i cant fathom how people would complain about more content for free....skip or dont sit down at one time lol longer vids are just fine for the 98% of us thanks morts and duffs cheeers
I promise you I’m going to leave you 10 separate comments in the comments section to help the algorithm for every time you mention little Tiffany. You have made my household not only a place of laughter but also a battlefield. It’s amazing how little Tiffany aka my beautiful wife (she’s sitting right next to me 😳) loves these comments about her. Whether it’s about her being at the club with glitter or the backseat of a Camaro . These comments bring joy and happiness to us in the cold January winter. Thank you my friend.
Personally, I think the detailed walk around/walk under is one of the staples of your style, and one of my favorite segments. I always learn something about what to look for, what to avoid. Please ignore the A-hole complainers, you might save someone from making a huge mistake.
Thanks Mortske & Duff for doing it again with a great video on a freezing day. You’ve been knocking 'em out of the park even on the coldest weeks, holidays, ice storms, no power…yet you and the Duff Dog still make it happen. Love the Duff!
Great presentation this week . The 79 Camaro was a true nugget of a find , and it comes with all the bells and whistles that any connoisseur would want . Thanks for having us all along and educating us while we sat back and enjoyed the ride . Till next time stay warm , healthy , and safe . One of your many fans , Stuart in Ontario ..

I bought a 1976 Trans Am when I was 16---Dad signed the paperwork and I still remember the new car smell. Cost me $5200.00 non A/C car. Brought back some great memories. Thanks
I had a 1976 Trans Am and it was an absolute piece of garbage. EVERYTHING went wrong on it before it even had 50k miles. Too much to list. A money pit. I hope you had better luck.
This is Probably one of the nicest cars to Pass through Mortske's shop in the three years I've been watching , another good Monday morning Mortske Video .
Nice find. Totally agree with fixing old hack job stuff with oem parts. I personally liked the raised white letters but more tire gives it "the stance." Great video 😁
As always great content, informative, funny, interesting. We also need to give chin credit for consistently editing grammy award potential content! See ya next monday!
Gotta love those F bodies - I am the original owner of a 75 Firebird Esprit; when I restored it 20 plus years ago, I swapped in a 455 - it certainly does a fine one tire fire. Wish I could say mine was as rattle free as your Camaro - it rattles everywhere.. Then again, it was almost that bad when it was new...70's build quality - no bueno.
Nice car for a Camaro I laughed when you asked Duff are we far enough away from the cops and when you punched the throttle his head popped up really fast 😊 Another great video Mortske
Thanks for another awesome video!! I love these old F bodies. I had a 69 SS back in the early 80's & loved it!! I was a stupid 16 year old & sold it & have regretted it! Just a FYI, when I was younger I worked for a transmission shop for 10 years & I'd have people come in complaining about either the front pump seal or tail shaft seal leaking even after they put new ones in. You may already know this, but just in case you didn't most of the time it's because the frt. pump or tail shaft bushing is worn too much. The bushing is what does the majority of the sealing of the transmission fluid. The seals work more as a dust shield keeping things out of the transmission & will catch any residual fluid that gets past the bushing. You always want to check the bushings for excessive wear anytime you see it leaking from either place. Especially the frt. pump bushing because there's nothing worse than having to pull the transmission back out because it's still leaking. Like I said you may have already known that, but just in case you didn't or someone reading this has had this problem, maybe this will help!! Thanks for all of your hard work, plus all of the tips & tricks on repairing these old rigs! I learn something new in every one of your videos & truly appreciate it!! I love the longer videos as you probably can tell by how long this comment ended up being!!😂😂😂
Great job on the seats. Someone is gonna love that Camaro. Did new bucket seat foam last year and after the first hog ring bite, I switched to zip ties and dumped those rings in the trash. Upholstery should be left to the pros!
I really enjoyed this one. You got a bunch of stuff buttoned up which I appreciate. I may never be able to afford one of these beauties, but I can live vicariously through these video. Good stuff as always!
Good Morning Mr. Mortske! You and Duff got a great score there with this Camaro! The late 2nd Gens are my favorites out of all the Camaro models. The '74s also had the 'flat' back windows, like the 70 - 73s, but the '74 was the first year with the curved headlight tunnels. There's definitely never any of these for sale at a reasonable price around my part of the world, so you done good getting a good deal on this one. I've been a Camaro guy since I was a teen - my first was a '74. I've had another '74, a '77, an '85, and a '95 over the years, and currently have a 2000. The 4th Gen is my 2nd favorite - they're not very loved, so still fairly affordable. Always on the lookout for a decently priced 2nd Gen, though! Great stuff here!
Bypassing neutral safety is okay if you use the brake light switch to do it... ( so you'd have to be holding the brake to crank it because it thinks iti is in gear unlessthe brake lights are on )
I have never in my life paid payments on any car I've owned. I've always paid cash, my Grandpa and Dad always told us to save our money and pay cash! No payments, No stress! 😊
We bought 2009 Mercury last spring. The back seat had a seam that came apart. The upholsterer wanted $300.00 to repair the seat, but only $25.00 if I took the cover off and reinstalled it myself. When I took the seat cover back to be sewn, the upholsterer charged me $20.00 and threw in some hog rings. I had to buy better cutters to remove the hog rings, but I managed to get the cover back on with cheapo hog ring pliers from Lowe’s( the pliers weren’t the best)😁.
I had a'79 Z28 350 4speed. Paid almost nothing for it. Was sitting at the side of a house and I got it running in one afternoon then drove it over fifty miles home. Those were the days pre 2000. What you could find for 500 bucks now goes for atleast 5g. Parts are now marked up so high it's rediculace.
Nice car. I have a 1980. The urethane bumper cars were 1978-81. That is the correct fenders for a 1978 Z28. It would have a different hood. Black interiors seemed to hold up better. Great find!
Yep.. needs the hood. And the original gauge cluster inlay for a '78 Z is one of the hardest things you'll ever try to find. '78 is my fav year of the 78-81 Z models.
I think those wheels you put on there really took alot away from the look of the Camaro. The other ones with the white letters out really fit the car and made it look like a mussel car. Other than that great video really enjoyed it as old Camaros are my fav.
lol Duff digging the ride… Camaro would be a great starter for anybody. It’s got so much new stuff to it and everything you corrected… good deal 👍 You all stay warm .
Great video. Thks for doing a camaro. My 1st car back in '80 was a '76 model. Girl magnet. Great car...It got passed down to my younger bros & sis's. Would love to find one again.
Good catch on the fan! My neighbor had some family come to McCook for July 4th several years ago. On their way into town, the water pump let loose on their mid 90s Suburban, sending the fan through the radiator. My neighbor, being a BIG derby guy, was able to come up with a radiator and fan, and the replacement parts were installed without problems. Since it was 105°F, they wanted to make sure the A/C worked good. It worked fine as long as the engine was cool, but when the engine was warmed up, no A/C. The engine would get HOT going down the road, even with no A/C. They were looking at the fan clutch when we noticed that since the water pump was driven from the smooth side of the serpentine belt, the pump (and fan) spun opposite of 'normal' rotation. This pushed the air the wrong way through the radiator. The right fan was installed, and life was good again.
Blue paint on that Camaro looks really good a 3 tone Blue Z28 strip kit would set that car off. Taking those race seats out and redoing the old Camaro/Nova seats and putting those in did that Camaro justice, great video
I swapped my 308s out for 373s. That car was a beast, was my spare car pretty much, i had a 73 Charger RT as my main driver. That 78 needed too much work, so we connected sub frames and installed cage made dirt track car out of it. Dold a year later actually got more out of than i had in it. Was a fun car. Oh, the good old days. My old man was glad i let it go. I had a good jobb but it was expensive paying my own fuel and insurance et. Great vid Dave!!! You never disappoint!
Thanks Mortske, really impressed how you keep putting out long videos every week, but it's really destroys my productivity!! One weird thing with youtube, no matter what I watch, your videos always come on afterwards! It's like the tv is stuck on one channel!!
My Camaro was a 1989 Camaro Rally Sport with same color!!! The dark metallic blue. I loved that car. I bought it brand new right out of the USAF Bootcamp in San Antonio, Texas, flew to my home town of Moline Illinois, the home of John Deere Tractor factory, baought the car with plastic on the seats, and 3.8 miles on the odometer, stationed at Chanute Air Force Base Illinois,
I'm not really an f body fan but that's a pretty clean one. You should get a pretty good return on it. I have to admit it I love the g bodies but to each their own.😁
I’m with you… g-bodies were way cheaper on insurance and with the right motor and trans you could easily match the performance and parts were cheaper too…. It was all about the budget back then
Warming the covers first ,helps. You can glue those pleat sections in , first. Also better hog ring pliers help alot! Ya can use zip ties too. My buddy (RIP Fred) Made this kits look great! Love Dubs
Had same fan problem when I took electric fan off my 78 bronco. I had bought a fan from a wreaking yard it was a late model fan designed to run on serpentine system so rotation was backwards. Made my aftermarket round bar grill really hot. Went back dug through the fan pile found one with right pitch worked great after that.
My first car was a 79 Z28 in brown. Had all the bells and whistles, a/c, cruise control, Ttops, 2 wheel peel. Put a mild cam in the 350 automatic, wish it was manual. I regret ever getting rid of it. Like the 78 you just showed. My Z28 mechanically was good, needed some body work that at the time I couldn’t afford since I was in high school at the time.
Burnouts are great but boogaloo’s are my favorite! I owned a very nice’79 Firebird Formula in’87. Built 400. Very similar car to your Z28. They didn’t seem to be built very well but look nice. Good video! Duff is such a kewl stud! He likes burnouts!
im a nurse at a prison, I had the inmates do the front and back seats in my 66 buick special with new foams and they repaired broken springs. and they cut new upholstery and it looks so fantastic. 775 for all, and they made the slide mechanism work again.
Personally I like the start to finish episodes. No jumping around to find the next one. Love the OEM bracketry and pully's. I have a bin that any salvage motor gets stripped and contributes. They are pure gold when you need just the right fit or offset as designed.
That is a factory Roped Z28 Steering wheel that came in the Z28 Camaro's. Soak it in the sink in purple cleaner and scrub it with a stiff brush. It takes a little time but it works. I have 4 or 5 of these wheels. Their kind of pricey if your trying to find one.
I had a 1979 camaro back in the day. Kinda has wimpy steering parts idler arm and tie rod assembly was fixing every couple years. Front end scrapes and clearance issues on big tires. Nice car for the girls on the corner in China town lol.❤
Seems cool 😎 Mortske.!A great flip.’did not have to do a great deal of work. Does concern me how water got in the differential. Thanks for sharing. Might as well fix speedometer and gauges. 💯👍👊
Nice solid car, I'm sure it will sell fast! Thanks for the Monday morning entertainment as usual. Looking forward to the next video! Have a great week.
Wow, what a nice Camaro the blue looks nice. Those front seats look good as well. You have done a great job on fixing the things that needed fixin.. Great video.
The Right Stuff is definitely the right stuff. I've used it for a temporary (permanent) repair to a cracked transfer case. Held up great. Good for repairing torn windshield seals and rubber boots too.
REALLY one of THEE Nicest cars, that You've Ever had, Since i've been watching your channel. I myself have Never had Any desire to have a Camero, TA or A Fireturd..Not my thang..
Good tips on the upholstery I always wanted to see how car seats were done I’ve been considering doing this myself on my truck. You’re right about it being hard on the hands, I had a friend years ago that had to retire from the profession because his hands got so bad, he had forearms like Popeye. I’m not a big fan of long videos (short attention span) but I also don’t understand why a guy would complain about them…it’s not like you have to watch it all in one sitting. 👍🏻👍🏻 Good stuff dude!
In for the YT engagement for one of my fav creators. Looks like a pretty good find! Most of the big ticket items have already been done. That would make a great weekender car. GL with the sale, should flip fast. I need to get over to your page and pick up a super scraper. I have 3 engines to go through. Thank you for keeping us entertained! Time to watch Puddin's last vid upload.
30 yrs ago had a mint blue 1981 with T tops and a 305. Really good highway car. This video brings back memories! This car is way nicer than your usual hot garbage!
1:24:16 The power steering pulley on my 85 F150 is bent a good 20 degrees. Somehow. Don't know how, was like that when I got the truck in '07. 150,000+ miles on it and it never threw a belt or even ate a belt. V-belts are pretty good about tracking misaligned and damaged pulleys!
Mortske regarding the fitment of the seat covers, spray the outer edges of the seat foam with silicon spray. It makes it a lot easier to pull tight covers without the foam moving on the frame.
Thats a pretty sweet Score!!! 💪 Just about finished my late Brothers Stang that I was able to keep when he passed in 2016.. told myself an old 70's or early 80's Camero is next!!
This guy will sell F-A-S-T! Great bones - all the right things done to put it back on the road.. Love it that you show how important it is to look over a car no matter what you pay.. As always - great episode! Much appreciated that you actually showed what it needed to get seats recovered, even with a kit..
Ya see there ? You helped Dr. mojoe with that carpet and now ur dewin seats !!! Proud of you sir !!!! They’re Purdy. (incorrect spelling is to compensate for North Dakota accent) 😁💯
General Lee you have to put wire, like clothes hanger wire in the sleeves or tabs that go in the seat. Then hog ring through the foam. Which lends to wire on both sides of the foam. PITA. 38:59
I would have just used a saw and zapped the tops right off them racing seats so they didn't hit the roof . For being too tall I would just lower the floor pans a few inches . I just lied . That is a really nice car and it needs the right guy to help it out . Turns out that guy is you and the Duff Dog . I am jealous . Thanks for all the work you do man !
I watch every single video Mortske puts out and I have never commented before. But this time I think the wheel change made it look worse. The Torque Thrusts looked much better. Just mho.
You need an outdoor cat that will take care of your mouse problem. Duff would come around to them. Enjoyed the video I enjoy when you go through everything like you did.
Just a heads up, I had another mechanic put a serpentine waterpump on my car . It's a reverse flow pump. My engine overheated within a couple of miles. Once the correct pump was installed, everything was happy again. Thanks for sharing with us.
This message is for Duffaluffaguss. Tell your Dad to make a short video spotlighting you and your story. Everyone loves you Duff. Your dad's pretty cool too.
Really enjoyed this Camaro rework! And tell Duff Pudden sends his thanks for the gifts he sent to him! He is especially appreciative since there were no thumbs involved on Duffs part. Good thing you’re selling this Camaro Mortski, it’s just to nice a ride for the girls you hang out with.
Great stuff Mortske, that Camaro is a solid rig! Back many years ago when I recovered the front seats of a 1980 Firebird, I used dry cleaning bags to slide the cover over the foam for those upper front seat covers, and it worked great. The cheapo hog ring plyers I had fell apart at the swivel about half way through the job, so definitely get a good set of plyers!
Great video as always. I like the 2nd gen F bodies like that one. I had an 81 Camaro. Negative 6 in the morning!! I live in Pennsylvania and it's 15 here. Why do we live where the air hurts our faces?
Those Factory aluminum speedometer bullets always leak that's why I always replaced them with the a stainless steel bullet that comes with five different speedometer gears so you can correctly adjust your speedometer for the over size tires.
When I was stationed in Massachusetts I bought a blue with white stripe 79 Z28 with those same rims. I had a lot of fun in that car. Brings back memories. I probably wouldn't have bought it but the sales lady... well. Let's just say she was easier on the eyes than she was on the knit top she was wearing.
Please stop with the movies vids way to long😢
Wind your neck in
Then dont watch
Why? It's a video, you don't have to watch it in one sitting. 😂
That was quick

My first car was a 79 Camaro. That was about 1996 or so. It was a POS but it always made it to the beach instead of school.
Good comment!
My first car was also in 96, but it was a 73 Super Beetle. I could run faster!!
79 Camaro was my first car too!
My first car was a 64 F85 Cutlass with the 290 HP 330. Hate to say it but I would take the Pepsi Challenge against that Camaro any day@@noncertex
@michael - sounds like that car wanted to have fun as much as you did! 😊

I bought a 1976 Trans Am when I was 16---Dad signed the paperwork and I still remember the new car smell. Cost me $5200.00 non A/C car. Brought back some great memories. Thanks

Mortske it was very cool of you to send Puddin the jacks for his lift. You are a good guy. Good video.
Thanks!
Those wheels you just put on are ugly
Awesome!
Personally I like the start to finish episodes. No jumping around to find the next one. Love the OEM bracketry and pully's. I have a bin that any salvage motor gets stripped and contributes. They are pure gold when you need just the right fit or offset as designed.
Right on!
That is a factory Roped Z28 Steering wheel that came in the Z28 Camaro's. Soak it in the sink in purple cleaner and scrub it with a stiff brush. It takes a little time but it works. I have 4 or 5 of these wheels. Their kind of pricey if your trying to find one.
thanks for the tip!
I had a 1979 camaro back in the day. Kinda has wimpy steering parts idler arm and tie rod assembly was fixing every couple years. Front end scrapes and clearance issues on big tires. Nice car for the girls on the corner in China town lol.❤
I have done some upholstery in a previous job. You can get some of the wrinkles out with a steam machine. Nice job on the buckets. They look great.
Seems cool 😎 Mortske.!A great flip.’did not have to do a great deal of work. Does concern me how water got in the differential. Thanks for sharing. Might as well fix speedometer and gauges.
💯👍👊
Great video! Thanks to everyone!🐾🍺
Nice solid car, I'm sure it will sell fast! Thanks for the Monday morning entertainment as usual. Looking forward to the next video! Have a great week.
Same to you!
Wow, what a nice Camaro the blue looks nice.
Those front seats look good as well.
You have done a great job on fixing the things that needed fixin..
Great video.
Thanks 👍
The Right Stuff is definitely the right stuff. I've used it for a temporary (permanent) repair to a cracked transfer case. Held up great. Good for repairing torn windshield seals and rubber boots too.
The best!
Thank you!
Our pleasure!
Paying cash is the best car advice you can give. Well done!
Absolutely!
30 yrs ago had a mint blue 1981 with T tops and a 305. Really good highway car. This video brings back memories! This car is way nicer than your usual hot garbage!
Right on
Looks like a nice looking rig. Few little glitches here and there but it’s still ok. Looks like Duff is enjoying the new seats! Thanks for the ride!
That front end, which I really like, came into GM style around 76. My dad’s Vega had that front end.
1:24:16 The power steering pulley on my 85 F150 is bent a good 20 degrees. Somehow. Don't know how, was like that when I got the truck in '07. 150,000+ miles on it and it never threw a belt or even ate a belt. V-belts are pretty good about tracking misaligned and damaged pulleys!
interesting
You and the only person that has and will follow you to the valley of death and back! Duff Mortske!
Had a good time. You were right about the wheels and tires it looks great. I was doubtful at first looks good have a great week
Mortske regarding the fitment of the seat covers, spray the outer edges of the seat foam with silicon spray. It makes it a lot easier to pull tight covers without the foam moving on the frame.
Thanks for the tip!
Thats a pretty sweet Score!!! 💪 Just about finished my late Brothers Stang that I was able to keep when he passed in 2016.. told myself an old 70's or early 80's Camero is next!!
You dedication to your viewership is unmatched!
I put those exact seats in my 78 RS in all black vinyl and I love them. So to each their own.
This guy will sell F-A-S-T! Great bones - all the right things done to put it back on the road.. Love it that you show how important it is to look over a car no matter what you pay.. As always - great episode! Much appreciated that you actually showed what it needed to get seats recovered, even with a kit..
tHANKS!
This video makes me want a 1978 Camero... Z28 for my daughter. thanks Mortske. Best, feel good video of the year!
Our pleasure
Great buy and video..my first new car was a 1977 Camaro rs black and silver with the mighty 305..looked good anyway last year of the chrome Bumpers 😂
PITA. 38:59
yeah, billy goat did when he did the covers
@MortskeRepair a few buttons here and there might of tightened up also
Ah perfect Mortske! You did a 78 almost on my birthday! Great video as always! 👍
Happy birthday!
Love the merch it’s great quality!
I really like how u put stuff back on these old cars it should be, to be road ready. Thanks mortski
thanks for watchng!
I love the Count!! Another fave was Fargo North...Decoder😂
I watch every single video Mortske puts out and I have never commented before. But this time I think the wheel change made it look worse. The Torque Thrusts looked much better. Just mho.
Thanks for sharing
You need an outdoor cat that will take care of your mouse problem. Duff would come around to them. Enjoyed the video I enjoy when you go through everything like you did.
An outdoor cat in the winter? In the great white north? He better have a kitty door or he'll have a pussycicle
I agree about the Edelbrock carbs, they are great for a daily.
absolutely!
Just a heads up, I had another mechanic put a serpentine waterpump on my car . It's a reverse flow pump. My engine overheated within a couple of miles. Once the correct pump was installed, everything was happy again. Thanks for sharing with us.
thanks for the info
This message is for Duffaluffaguss. Tell your Dad to make a short video spotlighting you and your story. Everyone loves you Duff.
Your dad's pretty cool too.
Really enjoyed this Camaro rework! And tell Duff Pudden sends his thanks for the gifts he sent to him! He is especially appreciative since there were no thumbs involved on Duffs part. Good thing you’re selling this Camaro Mortski, it’s just to nice a ride for the girls you hang out with.
Right on!
Nice work always enjoy your videos Mr mortske ! Keep em coming 😊
Will do!
Thankyou!
Those old highback seats would be so terrible in Dirt Reynolds - that it should happen !! Great video and enjoyed seeing you do upholstery.
Great video, nice 78 too! frig the ones who say the vids are to long. I enjoyed it end to end. Learned seat repair too! 😊
We need more Duff and Mojo moments
Those Factory aluminum speedometer bullets always leak that's why I always replaced them with the a stainless steel bullet that comes with five different speedometer gears so you can correctly adjust your speedometer for the over size tires.
good to know
When I was stationed in Massachusetts I bought a blue with white stripe 79 Z28 with those same rims. I had a lot of fun in that car. Brings back memories. I probably wouldn't have bought it but the sales lady... well. Let's just say she was easier on the eyes than she was on the knit top she was wearing.
good times!
