    I have 2009 traverse with 182k miles. It's been a reliable vehicle for our family for the last 15 years . Daily driver and our vacation vehicle.Just regular maintenance, oil change every 5k miles . Still looks good and still runs strong like the first day we got it.

    Yea have a 2017 Chevy traverse and I have not had any major problems. Only a wheel alignment and light bulb change. Got it with 40,000 miles on it. All I have to do now is replace tires. I’ve had it over a year. It drives great.

    My 2011 Traverse has 240k on it. It still has the original engine and transmission. I’ve replaced the front struts, water pump, camshaft sensors, VVT solenoids, and catalytic converters. I do 10,000 mile oil changes with synthetic oil and Lucas oil stabilizer. I never have to add oil between changes. Considering the horror stories that I hear from other traverse owners, I feel like we’ve been blessed with a pretty reliable vehicle. I never expected to get this much service life out of it.

    Just bought 2014 Traverse AWD in August, 2022 for $21.5K. About 108k miles, suddenly my wife says she can’t go over 25 mph. I immediately think to myself “Drivetrain.” Thank God we put $5000 down to qualify for the 3yr warranty for transmission and engine replacement in the event of failure. I’m already very sketch about this damn vehicle with such a few miles. UPDATE: mechanic says he can’t find anything wrong with it!! Then we get it back and break down again. Now it’s BACK in the shop

    Wish my dealer watched this before replacing my purge valve. Problem remained, they said there was a valve at the tank and it would be really expensive to replace.
    I wasn’t driving the car much, so I thought maybe the valve gummed up from aging gas. Put in two bottles of Techron in a full tank and took a 200 mile round trip over a weekend. No problems since, that was 3 years and 30k miles ago.

    We had to have our transmission rebuilt and replace the purge valve. We did find that for certain years of the Traverse, the purge valve is under recall so our purge was covered. Transmission also had the issue shifting before 60k miles so it was covered under warranty.

    Forgot the main problem with the Travers/Enclave/Acadia - the POS 3.6L V6 and its need to have absolutely perfect oil condition and level at all times unless you want to replace timing chains. Seriously, if you have one of these behemoth piles of junk check your oil level at least every other week and don't follow the maintenance guide on oil changes - change the oil every 3-5k (depending on driving style). The 3.6L is too small of an engine for the weight of these and any stress will cause timing chain stretch and premature timing chain failure

    • @neustkg
      @neustkg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I have a 2011 Traverse. Has 215k miles. I'm pretty happy with it. But I agree, you do need to watch the oil level and use full synthetic oil (I like Penzoil Platinum) and a very good oil filter.

    From a Traverse Form…
    I have a 2012 Traverse that started using oil about a quart every 1000 miles. I removed the air tube from the filter to the throttle. Oil was inside. 2012 doesn’t have a PCV valve, just a metal unit with small inlet hole and two small exit holes. This plugged and pressurized the engine and oil was pushed into the intake. I replaced this can and increased hole sizes almost double. Stopped my oil consumption. I don’t know if the 2019 has the same. Check for oil in the air intake, if it’s there, probably the positive crankcase tube is plugged. I also spray a little cleaner into the rube to this every oil change.

    • @jamesmadison9244
      @jamesmadison9244 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Exactly! This tiny breather valve is the cause of excess oil consumption, gummed throttle body causing stabilitrak problems, timing chain issues and gummed valves. I can’t believe this has not been fixed with a recall.

    I've had 2 issues with my wife's 2017 Traverse. She went over the service life on the transmission fluid and it started to slip. Changed the fluid and filter and did a flush, reset the shifting on the TCM and it fixed the problem. Problem #2 was the engine coolant temp sensor. It is right next to the front exhaust manifold. It made the ac stop working, too. When i squeezed the electrical plug to disconnect from the sensor it disintegrated in my hand and I had to replace that too. The pigtail was triple the cost of the sensor. Ridiculous!

    TCM can also cause transportation problems. I had 2010 no wave plate issue but would go into limp mode 2 to 3 times a week . Go to park and back to drive would fix issue. Found out Transmission control module was not allowing enough fluid to flow into transmission at certain points which would caused the problem replaced TCM never had another problem was not the wave played issue did tons of research

    2012 Traverse: Ive got the front struts, transmission slipping hard, and difficult to open rear hatch arms. Sometimes the engine sounds like it's skipping a beat when in third gear. Also, Rear AC lines I have found to also be a common issue on forums. There is a plastic coolant line bracket on the back of the engine that breaks, allowing the coolant line to rub against the Rear AC high pressure line and blow it out. Aftermarket AC lines from AutoCoolingSolutions and $400 labor got mine fixed. But then the lines to the condenser blew out on the drive home from the shop that very same day. I wont be getting a Traverse ever again, it seems that everything is failing all at once at 115k miles

      It’s only a matter of time when things start failing. Usually takes about 2 years. These suvs will nickel and dime you. Worst car made I’ve been told by numerous people and my 2 personal mechanics. One said hurry up and get rid of this car. An alternator is like $600 to get fixed. Struts are $300 for both. The motor mounts are like $100 or more each. Surprisingly my area is known To sell these ALOT. When my car stopped the first thing the tow truck guy said was” this is a bad car” I’m like ugh I’ve been told. Recommendation..save your $$$ for the just in case bc it will happen.

    Our 2010 Chevy Traverse is a serious oil burner (we need to check it twice a month or it may go below minimum). It seems to be a very common issue on the direct-injected engines (the PCV seems to be designed for the much lower pressures of indirect fuel injection), which also wears out the timing chain prematurely (ours ended up needing replaced, even with us filling the oil regularly; it passed the point of no return). Another issue seems to be the headlights--we replaced both low beam bulbs last year, and one of them is burnt out again (and no, we did not touch the bulb shell).

    I have a 2017 Traverse and it’s been a great car with minor issues, however I wish we knew sooner about the master switch!
    Most cars can be reliable if you drive conservatively and gently and this car is an example of that. Our car is at 130k+ miles and we haven’t had a single engine problem, just routine stuff.

    How did the AC issues not make the list? I have a 2011 that had only 124k when I got it a year ago. Tons of talk but no real answer to the root of the questions issue. The steering knuckle also leaks and gets dry causing an annoying clunk when turning back to center. Both very common.

    I have a 2011 Chevy Traverse and the exhaust system had to be changed the whole Cat converter twice in 2 years. I didn't know these things went bad and the second time the engine light didn't come on the emission station told me and once i had that fit it is now giving me a failed emission again but no engine light is coming on. What can I do to fix this problem. And I don't have $5,000 to change it again. Please help me

    That was presented well and very informative. I've also had my struts replaced, the AC lines replaced and the master power control switch replaced. Now the check engine light along with stability traction / no park assist comes on while I'm driving my 2011 Traverse and it looses power. What could that be?

    I have a 2017 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE LT AWD with 130k miles on it, that has several sporadic issues with no check engine lights. Occasionally, when accelerating, especially at higher speeds to get on the freeway, shifting from fourth or fifth gear I get a loud grinding noise. Also occasionally when I accelerate the car has a shudder from 35-40 mph. As for braking, occasionally the car will shake (visibly noticeable as the steering wheel shakes) but it is not constant and there is no brake noise. While driving the car seems to have an issue with possible misfires or bad gasoline I don’t know which but occasionally as you drive down the road you’ll feel the engine sort of shudder. You don’t lose any power or anything there is just a random little shimmy every once in a while. Again no check engine lights and when I take it to the dealer they can’t get the car to replicate the issues.

Of course I also get the service Stabilitrak message. reduced engine power then pressing the accelerator have no effect. I was recently forced to jump a curb. But if the tone ring damaged wouldn't I get the ABS light?

    I have a 2010 Chevy traverse I have a valve that One valve is snapping rocker arms the rest of the engine moves and tries to start what can I put inside the valve through the spark plug to be able to loosen it up to where it will start. I also have one of the sensors that’s over by the timing chain that came apart and the sensor part is still stuck in the engine hole how would I get it out? Is there a way of unsticking the valve Without tearing it apart.

    I bought a 2011 Chevy Traverse. My power steering went out. I had the power steering pump replacement but now it’s still really stiff. I went back to my mechanic and they told me my rack and pinion have gone bad as well. Also, most recently my brake light turns on but it doesn’t stay on long. I’ve checked the brake fluid reservoir and it’s full.

At the window control sensor problem with the one that's getting me is I just changed the battery in my vehicle and the AC stopped working. Now I've gone through the fuses and have trouble shot that all is good but where is the AC microprocessor? How do I reset that?

    So I have been riding around with the check engine light on for 3 christmas leason well on 5/31/21 the car was struggling with a ruff idle and no get up and go.
    I take it to get code pulled and came back with the P0018 P0019 P0018 P0019
    I'm in tears because that code is very bad and expensive. I remembered that I bought the perge solenoid back when the check engine light came on. So I watched more TH-cam videos and decided it can't hurt to try.
    I would also like to add that my solenoid was not sucking air.My husband said no way, I said please try it bla bla bla.
    Well here I am just came back from a one mile ride quiet running no stubble.
    no shifting ruffle No check engine light.
    I came back on TH-cam checking my go to guys for locations and problems people have with this awesome SUV
    because my car had really started running ruff.
