    After such a successful run with the first generation, Chevrolet gives the popular Traverse crossover a full redo for 2018. Key highlights include way more technology, improved fuel economy, even more space, and a massive weight reduction of nearly 400 pounds. It all adds to one seriously practical family SUV with more room versus a lot of key competitors. Just be cautious on the options list otherwise the price will creep up into luxury SUV levels.

    I work at a Chevy dealer: this is easily my favorite car we sell to go about driving in. It's very comfy, the interior just "feels right" for lack of a better way of explaining it (fits like a glove when you sit in it), the visibility is very good, the materials feel nice, the third row isn't useless, the road noise is almost nill. The car feels smaller than it actually is so maneuvering it in the city doesn't feel cumbersome.
    This really is a good car. Don't go for the High Country trim though. The Premier offers everything 99% of the buying population would ever want.

    • @nathanyoung8284
      @nathanyoung8284 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      None. We don't get information before the public does about new models. We learned about the mid-engine Corvette when y'all did :)
      Judging by spy shots online it's still body-on-frame and probably using the same underbody stuff from the Silverado, like previous Tahoes and Burbs.

      @Nathan Young I totally agree, plus the High Country doesn't offer a 2nd row bench, forcing someone like me with a family of 5 to have to use the 3rd row AT ALL TIMES, limiting my cargo capacity. Captain's chairs are SO overrated!

      Yes, I agree with everything you said. We bought the Premier because it has pretty much everything the High Country has, without the ugly brown seats.
      We our so happy with it. Everything you said is true. It's such a nice, comfy ride. I was always fidgeting when I drove the old Traverse, but this one is just right!

    Just bought a 2020 High Country Traverse. Shopped hard. Need all the room . "Need" all the creature comforts & impressed with the twin clutch AWD & the self crashing (modern AI safety) features. Best hidden trailer hitch. Airbag between the driver & front passenger. Got the all weather floor mats. Total home run.

    One thing I really like about Sofyan is that he actually goes through the trouble of getting in the third row and showing us what it's like. Small kids won't always be small kids and surely there will be some occasions when I'll have to put adults in the third row.

    Have had this for a year now. Averaging 22 combined with as high as 29 on highway for sustained driving, which is great mileage for a car this big. Only major gripe is the lack of an 8 passenger option on the higher trims (WHY?!?!). Excellent thus far and serves our purpose extremely well!

    $54 grand is what a base model rear drive tahoe costs and their third row is useless, so this doesn't seem like a bad price at all.

    Very nice review of this long awaited upgraded Traverse. Everything is superior to the previous model, not as large an upgrade from one generation to the next as the 2013 Chevy Impala to the 2014.5 Chevy Impala, but still rather welcomed. You definitely hit on some good points Soyfan. I am sure that you know that the overall length of the Traverse is the exact same as the Tahoe at 204 inches, it just isn't as tall nor is it a body on frame truck based vehicle like the Tahoe. So if someone wanted a Mini Tahoe minus a few things like the 3k lbs more the Tahoe can tow, the 4x4 system, and the extra height go for the Traverse which is much less money when comparing new ones with similar equipment. Yes CPO Tahoes with low miles that are loaded can be found in the 50k range. The Traverse actually has much more behind the 3rd row seat space than the Tahoe (which isn't difficult to do), and with the 2nd and 3rd row down it has about the same space as a short box Silverado 1500 does in the bed.
    Just like you I would recommend the LT leather trim for the best all around value with this vehicle. I also like the tech upgrades like the 360 camera, and the rearview camera in the mirror, etc... I do agree with you on the word Traverse being too high, I would either remove it completely or if I could do it well enough move it down much further on the door if I ever got one, when I start a family.

Also taken plenty of road trips and can't complain. Which I love my '18 BMW suv, the utility of these and the size come in handy.

    “Better than that Buick LaCrosse I reviewed last week” is a bit troubling to hear. This seems like a Honda vs previous generation Acura’s situation; mainstream feels better. I just prefer the interior of this car more, even if the dash area is a little disappointing. The rear looks better too. This car is just more desirable. Keep up the good work Sofyan

    Having driven the 2018 Traverse a lot, I can say this is a fantastic vehicle. Cargo room is great, third row is totally usable, and the fit and finish is great overall. Super comfortable car. The Traverse has enough features in the premier edition to keep everyone happy. If you have a larger family, this is a great choice. MPG is the only downside.

    I was shopping for a large three row crossover. This vehicle was tops on my list. Until I realized that it doesn’t have a power sunshade for the non panoramic sunroof. Then I realized how subpar certain parts of the interior are. Specifically the dash and gauges. Ended up purchasing VW Atlas SEL premium. It’s amazing. Punches above its class.

    Sofyan - in some cars, such as the Dodge Challenger, you have to press and hold the button to start the ignition, whereas in others, you just have to press it once. Would you be able to clarify this aspect in future videos? I can't help but wonder every time you say '...push the button to fire up the engine' which one you are doing. Thank you.

    My husband has the 2018 LT in the garage right now. It really is a phenomenal vehicle. It has power, not as much as a Silverado, but having owned a 2500HD in the past, the immediate power upon hitting the gas pedal is similar. Those tires will squeal. It handles quite well. Not quite an Equinox (we have a 2017), but not quite a Silverado. It has a tremendous amount of interior space, measures out to more then a Tahoe, yet the lower height allows for it to fit in small garages like ours. The gas mileage is good, especially considering it is a large SUV, it handles winter weather like a breeze. It is comfortable for long road trips with plenty of room for luggage, strollers, beach gear or just about anything else you need for a family vacation. The negatives I would say it has, the seats aren’t as comfy as my 2017 Equinox (or even the 2018 Equinox as we rented one of those while in Arizona), but with all of the possibilities for adjustments, you can solve that. I just prefer the side lips on the 2017 Equinox seat. The other negative, you can definitely feel the weight when breaking, but really that is to be expected with a vehicle of this size and it is similar to the 2500HD pick up we used to have. Overall, we love this vehicle, and would recommend it.

    My 2020 Traverse, Premier trim, does NOT have a USB port in that hidden compartment behind the infotainment screen??? Also, not sure of the '19 and lower, but on my 2020 model when the info screen is raised, when you put it in reverse it closes automatically which is definitely a flaw to me. It's got some quirks, but all in all it's not a bad family car thus far.

    21:06 Now thats what I am talking about. A simple compartment design. I've noticed over time that when an automobile is built with so much crap under the hood where you can't see the ground pass the motor, they tend to breakdown more. This is a simple layout where you can just stick a wrench somewhere to change a minor part without taking it to a shop and damn near take apart half of the assembly to get to a minor fix. This is genius.

    Hi there. I drive a 2018 traverse LT. Prior to that I drove the 2012 traverse 2LT. I was kind of disappointed when Chevy took out the 2LT in the 2018 models. Both cars were really good to me, no breakdowns, had some electrical issues with the 2012. But I am growing to be a Chevy girl through and through. I love how it drives, how much stuff I can carry. Plus it is a great traveling vehicle. I even named my vehicles. I don't think I'll ever buy any other make. I like the familiar, no financial surprises that breaks my bank.

    The Traverse is what most folks could use when they really want the Tahoe/Yukon - and for 25K less. The High Country, while around 54K, is heavily discounted. I've seen them for 9-10K off.

    I got this high country and honestly, considering my family size (4 and will soon be 5), this is the best family size SUV and best alternative to vans for van haters like me. It does looks nicer when you're physically in/looking at it. My only problem with it is that the lane keep assist does not have an audible alert like in toyotas.

    • @darienmiller1032
      @darienmiller1032 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Out of curiosity, what do you hate vans so much? In my eyes, there is no "true" van alternative"unless it can deliver the same amount of amount of utility as a van personally. They're the ultimate hauler/people carriers on the planet, it's a shame that such a silly stigma are driving them to extinction. The newer ones look really nice too, most notably the pacifica and Sedona, which I think look nicer than the Traverse. To each their own I guess.
      Take a look at the 2021 Kia Sedona at the very least, minivans today are a far from what they used to be stylistically speaking:

    Have always wanted to ask you if I may, in regards to chevrolet Vehicles, would you happen to know the reason why Chevrolet did away with the Famous RED bowtie and went with the current Yellow one as it is now, when they had the RED Bowtie, they always had a slogan that went along with it, Beware of the RED Bowtie.........also somthing that SHOULD be added in the those touch screens that pretty much ALL new vehicles have nowdays along with the already Included apps should be Gasbuddy, its actually a pretty good app if you dont know where the next nearest station might be and how much their gas prices actually are.....
