Im a 24 year old ninja 400 owner. Your video was incredibly clear and helpful I just want to thank you!!
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
@motomecha530 your video has saved me money since I posted this comment and my ninja 400 is always with fresh oil now
Very nice and clear video. Thanks you
nice and simple-- great video, thank you.
Thanks! Hope it helped!
Hi, I just got my ninja 400. Is there any other maintenance I should look for besides oil changes, and cleaning of the chain
Thank you! This is a good help
Welcome! Hope it helped!
Hey Mike, many years ago I believe in 2014, you fixed my old 1998 Suzuki gs500 over at RevMoto. I got many more years of service out of it thanks to you. Now I have a 2021 Ninja 400 and I'm happy to have found you on TH-cam! Do you currently have your own shop?
Awesome, Glad to hear!!! Ya, I work from home now in Oceanside. E-mail me! Motorcyclemecha@gmail.com.
You should fill the oil filter with oil and be sure to torque spec your bolt.
Good advice!
I never torque anything, just tighten and an ugga dugga. Was doing my first oil change on my ninja 500 today, used a torque wrench and cracked the pan
Really great video. It will help me when I go to change the oil on my bike. Thank you 😁
Perchance do you have the torque spec for the drain bolt off hand? I haven't been able to find it in my manuals 😬
Hope it helps! I believe about 25 lbs. But I would double check.
Whats the name of the tool you use to take off the drain plug? I cant get mine off with a regular wrench think i need that long tool you have
Channellock
just want to thankyou for being super clear, as a 19 year old first time bike owner i now feel comfortable to do this on my own!
Put oil in your oil filter first before installing onto the bike
Ok
Does the manual say to do it? If not DO NOT DO IT, you can cause debris blockage and screw your bike
You should do it naturally because the oil filter is dry and you don't want to attach the filter to the bike dry it should have oil inside before riding again. Let the oil soak into the filter. Before attaching to bike.
Have you ever service a 2004 Vulcan 2000?.. Getting an accurate oil level reading on that thing seems like you need the stars to be aligned and maybe a little bit of witchcraft.
Uhhm probably at some point. Next one that rolls in I'll check it out.
try a ZX6R with the side mount filter PITA !
Yeah! That’s always a fun one!
Do you have to keep changing the drain bolt washer? I don’t see why you have to when it’s a washer. Unless it’s cracked
I know a lot of people flip it and get one more use out of it. Supposed to replace it every time, but i definitely wouldn’t use it more than twice
I checked my oil gauge and my oil is black I just bought it brand new ninja 400 2023 first bike, have about 1250 miles. Is it time to swap it out with new oil?
Yes, definitely. I have nearly the same situation funnily enough
@@sirfoogleton WTF!!!?? ME TOO!!!!!??? IM FREAKING OUT RN! WHAT!? 😭 I got a new ‘23 N400 and I’m at 1200 TOO!!! AND IM CHANGING IT TODAY! You both are amazing thanks for making me feel less crazy 🤣
@@TJ-ze4tr I bought the ninja 300 oil change kit and did it myself and perfectly fine I’m already at 1800 miles and I change it at 1329 and I ride it everyday and it’s what I use to get to work and run airins so check it out I believe it cost like $45 after taxes.
Yes, especially if you never did the 600mi service. I change my oil when I notice the gears don't shift as smooth, usually around 2500mi intervals.
Which oil filter did u use ?
I believe a HifloFiltro HF303RC
