Classic Mortske Repair video. All the right ingredients; Yankee thrift, work ethic, follow through, engineering, stream of consciousness dialog, dry martini humor, and Duff, Duff, Duff! Thank you !
Awesome, It's Mortske "ruin another truck" Monday! Seriously, why do people get so mad at what other people do to their vehicles? He could put it down on skateboards for all I care lol. Always love the old truck content!
My Dad had a yellow Dodge truck like that when I was a kid. He had it for many years and finally sold it and I still see it driving around today with the same original paint on it! Enjoyed the video, Thanks for sharing! 😁👍
Back when I was doing a lot of alignments. I had a couple of Dodge vans that I had that no matter how tight you got the eccentric bolts the weight of the vehicle would slam the adjustment back all the way in. I ended up getting the alignment spot on and tack welded the washer to the bracket on the frame. After that all I had to do was check the alignment and set the toe after changing components on those 2 vans.
When I was cleaning the front axle tubes on my jeep I used a piece of all thread with a big washer. Then used wire brush taped to all thread. Dig the music in this vid 👍
Duffers the permanent shotgun rider! The look of I wore myself out dad. Just leave the door open and I’ll get out after my nap. Could you bring me a drink and a fan? Thanks! 🤣😂🐶
The 9.25" rear end for the pickups is fairly beefy, stronger than the older 8.75" rear ends. When towing or performance is wanted, the 9.25" from the late 80's through 90's trucks came fairly often with 3.55 or 3.91 gear sets. Only thing you have to watch for is the axle tubes have a tendency to rot away at the spring shackle mounts. Chrysler never made an overdrive automatic for the B/RB engines, only choices that I know of (and that are kind of expensive) is adapting in a 4L60 or getting a custom built Dodge A518.
Mojo is the grandpa/ uncle every motorhead wishes they had. Someday you should dedicate part of an episode to him. It would be cool to know more about his history and how you guys met. Although he's probably so humble he might not be into it. Preferably before it's a memorial.
People call them the rain catcher hoods . I know a guy who has 7 of these trucks some used as parts trucks and the others are drivers some with 440 and some small blocks 2&4 wheel drive. He also has a very nice 68 Dodge Dart GTS factory 383 4spd car & is almost finished with his 68 Plymouth GTX convertible 440 car .
Same here, my Dad bought a brand new '75 W-100, short bed Club Cab. Did everything, went everywhere. Came with a 360 in it, Dad couldn't afford the extra $5 a month for the 440. But it got one later anyway. He sold the 360 to our Taxidermist's husband, he's STILL driving his truck with that engine in it. We didn't know it wasn't a 1-Ton judging by how over-loaded it got and how much weight it pulled. I remember the EXCELLENT fuse box location and the huge glove box lid my Mom always flipped down and put our fast food in while we ate. Sold it in the summer of '91 and got a '91.5 5 speed W-350 Cummins, luckily I still have that one. Bought it from him after I talked him into getting a new '97 5 speed Cub Cab Cummins 4wd. He'll NEVER SELL this one. Just paid big $$$ fully restoring it.

Great video , the Dodge is almost factory fresh , I'd talk to the alignment guy , maybe he needs some vitamins , or he was trying to work on something else, cause you were able to adjust the camber with little or no trouble . Thanks for the time and effort you put into the presentation , My week can now proceed at its usual pace . God Bless you and yours , say hello to MoJo and give Duff Dog a biscuit , he's a keeper !! Remflex exhaust gaskets are hands down the best ever... Plus it's a small washington-based business..made in the USA. I use them on almost everything especially big block mopars and Oldsmobiles.... Unless the header flange is extremely warped I've never had a failure.
It looks like that's a solid old truck it looks good and runs good but I think Duff wants it he was spending a lot of time in it ha ha awesome video I always enjoy watching thanks
Must be the best big block that Chrysler ever has made. 383 if taken care of and not over revved it will last a lifetime. Had many a friend that has had them and they lasted a good long time as long as you don't hammer it to death everyday you get in it.
55:25 you know it's funny you say that.. I bought a set of the Gear Wrench ratcheting open ended wrenches (well, one end I suppose) at HD a few years ago, I kept destroying the 'Pittsburgh' ones from harbor fright, but I think I lucked out, the 18 piece set SAE and Metric was like 60 bucks on some whacky deal and I had a gift card so it was free.. I've been buying GearWrench stuff ever since. My 10mm ratcheting end stopped, well, ratcheting, of course.. and man I did the online little replacement thing, sent them a picture and 3 days later they mailed me a brand new 10mm wrench. Free of charge. Milwaukee has treated me well too, they 'repaired' my tiny m12 impact gun within the 5 year period by like a WEEK, I did the online form and they emailed me a packing label, I figured wth it's broken and I couldn't get the part anyway so sure enough they basically reused the impactor end part and replaced EVERYTHING else FREE of charge.. funny thing is it was a $119 tool and individually the parts they replaced came out to $179. Huh.. they could have just sent me a refurbished one and I'd have never known, but like the plastic housing had some dings and scratches (not that I used my impact driver for anything 'other' than 'driving' bolts and the like, nah) they even added a little not on the 'invoice' that as a one time offering they'd replace the worn out housing even though that's not part of the warranty deal.. I was impressed. - sorry about the long post Mortske, I know you actually take the time to read all of these and even respond to most of them, that's super cool of you to do, very human like : )
None of my cars use metric wrenches, well the new ones do, but new cars aren't worth working on. I have a full set of Metric, SAE, and British standard. Sockets and wrenches. 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drive.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ I've learned that Mopar has their own set of quirks and problems, just something to get used to 😂 yes the exhaust manifold bolts go into the water jacket, it helps cool to exhaust 😂 this was a fun video. Keep up the great work and the awesome content 👍✌️🇺🇲
Loved that old Firestone truck! You look at vehicles in a junkyard and think you can rescue some. Then look underneath those and it's a horror show. That '67 Chevy was probably like that but it did look like a good one for some parts.
That's what you call "goin for a spin" 🥁 Thanks, I'll be here all week. I like that Dodge...just wish I could buy it. I mean "Do_ge" 😅 Good job Mort! We appreciate ya
Must have missed this video. The GM engine did sound good. Rear end fix seemed to do the trick. Will make a good flip. Thanks for sharing Mortske. 💯💕👊👍
As a mopar guy myself.. id say go get a 8.75 out of a 72 to 73.. youd get drop out center like a 9 ford and you can put the mopar green axle bearings in which are foolproof..
I’m glad you said that about the blood blisters I’ve received a few from those things not only did the last one I use give me a blood blister but it popped a blood blister too, so was this big cut purple thing on my hand
My first vehicle was a old d100. A mile out for a hill you had to floor it to creep over the top and you have to have oil and gas money to go anywhere. I still loved it then.. Learned to drive in a Dodge van my mom had with 318. Strange after driving Ford and Chevy after the fact realized vehicles don't have to be never ending problems.lol
It's weird, my '75 has the original paint and letters STUBBORNLY stay on the hood. My Dad bought his old '75 brand new, got hit in a parking lot in the first three weeks and got repainted, the letters were constantly falling off......mostly when he shot his Ruger 270 Win. over the hood!😮
I enjoyed watching you do some good work on that classic Dodge pickup from yester year. Looks like a clean going to town rig now. Like something for the girls we date, to go out in.

He like all the improvements to the shop great seeing you upgrade the slab out front hope you’ve thinking of building awnings off the front and back you could use them with all the show you get Of yeah dig the sign out front we have a big gulf sign just like it 😊
The same happened to me in the 70s with my 68 RR. The passenger side wouldn't align because the camber centric would bend out. Didn't wear the tire, so left it be.
Mortske FWIW someone probably took her on a tour of the ditch in the past. In college I worked at a BMW dealer. First gen X5s used the same system in the rear. We had a customer lose control in the snow and slide his X5 into a curb really hard and it sheared that little ear that locates the eccentric right off the subframe. That wheel likely took a hit at some time in its life and that’s what caused that ear to bend. I love the plate! 😂 Keep up the good work!
Very Nice!! And I’m not really a Mopar guy. Anyway, that Mojo he’s something else, give him some tools and an old engine and let him go! Thanks for the ride, looks like The Duff liked it too!
Mortske may be an irascible old fart (funny coming from me- about 20 years older than him), but he's really smart and quite humorous. I learn something from just about every video he posts, and you know how valuable that information is... stuff you need to know possibly once in a lifetime! One thing I have grown to love and expect in each of his videos is the cut away to an internet meme whenever he uses certain words and phrases ("You can tell that it's an aspen tree because of the way that it is.") I could have a "sammich" with him, except I don't dare go onto his property. Well, that and the fact that I live in Alabama. No matter... I'm still a Mortske fan!
I have a set of Williams ratcheting wrenches and I SWEAR they're IDENTICAL to my Gear Wrench ones.. I should look that up edit: sorry about all the comments this week, I am a fan of smart things and this seemed like a smart video..
On the ruin't from lowering it I agree. Some lowered trucks look good, but for my uses lowered trucks are pretty much useless. The less ground clearance is ok for a strictly on road use, but for those who get on dirt back roads and some light duty off roading, lowered trucks won't cut it. Often some trucks that are all stock don't have enough ground clearance.
Excellent video Mortske :) , MOJO :) , Duff Dog 🐕,, yes grease on back plates on Drums brakes parts does help and same time front brakes to on slider ! If do in Spring then Fall Season and save from wearing parts out too or stuck on problems! Even grease up Emergency brake pedal plus cables wire to back brakes to! Also that engine Mortske, Duff Dog , MOJO fire up sounds nice too and ready to go a vechile! Service up a lots things on vechiles too and help get apart or anything to in future Mortske!
Hey Mortske👋, thanks for the video. Cool old dodge truck. Definitely improved the exhaust noise. Thanks again for sharing and the look around at the salvage yard.
I don't understand how you can hate Cragar wheels but like lowered pickups
It's their generation.. it was always a California thing that the whole country didn't follow hit a few

That wheel likely took a hit at some time in its life and that’s what caused that ear to bend. I love the plate! 😂 Keep up the good work!
Good to know!
Very Nice!! And I’m not really a Mopar guy. Anyway, that Mojo he’s something else, give him some tools and an old engine and let him go! Thanks for the ride, looks like The Duff liked it too!
dang right!
You're really stepping er up with that there tire cam! Had a few barley pops. Sort of made me queazy. Just like riding the zipper back in the day!
my bad!
And Duffs at the wheel in the end, awesome.......👍👍👍
I should look that up
edit: sorry about all the comments this week, I am a fan of smart things and this seemed like a smart video..
interesting!
Guess you just need to learn how to drive.
Duff is protecting that door, you ain’t leaving without him… 😂
absolutely not!
one of your funniest! classic Mortske. cheers from new Zealand.
Our pleasure!
