    I appreciate a video that actually just answers the question it is supposed to, in solid detail. Picking up some plywood today, and this saved me some frowning.

    Nice job testing. Thanks. Personal experience has taught me Grand Caravan/Town n Country can take 4x8 sheets of plywood/sheetrock. Gen 3 and 4 anyway. Haven't tried newer or older. The ones I have tried didn't have "StownGo" seats either. Have also hauled 10' long pipe/conduit. Fits right up the middle, on the floor. Looks like GM "Missed it by that much." Thanks again for testing and sharing!

    it looks like 4ft wide exactly. plywood would scrape the sides... and you can't protect the sides with anything because that would take up needed space. Thanks for this. 4x8 sheets are on my list of wants in the next SUV I buy.

    so there is 4 feet between the wells? It fits flat. That all you need. Just tie down the tailgate. That is not a Fail. It's The ONLY Midsize suv that can do that. If it were a midsized pickup, only the Ridgeline can do that.

    Last time i needed a few sheets of plywood i carried my battery powered dewalt circular saw and cut a few inches off each one so the door would shut and my one big sexy ab wasn't smushed up on the steering wheel.

    I owned a Chevy Avalanche for years. Most people did not know that they would accommodate 4 by 8 sheets of plywood stack 10 high. With the tailgate closed. I used to laugh at all these other guys loading their trucks they couldn't believe what I was doing

    Not sure what you’re trying to prove here. This is a midsize suv, NOT a full size truck. And no vehicle can fit a 200feet plywood. You would have to put it up on top of the roof and strap it down. You may want to start adding a roof rack on top of your suv if you want to hauled longer material. It’s a family hauler vehicle, not a construction material hauler.

    Good review. Now add in another conundrum... REAL cabinet grade plywood (not sold at borgs) is 49” x 97” so that will not fit flat in a minivan and the hatch will not close and will have to be tied down
    and birch cabinet plywood is 60x60
    Such are sold at retailers that usually do not cut the plywood down for you. Some will do one cut to fit for hauling. So be prepared to bring a cordless saw to do your own cuts for hauling.

      *grabs tape measure* FOR SCIENCE!
      So nah, 97 inch ply will totally fit on length, with 2 inches to spare (2005 Dodge Caravan, no Stow n go). Width is tighter; within a quarter inch. A little wiggling and/or a couple degrees of angle will be needed. Maybe a couple blocks on one side of the bed to get the angle right without narfing the plywood sides.
      But if you need to get 20 pieces home, a minivan will do it, no sweat.
      Let’s see here... a squared plus b squared equals c squared, so a 48 inch floor with a square load space equals 67.8 inches of diagonal room. If you can get those 60x60 pieces through the hatch, they’ll fit. Maybe I’ll go measure that out later.

      @@insomniacryan9916 I have a 2012 GC and it won’t fit as well. I could make it work on the width as you mention but the length the hatch will not close without putting my chest against the steering wheel.
      I have 2012 Pilot too and it fits 49+ width easily, but have to tie the hatch down but it works. I used to have an E350. I miss that thing.

      @@dogwoodtales That's kind of sad about the 2012. Stow and go is aces, I get that, but there's apparently a trade off. I have never regretted having the bare floor, I also sleep in the back when camping in the summer.
      Caravan is only 15.6 feet long, too. Small van, big cargo. They just really got that generation right, which is why they are still absolutely everywhere.

    I would have left the hatch back up!
    I have hauled 12 ft 2×4s and all kinds of stuff hanging out of the back of my traxx!
    I even pulled a harbor freight 4×8 trailer about 25 miles and I don't have a hitch on mine I hooked the safety chains to the frame with padlocks and a piece of log chain and had a couple of ratchet straps going to the rear seat hooks the only damage was a pretty good scratch on the bottom of my bumper lol😂

    Fails imo. No padding space on the side and ridding on the console is a no go with the drivers seat that far forward. It will fit some 10' dimensional lumber...but really if you need to haul with this, use the 2" receiver and use a trailer for it.

    Got myself an old 2005 Dodge Caravan. Fits as much plywood as I feel inclined to load, but the whole vehicle is only 15.6 feet long.
    Traverse? 17 feet long, and it still doesn’t fit.
    Just buy a minivan. They are better at absolutely everything than crossovers.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except towing, ride, handling, resale value, and AWD capability. Yes two vans have AWD available but they are very basic systems and lack the ground clearance to make much use of it. Oh, and this Traverse is just 2 inches longer than a new Pacifica.
      Not saying crossovers are superior. Just that everybody has their own needs, and every vehicle has its pros and cons. There is nothing that is "absolutely better at everything".

      Lots of business owners that actually do work for a living need to haul an 8' sheet of plywood or 8' table. 8 feet has been a standard size for building materials for about 100 years. Granted soccer moms could give a rat's ass.

    So, you want a piece of plywood to fit in a vehicle built and designed around the female gender? Last I checked, nothing in the mid-size SUV range fits a 4x8. Step it up to a Suburban. Or, just grow yourself a pair and get a truck like a real man, or learn how to install a tow hitch and tow it home on a 4x8 trailer. Why do I have a feeling this is the first and only time you'll ever 'haul' a piece of plywood?

    • @eiremerald
      @eiremerald 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Because we "females" have absolutely no need to buy plywood and masculinity is defined by what vehicle you drive. Good to know.

    • @reflector36
      @reflector36 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      How is a traverse built around the female gender? The traverse is in my price range and size im looking for. Occasionally like to pick up plywood without having to borrow a truck, have it delivered or cut in store, so for me the fact that it can work is a nice to know. If they are advertising it as fitting, clearly this shows that there should be an asterisk in there.

    • @joshyak1

      Ironically, a minivan is the best vehicle to haul plywood. It sits totally flat, doesn't stick out, and doesn't get wet. Mr. Alpha here doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

      Traverse was certainly designed more towards women, but the midnight and redline packages as well as the RS definitely are marketing to men. Nothing wrong with that, secure men aren't bothered either way so long as it meets their needs. Suburbans run 20-30K more and I definitely see more women than men driving those as well. If you want to go down that road, men tend to prefer pickups.
