EUR 3000! Why does the clasp have adjustment holes? For this price, I will pass. Some people thought that the new Christopher Ward Trident 300 titanium was expensive!
Bro you can’t compare a traditional brand to an online only brand. With Seiko you get to go to an AD and try as many models as you want and see them and hold them in the metal before making a buying decision. I don’t know about you, but this matters to me. I am not buying off photos only. Anyways we all know that seiko watches get discounted at some point.
I rather spend my money on the actual product and warranty instead of paying the cost/profit of a middle man! Although nothing wrong with buying from an AD if you have one near by, but most if not all online brands have a good return policy! CW in particular has 60/60 policy, 60 days return and 60 months warranty. You will never get that on a Seiko whether from an AD or direct from Seiko. Btw, I have 4 Seiko's and I am not hating on them. Just pointing out their lack of innovation on the clasp and bracelet level. They are pushing the price of their entry models way up almost near the price of a Tudor.
@@ae-ca602CW quality is really not there. I have 2 of them and you can compare their watches to the quality of Tissot or Baltic. This Seiko use one of the highest standard movement from the brand not to mention the case finishing. They also have experience from making dive watches for decades. But if the micro adjustment is that important to you I suggest you to look for something else 😂
@@thachnguyen5836for me when a watch is priced @ EUR 3000, it must check many boxes. No excuse for the brand to not include top quality and design on all aspects of the watch especially at the price they are asking. The clasp is functional but this type of clasp used to be ok 3 or 4 years ago. Even inexpensive homage brands are including on the fly adjustment clasp in their watches. The accuracy tolerance on a Seiko movements is too wide. For me the clasp and the bracelet are very important part of the watch and if they aren't top quality and they feel like an after thought, I would definitely go with the better option for me. On the CW quality, I don't know what CW models you own but my experience with CW and the 2 watches that I have from this brands I rank them at the same level as my Omega's when it comes to the finish and quality. Movement wise, I have both the Selitta 200 and 300 both are COSC and far more accurate the the Seiko's. Not at the quality of the Omega movement by will take the Selitta any day over the Seiko basic low beat large tolerance movement.
CW is overrated, watches look nice on renders but quite basic in the flesh if you’ve handled high end watches. The new trident titanium with the ETA2892 clone is very nice looking but they don’t hold a candle to Seiko 8L / 6L models. Also buying an off the shelf bracelet made in China with Chinese patents is something Seiko just can’t do being a vertically integrated manufacturer unlike most Swiss brands. However you can buy a Chinese bracelet / clasp and put it on your Seiko if it really makes you happy
Black dial is pretty. I'd wear. Bracelet is a step up with the highly polished touches. I'm wearing an identical bracelet on a Samsung Classic and I love it.
I think it's very difficult to make assumptions like that without having had the watch in hand. In the same way knowing how it feels and fits on wrist without trying it on is guess work.
I have an SLA055 which is similar but the case is Everbrilliant steel. I really am a fan of the SLA055 and enjoy it as much as my existing 300M Marinemasters.
Hopefully people will stop complaining now about the 39mm 62MAS even though that watch to me is great, but this is a legit Marinemaster in form factor and at 300m like a MM should be instead of 200m. The case size is a proper size for a MM at 42.6mm even though I feel it’s .6mm too big. It’s pretty much perfect. It also keeps all the trolls happy with the non exhibition back like the 39mm, and the bracelet looks like it’s the same as the 39mm which is extremely nice.
People have nothing better to do then complain 😂 even though there is more choice then ever before at every price point from more watch brands then I think there was even before the quartz crisis. It’s often the people that complain that don’t own any high end watches or just getting into the hobby and think by understanding a spec sheet they are a ‘watch expert’
Looks great, the MarineMaster case is probably the nicest Seiko case design. Would love to pickup one of these in a year when they’re 30% cheaper. I don’t really care if it doesn’t have an adjustable clasp, but it’s a nice plus if they include that in the future. Seiko produces such high volume, so it will take them more time to re-tool the production line and introduce that feature

White Lume and bigger lug width would have been an actual up to date version. I assume its 20mm, and has sapphire crystal at that price. What's the bezel insert material? Please lord not aluminium! The crown and date positions look a bit awkward in relation to each other IMO.
These could have been the Omega Seamaster SMP killer for those who don't want an HEV wart. Close, oh so close. But, why no white lume and, why oh why, didn't they put a proper micro-adjust on the clasp.

Dust in the eyes of the bored watch lovers… P.S.: Chris, I like many of your reviews, your presentation style and the fact that you are the first youtuber that presents almost any new piece released. Congratulations! 👍
Listen, Im a huge Seiko guy.... BUT, I just can't justify the price point for a Samurai-ish (kinda...) watch with a failed QC Grand Seiko 8L35 movement that's +/- 15 seconds a day. Just buy a Samurai, put a better bracelet on it, heck, even get it regulated and call it a day for 4x less money. For 3k Im buying a Seamaster or a Black Bay before this marinemaster 🤷🏼♂️
Who in their right mind is buying a Seiko for more than $500? Seiko is not luxury, it’s supposed to be fun, not expensive. Maybe I could see myself buying a cool vintage Seiko for $1000 but for a new Seiko at almost 3K? No chance
I love my middle range Seiko but at that price point Seiko has no idea how to make standard luxury watches like side crown misaligned bezel and bracelet I rather buy Swiss brand like longines for that price
Sorry but that's tudor, oris and longiness territory, and touching Omega....when you're paying this much, brand name matters. I don't care what materials or manufacturing or polishing proccess are used. If I'm payng this much, i want the exclusivity and luxury of a brand name, despite the aforementioned brands not being luxury, technically speaking.
NO Seiko ever brilliant steel though on this new release which is another disappointment. I think they should make this ever brilliant steel as standard materials on their high end SLA series.
I love the look of this but I'd have to see the dial in person. But damn for a 42mm watch I need to have OTF clasp. Dealbreaker. I definitely won't pull the trigger on this as much as I'd love to, as I know that if I do, within 12 months they'll have updated clasps and then I'll feel bummed.
If Seiko is going to fit a date, and it has to be at 4.30, why oh why oh why does it have to be on the tilt??? 🤬 Too tight to fit the correct date wheel, or have an on-the-fly micro-adjust clasp (that $200 aliexpress watches have) on a $2900 watch!!! 🙄. It’s just about the money now Seiko, isn’t it?!
This is from my perspective, I think the tilted day window at 4:30 looks more organic and natural too me. Like it blended in with the indices and bezel better. Upright, it look even more shoehorned in and is just an eyesore for me. And it's not like seiko is the only one who does this, the $18k Blancpain Fifty Fathom also uses this day window format.
Is it me or does every Seiko dial look the same? Other than changing the movement and the materials it's the same watch as their cheaper ones. No difference is accuracy. And yes I know you don't buy an automatic for accuracy. But +15/-10 seconds a day is just horrible. Not to mention it's 42mm in diameter. A 39mm or 40mm would have grabbed more of the market. Seiko stays in the past on their watches. No innovation just copy and repeat. I own many Seiko's, but can't justify this buy on the new SLA Marinemaster.

3000 euros. Hard pass. Pin and collar on a 3k watch? nope, not in 2024. No ceramic bezel, 8L35 movement wont be regulated like a GS one in 5 positions which sucks big time.. clasp is atrocious and its stamped not milled. Even microbrands started to improve their clasp and bracelet and for less than 500 euros. Ive seen a lot of microbrands that have very good bracelets and clasp design system which are far better than many big names in the watch industry and Im not a fan of microbrands. Look at the new update Sinn milled clasp with the new glide system, its pure trash. After all that many years if thats what they can come up with its pretty tragic, not to mention they are a german brand and germans are known for their engineering.
To be honest this model is a downgrade compared to the previous one (SLA021J1). No ceramic bezel ... Come on... Also, the 8L35 is an old movement and to be honest today its performance are inferior to a Powermatic 80 ... People must stop to mention "Grand Seiko" indefinitely. It's an old movement, almost 30 years old... Today it is hardly considerable "high end". Mechanical movements, in the mean time, have evolved a lot, while Seiko is still selling the 8L35 which has ridicolous specs for the price point (-10 sec / + 15 sec).

Omega can sleep in peace. This Seiko is far from being a serious competitor.
Chris you are so wrong, 6L caliber is even better than 8L from Marine master, for god sake it's used by Credor, in fact 6L is so good that even Swiss have licence to produce 6L in Soprod calibers.
Nice!
👍👍👍 Nice Watch and Elegant Watch introduce by Watch Expert - Watch Chris 👍👍👍
Good specs - too costly , Perfect look - not Unique , it’s just another Watch and overpriced
Why don’t they sign the crown?
There are nice, but getting into Tudor money.
I was thinking the exact same
For me, it’s just a “Sea Urchin” (SNZF17K1) on steroids… reinterpretation, reiteration, re…calculation… and “marinemaster” title it’s given only because of the 300m wr. It’s far away from SLA021, in my opinion. Dust in the eyes of the bored watch lovers…
P.S.: Chris, I like many of your reviews, your presentation style and the fact that you are the first youtuber that presents almost any new piece released. Congratulations! 👍
So basically this is the price they could actually charge for a Grand Seiko.
Pass. This watch is Longinesque
Nice.
Good on you, no one cares. Buy your Samurai and stop moaning 😂
Seiko has lost its mind... good look with this
Who in their right mind is buying a Seiko for more than $500? Seiko is not luxury, it’s supposed to be fun, not expensive. Maybe I could see myself buying a cool vintage Seiko for $1000 but for a new Seiko at almost 3K? No chance
Prefer the OG MM300
I love my middle range Seiko but at that price point Seiko has no idea how to make standard luxury watches like side crown misaligned bezel and bracelet I rather buy Swiss brand like longines for that price
Sorry but that's tudor, oris and longiness territory, and touching Omega....when you're paying this much, brand name matters. I don't care what materials or manufacturing or polishing proccess are used. If I'm payng this much, i want the exclusivity and luxury of a brand name, despite the aforementioned brands not being luxury, technically speaking.
I can buy a $300 Erebus with on the fly micro adjust, but a $3000 Seiko doesn’t have it. Huge miss. And the 4:30 date is awful.
I love the 4:30 date 😂
Why anyone would spend that much money on a Seiko just blows my mind. So many better options out there
NO Seiko ever brilliant steel though on this new release which is another disappointment.
I'll wait 6 months or so
The Date 👇
If Seiko is going to fit a date, and it has to be at 4.30, why oh why oh why does it have to be on the tilt??? 🤬 Too tight to fit the correct date wheel, or have an on-the-fly micro-adjust clasp (that $200 aliexpress watches have) on a $2900 watch!!! 🙄. It’s just about the money now Seiko, isn’t it?!
It's always about the Money !
Oh stop it. They make other offerings that are almost on par with the Marinemaster.
Lovely watch but over priced, the value proposition just isnt there
It's made in the Grand Seiko studio using Grand Seiko methods and Grand Seiko parts.
2.5K for a Grand Seiko seems pretty good value to me.
@@pk1342 at $4550 here in Australia it's a hard pass for me. Far better options in that price bracket here.
8l55 would be better
Also framed date window
Is it me or does every Seiko dial look the same? Other than changing the movement and the materials it's the same watch as their cheaper ones. No difference is accuracy. And yes I know you don't buy an automatic for accuracy. But +15/-10 seconds a day is just horrible. Not to mention it's 42mm in diameter. A 39mm or 40mm would have grabbed more of the market. Seiko stays in the past on their watches. No innovation just copy and repeat. I own many Seiko's, but can't justify this buy on the new SLA Marinemaster.
Slowly getting better for each model... not unlike Rolex?
i agree......next month they'll have an SLA 80 and 81 in two new colors 😮
Consistency in design language is literally what makes a brand recognizable.
Yes they all look similar.
Previous MM(SLE117/119) are 39.5mm and look totally different, aren't they?
That price is great.
Seiko Prospex SPB381J1 GMT is better looking . So your paying £1500 for the movement or more . Make Titanium , for that price . & what is the likelyhood of QC issues 🤦♂️
Zero
@@pk1342 do you have the new Marinemaster ?
@@steadman2683 no but I have 8 other watches, all Seiko (one is a wired) with zero QC issues. The SLA models are made in Grand Seiko studios and are not famous for having QC issues
@@pk1342 thanks for the tip , I will keep that in mind 😊
Totally worth the money.. Looks great too!
Tudor is better at this price!
Don't like it's optics.... Looks cheap
Overpriced & overrated, and your grammar isn’t much better. It’s “Seiko is back”.
3000 euros.
After all that many years if thats what they can come up with its pretty tragic, not to mention they are a german brand and germans are known for their engineering.
hahahahahha rip, off for idiots...
Urgh the f**king miss aligned date wheel! They align models that sell for much cheaper!
As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, AMZWATCH is a good choice.
In Toronto canada I buy a super super clone I bring it to a rolex expert he say it was real rolex . Unbelievable. Your super clone look just like mine. You a expert but a regular person like me will never know. Imagine on AMZWATCH
