nope it bid over my budget unfortunately, but have my eye on something else rover!
There's a crazy hatchback revival movement going on, for both old and new vehicles. Even in the USA which is not really their turf.
Seeing those collectors well maintained & traded for not excessive prices warms my gen X heart. Thanks for sharing. 💙

I found the live auction and saw that it went for 4500!
Spotted something else that was strange... a Porsche 944 on an F plate which was registered in 1984 explain, that one?! It also had the earlier dashboard as I use to own an E reg one with the later dashboard! Not sure why its got an earler registration when its from 1984.... weird!
The Golf GTi went for 10k!

I had a MK1 Fiesta on a Y registration in Champagne Gold. I was a 1.1 Popular, I loved that wee car...!!
Had a Mk1 Fiesta in the 90s. Exact same colour/trim. Stickered as having Zeibart rust proofing. Was in great condition.
My first car was a T reg Mk1 Fiesta 1.1L - yellow with a vinyl roof, and those houndstooth seats. Wow, was it really 40yrs ago !

1978 mk1 fiesta 1.1 was my first car. Best car I ever had ❤
Some interesting and lovely cars there, I had a MK 1 Fiesta and a Rover 416 sli that was pretty quik for a 1.6, but the engine failed at about 126,000 miles on the clock, please show more old cars like this 👍👍

When did anyone last see a poverty spec golf mk1 with the 1.1 or 1.3 engine?
You could get really stupid high fuel economy from both diesel engines…..the facelift model is better finished inside the cabin. A colleague of mine had a mk1 diesel. It did develop starting problems in winter tho.
I learned to drive in a mk2 fiesta with the same 950cc engine. I found it very heavy to drive, with lots of noise, and very sharp clutch.
IMO the rover 600 is the last decent bigger rover. I never liked the retro styling of the 75. My own theory is bmw axed the 600 because they knew if they spent some money on it, they would end up with a rival to the 3 series or new 1 series.
I own a mk1 golf gti, they handle amazing I've upgraded the suspension to be racing coilovers. I totally agree with you on thr long throw luckly mine has a short throw shifter installed so feels alot better
