A feller could have spent some money on rust repair instead of lowering the truck and making it less useful . But it’s your show . You can waste money as you see fit .
My father, a farmer owned a 1974 dodge pickup. He had it 10 years then bought hos last truck, a 1984 dodge pickup. He liked the slant 6. He passed in 1998 but could not drive the last couple of years, A nephew got the 1994 and as far as I know it is long gone.
I used to own a parts warehouse and appreciated your comments re having a good relationship with parts guys. We would always lets good mechanics/diyers walk the back shelves and find what they were looking for. I still find it fun trying to remember the parts numbers for the various parts you replace. Merry Christmas. Brown Christmas here too. (Central Alberta)
Maybe it’s a flatlander thing, but I always cringe when you delete (cut) the parking brake cables. Maybe because where I live, hills are everywhere. And I use the parking brake a lot.
Looks great! Nice job lowering. Yea, less useful but it isn't my truck and I love it anyway. You're right though. Would be cooler as a stepside though again less useful... Odd that no one points that out but hate lowering trucks.
I will always love these, I had a 79 with pretty healthy 440 and auto, that truck was scary, but fun as hell! Did the MOPAR Cop wheels, had them widened front the rear, 15X10 up front, and 15X13 rear with the "Ram Charger" Aluminum center Caps, Really made the look PERFECT! I did a "B" body front suspension, so I could play with stance, had the Race Hemi Bars, so it handled really well, also had an "E" body rear axle with locker and 3.91 gears! My truck was "Race Hemi Orange" with the charcoal rims and white letter Goodyears! Sexy Sexy!
Man I wish you could post pics in the comments. I’d love to see that truck. I’ve got a 77 W100 Power Wagon that I’m putting a 440 from my motorhome in. You don’t see many of these trucks around any more.
I have an 86 f350 that was 460 swapped from a 6.9 diesel by an RV repair shop here on the Olympic Peninsula, WA. I bought it after the work had been done, EXCELLENT fit and finish on the short tube headers they used! I’ve had them on and off several times with no issues and no leaks… Hard to say the same for the clapped out 460’s I’ve been dealing with!
I had a 78 D200 with a 400BB, 4 bl, and Hedman Elite headers. The headers were $400 in 2003! But they fit perfect and worked GREAT! I also had a 71 Sweptline shorty with a 383, the unfortunately non-synchro NP435 granny 4 speed, and 3.55 Sure Grip. It had Hooker Competition headers that you cant get anymore. I love headers!
Really? I was driving behind a lowered truck, with the 3/16" of total suspension travel it was hilarious! Dude drove across some railroad tracks and literally pieces were flying off! Who would purposefully do that to a truck that can actually do things like tow and haul stuff and not have to slow down to 6mph to cross over a bump. Just sayin... For a friend...
9 minutes in, I am really really digging this truck! Except for the rocker panel and fender rust, I am really pleased with the looks of this truck as is. To me, the ride height and stance is appropriate.
Professor Mortske is our junked truck surgeon. Makes me glad to know ive hung on to my 79f100, 95e250van with 8000 lb towing package, 98f150fleetside4x4, 94ranger 4x4 with 200k miles and no oil leaks,4.0v6 and a 2003 mercury marquis.
Just got back form a 2600 mile round trip through the Midwest. Spreading the word with my Mortske Low Life T Shirt. Got lots of comments so know your fans are out there sir! Merry Christmas to you . Duff. Mojo, Chin and all the crew.
I consider this a personal Christmas present to me, been asking about this truck ever since I glimpsed it up there on the lift. Had a 400 HP small block in it, 727, 3:55 gears in a '75 D-100.....it sounded GOOOOOOD!!!! PULLED the engine, put it in a '78 SWB 4WD (W'150) w/ M880 military axles, 4:10 gears for mud racing.
yeah those rims gotta go gotta get some 15x7 police slotted steel rims with the center caps or just plane with no cap is the way I would have it. That's a sweet truck
Another good one sir, thank you. Your shenanigans have compelled me to finally get serious about working on Gertie the '49 Ford F-2. Since bodywork and rust repair sucks, I'm saving it for last. However, just since I've been watching your videos, I've installed a new radiator, hoses, clamps, battery tray, welded up and refurbished the front and rear splash pans (all work has been to bring the truck back to OEM specs. and appearance. Yeah, am a bit of a purist.), adjusted the brakes, installed a repro temp gauge (original died), restored the spare tire carrier and hardware, restored a spare original rim, bought a new OEM type tire from Specialty Tires of America (should get tire mounted, and get it all tucked under the truck next week), and restored the headlight buckets and hardware. Also bought new king pins, a new OEM type wiring harness, and have collected in the last few years new leaf springs, shackle kits, etc. Hope to install all the parts by Spring. Thank you Mort, you've been an inspiration.
It's a Christmas miracle, putting headers on a Mopar big block is about as fun as putting them on a Pontiac big block. When you mentioned the rear diff being a quart low and no big wet area, I thought this can't be good, we will see what goodness is hiding behind cover number one at bearing time. Hope the axle shaft isn't shot with that bearing going bad, down side of c clip axles, Merry Christmas.
What a great way to spend Christmas afternoon. I am now washer educated. Also South Carolina (not other States) has outlawed the Carolina Squat! If you miss them go to Louisiana. 😂
Merry Christmas to you and the whole Mortske Repair family! I don't usually watch hour or longer auto repair videos, but this was very entertaining! Well done.
It’s crazy how interchangeable some of these parts are I never would have thought FOMOCO, GM, and Mopar parts would be cross platform. The more you know
@:27 - Used to have one of those "Lil Red Truck" paint schemes roll around this side of the neighborhood. As a kid, it was like seeing a giant hotwheels truck.
1 year ago we had wind chill of -19 with 21" snow & today it was 58 & partly sunny until late today when it started raining ! Merry Christmas @Mortske !
Had a ‘74 ramcharger with a spicy lil 360 in it some 25 yrs ago…i had bought that truck for $300 at the time cause the reverse gear was non existant…you learn how to park on hills and pull all the way through on parking spots real quick…when all else fails you always have 4wd to just make it out of there…..that is one of the few vehicles i deeply regret getting rid of…but then again i was younger and didnt have the money or knowledge to repair stuff like that as i do now!!!…..awesome job and slick truck Mr.Mort!!!
Hi Mortski, I just did the same job on my 77 D100 I used the B Van lower control arms and they work great, I Lowered the front about 3 inches and the rear 6 inches. I too have a factory-installed 440 in this truck. The previous owner already had installed headers and a factory later-model mini starter. Not sure what brand the headers are, but they fit well with no modifications. The ring gear is welded onto the torque converter.
Merry Christmas Sir Mortske and Lord Duff! It’s funny. Back in the dark ages, when I was young, Keystone mags, white letters out, and lift kits were the thing. Steelies, black walls were what you had when you couldn’t afford anything
The Duff man seriously inspects what your are talking about on film at that moment it is great .....he is a real Car dog. Like we say he is a Car guy(in to cars).
Merry Christmas Mortske and Duff! I had a W200 440/727/Dana 60/60/NP203 Club Cab Ex Pennsylvania Forestry Truck in Medium Blue. The body was mint but I had to put floors and a seat. With a lift, 40" Gumbo Monster Mudders for offroad and 35X12.50X 15 street tires this truck was impossible to get stuck. It rode very nice for a 4wd that high, the heavily padded custom seat helped considerably. Fuel mileage was about 15mpg. I did a lot of work to make it even sweeter, then sold it for a sizable amount to buy my first house. I sold it in 1997 and wish I still had that truck. Here in South Central Pa, these are all but impossible to find unless they are a basket case. I paid 1500$ for it in 1992 and made a lot of money off of it.
1:32:50 you could always custom make a set of rear shackles an 1.5 inch or so longer than the ones that are in it now. It'll give you a little more clearance without sacrificing your stance.
Thank You Mr. Mortske for the Christmas day Video. God Bless you and the entire Mortske Family. The love Duff shows for you when he jumps up for pets and ‘good puppers’ shines bright. Happy New Year! Love the Duff!
When I first started watching Mortske last year, I couldn't understand why he hated headers so much. Now I know! I'm still trying to figure out anti-white letters & Cragar wheels, but I guess a few more 2 hour episodes & maybe I'll understand that! Love ya' Moretske, thanx for the entertainment!
Totally agree on the black steelies, 7 and 8".. dodge had a 15x8 steely on the 4 wd.. possibly might find a pair... the 383 is the 327 of mopars, you will love the way it runs! 👏👏
I had a 3/4 ton one, same year and color with 318. I was into hot rods, low riders, and the mini truck scene at the time. Also needed a workable truck. So I chopped the top 12”! Bucket seats on the floor instead of the bench seat. Made a dump bed but it was like a workable bed that could dump a full load of dirt/ gravel. Then got a sung top that had had side windows originally. So chopped away 12” of lower half. Split down the middle and mounted with hinges so it opened the snug top like butterfly wings. Then later modified the dump bed to the whole bed could raise up and back also. Did suspension drop so the frame was 1” off the ground. Plan was to do a 3” working suspension but on hydraulics so it could ride nice or get slammed to lifted slightly above stock height. But before it all got finished a friend’s dad was in a bad way and blew up his 318 and it broke the transmission housing at same time. He needed it for work and mine was a toy, so gave him the truck to fix his daily driver. Always wondered where they crazy truck went.
on those older trucks we always ran the exhaust just outside the frame plenty of room and makes it easy to work on every thing under the truck. you turn at center dump exhaust and go outside frame on the raised section
If i had the money, id buy that in a minute!! The ol D100 looks GOOD! 👍😎 Good job! Hope you're having a Merry Christmas Mort! 🎁🎄 And a Merry Christmas to Chin, Mr. And Mrs. Pookie, Mr. And Mrs. Mojo, Duff and anyone else i may have forgot. And stay safe in that storm, i saw ND is getting some ice and snow.
Wow I will eat my words and tacking the axle bearings and seals. Agreed 💯% with your diagnosis and fix. May you all have a great Christmas 🎄 Duff and Mr Mortske!
I saved your video for last on Christmas day because the weather in Florida is cold and rainy but I stay warm by laughing. Especially the reverse replays.
I just hauled my dads 74 d100 318 3 on the tree reg cab long box 2wd from. Where its slept for 32 yrs hopefully I can bring it back to life and enjoy driving the wheels off it like dad used to just to my style
Great warch here for me in New Zealand as these old English Classics were part of my learning about cars back in the 70s 80s, Zephyrs are my love.....kia ora.
I helped my best friend who was a big dodge and Mopar fan lol, had swapped out a big block ac California emissions 440 thermoquad carbbed motor out of a 75 dodge adventurer se d200 club cab long bed with a 4spd, and we put the 77 b100 short wheelbase van dodge tradesman type,2bbl Holley 318 tf727 and the truck d/w series transmission plate from a 4x4 with the holes welded shut and swapped in a automatic steering column,it was a ac truck and the motor pretty much dropped right in place except for the y pipe van exhaust and the smog pump on the 75 dodge club cab truck...
Speaking of old auto part stores, I remember going to Chiefs' auto parts. Also tech tip on cheap headers like these. Cut the flange in between the first and last primary tube and use multi layer aluminum gaskets and they will never leak.
You mentioned hurting yourself and then a few minutes later you tried to force a shock on and appeared to be moving/rocking the vehicle on the lift. 😮 I'm really glad that wasn't foreshadowing. Stay safe!
Merry Christmas Mort, Duff, Pop and Mama Mortske, Chin, and especially Mojo. Thanks for all of the entertainment all year long!! May next year be even better thank this one for y’all.
Oh hahaha. And i gotta share the funny of the day. 1:13:18 headers are the biggest home wrecker you ever heard of. 😂. Thanks for making me roar this early this a.m. (I agree. They suck but that was hilarious)
Thanks Mr. Mortsky and Duff! For Christmas gift of watching you do your thing to a Mopar! I really wish I had the loot to buy this! 1970s RAM lowered and a big block! Haven't seen you do a rig this cool since you worked on The King! I have a feeling that someone is going to grab this truck up fast from you. Merry Christmas to you Chin, and Duff!
Theres also stock mopar 15x 6-1/2 steelies for the front.. love the look, My 74 stepside was a parked for eons, abandoned 327 swap.. went through it also..lots of fun, keep it all up 👌👌
She’s a pretty clean truck underneath. I had a ‘78 and a ‘79, the ‘79 being my first new vehicle. It was a 318, 4bbl, short box, and no accessories at all, not even PS. It was surprisingly quick.
A feller could have spent some money on rust repair instead of lowering the truck and making it less useful . But it’s your show . You can waste money as you see fit .
How exactly is it less useful? Easier to get in and out of now. Easier to load and unload the bed.
Some say that...This Feller sounds like he tells people to "Get in there nice and deep like" while caressing his belly button...
Buying Chrysler products Instead of Fords...PURE LOVE and Joy.
Oh, STFU and Merry Christmas Mr.Scrooge!
Someone didn't love you enough when you where a little guy
Mojo is a tremendous asset to have in the shop. Older guys have a lot to offer in experience and patience.
Wisdom can only be experienced. Never bought.
Mortske is cool, but Duff Dog is the REAL superstar. Duff is adorable!
The white letters out definitely look right on her! I'm a ford guy but I love these litlle trucks too. Should be pretty sweet with that 383 in there!
I agree!!

2 hours of Mortske on Christmas morning!? Yup we like that
I'm not a fan of lowered trucks, but on the positive side, I still enjoyed the video.
Right on
What a great Christmas Day present! All the best to you, Mr. Mortske and all the people (and Mr. Duff ) that make these videos possible 🙏🎄

Duff is truly loved. He is your loyal companion. I love how inspects your new projects. Makes me miss my my old buddy Nelson.RIP😮💨
The only thing I got for Christmas.... 2 hour Mortske....thanks bud !!!!!

Thanks for working through the holiday Sir Mortekis.
Dennis, i really like the story on the Shoebox , especially about the spotlights , thanks for the video
My pleasure!

Merry Christmas. Being a fellow Nord dakotan gotta be loving our winter this year. Makes for lots of shop time!

Speaking of old auto part stores, I remember going to Chiefs' auto parts. Also tech tip on cheap headers like these. Cut the flange in between the first and last primary tube and use multi layer aluminum gaskets and they will never leak.
Merry Christmas from North Pole Alaska. You and Duff make alot of people happy with your channel thank you
same to you!
white letters look good on this one .gota be honest .nailed it
A 383 HIPO is my absolute favorite Mopar engine!!!
May next year be even better thank this one for y’all.
same to you!
Merry Christmas Mortske and duff ..and viewers 🎄
same to you!
Oh hahaha. And i gotta share the funny of the day. 1:13:18 headers are the biggest home wrecker you ever heard of. 😂. Thanks for making me roar this early this a.m.
(I agree. They suck but that was hilarious)
I've never heard Mortske cry as much as he has in this video about a complete good condition running truck.
You must not be a regular viewer.
Happy holidays!
I’m a ford guy but I have a soft spot for mopars. I think it’s because the skat pack were so bad ass. Merry Christmas all!
same to you!

Right on
She’s a pretty clean truck underneath. I had a ‘78 and a ‘79, the ‘79 being my first new vehicle. It was a 318, 4bbl, short box, and no accessories at all, not even PS. It was surprisingly quick.
