is almost identical except maybe for the 6R15. And it cost less than half of this piece, not really worth the price unless you can get it on a discount and you really like the design/color. And i dont think this is a real limited edition without the limited edition number at the case back.
For me it does worth the price
A £ 150.000 richard miller or a £50.000 hublot are not worth the price if you ask me.
The 62 and 63 are the perfect companions FT!
I ended up selling my 62mas. the ceramic insert and the way it sat on my wrist started to bug me too much and I miss the way the 63mas sat on wrist. So here I am watching my own video again to see if I should get this now or the 239 to hold me over till 2022....By then I'm hoping for a save the ocean 63mas or pepsi next year. I will miss the superior marine grade exotic material ever-brilliant steel and the hand assembled beast of a moment of the 8L. But sitting on the wrist is more important to me. Ok now on to my spb239 video.....

I got the gray one last year from gnomon. Beautiful looking piece. But movement is garbage. Ran decently for a while. Then went terribly slow eventually losing 30 seconds a day. Got it regulated by watch guy. Ran great for a week or so then went haywire again now running plus 60 seconds a day. I’ve given up. Removed the Willard and new mm200 from my wish list. Now I’m stuck with a watch I can’t even sell on in good conscience wouldn’t feel right passing on to anyone else. That’s it for seikos around here......
that is a shame! I got a 7 year old sumo running spot on from a customer of mine to do a crystal swap. ended up doing a movement swap 4R for 50 bucks instead of a service. I'd go that route if I were you or sell it as is "for parts" it will sell.

Got a huge Seiko shipment today its a mess but I think the 5kx is next because I believe the units are sold as well and owners want them asap. So I'll probably rush that one out tomorrow.
