      Also around 6:54 7:00 , you select the "first point" so root doesn't move when adjusting the curves to not overlaps or intersect each other. I had to slow down the video to see this. Although I still don't know how he is moving the points in a Brush like a manner? can you explain how you are adjusting?

    If anyone had a problem with the mesh deform at 8:00 like me despite your normals being fine and your cage completely surrounding all your hairs, try bump up your precision in the Mesh Deform modifier to 7, it takes a minute or so to calculate, but that's what fixed it for me.
    YMMV

      For me doesn't work anything. My normals are ok. I duplicate the plane. In edit mode , inside the duplicated plane, I extrude the vertex. then I select the eyebrows object and create modifier-mesh deform. After that I select the duplicated plane inside the field "Object".
      When I try to move the duplicated plane the eyebrows doesn't move. Where am I did wrong?

      Ive went back to this tutorial so many times. I still cant get it!!! Ugh. I made a Mesh deformer for the Ebrows to the Cage and its Not deforming the cage. ugh... I go into edit mode and nothing happened
      .

  • @dougalmeredith7754
    @dougalmeredith7754 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    For anyone else who got stuck on the mesh deformer part, I fixed it by making a new cube using that instead (after adding more edge loops to it). I don't know what was wrong with the original 'Cage', maybe it had somehting to do with coming from a plane, and I made sure that all the hairs were inside the original cage too. But the new cage which was not made from a plane works perfectly.

    For those who are having a problem when adding the mesh deform and finding that the mesh isn't moving with the cage, click on the cage and go into edit mode. On the top, you'll see "mesh" alongside the other buttons of the toolbar. Click that, scroll down until you see normals, and then click flip. Now, when you're going to add mesh deform onto the eyebrows and parent the cage, it will work!
    You should flip the normals for the "plane" too when adding the surface deform and parenting the plane. It should then move in edit mode

    If some of you have trouble with the mesh deform doesn't pick up the eyebrows, do this simple step..
    re-create the cage from cube, no extrude, just subdivide it by using ctrl+R and edit as you see fit, and then up the precision level like 8 or something in mesh deform modifier.
    Also copying it to new blend just to be safe, at least it worked for me.. Hope it helps!

    There is something missing here, lets say you have to animate the character and you will do it using 0 subdivisons or 1, to make it run real time, and your rigged your eyebrows using level 4 subdivision, it wont work because the poly count will change, to fix that I duplicated the Mesh deform modifier the number of levels my model have (when render, 6 subdivision) and I bind each one of those modifiers using the sub level just for that one, character mesh sub 1: mesh deform 1 bind, character mesh sub 2: mesh deform 2 bind, and so on, I hope it makes sense. Plus if youre using blender 2.9 youll have to make the CAGE mesh a little bigger so all the vertices are inside, if you just duplicate the controller and extrude it wont work, you have to move the face from behind the hair a little back, also the "select first" only will work if you made all the strokes in the same direction, lets say from rigth to left, if you made them from one side to the other the first and last gonna be different, I hope it makes sense guys, this is an awesome tut

    To all those who struggle with the mesh deform step at 8:00, use a lattice instead (you need to create a lattice mesh instead of the "cage" one and then link a lattice modifier to it the same way you would link a mesh deform as he shows in the vid.

    • @Hellayia
      @Hellayia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Edifieth in this specific workaround you should parent both objects (the lattice and the eyebrow mesh) as "object keep transform" and not lattice so that as you say it doesn't deform in a wonky way.
