  • The ALL NEW Corolla Cross is here and Toyota wants it to be more than just a lifted hatchback for 2022. On the outside of the base L trim you will find a flat black grill, 16in steel wheels w/ hubcaps, and LED headlights. On the inside you will be greeted by cloth seating, 7in infotainment system and analog gauges. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 producing 169HP & mated to a CVT. Is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross L a better SUV than a Subaru Crosstrek?

      I’ve resisted buying an suv because I live in an urban area. However, I’ll definitely considered the Corolla Cross once a hybrid is introduced. The Corolla Cross maybe my Goldilocks car: not too big, not too small, but just right!

    • @smashbro5
      @smashbro5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never been either, mainly because of the size of SUVs like the RAV4 (and competitors) and the corresponding hit to fuel economy. But the subcompact SUV segment is sort of a nice balance- smaller, but still get some benefits of the SUV form factor like taller ride height, suspension travel, and storage capacity compared to a sedan or smaller hatchback.

    I just bought the LE Corolla Cross :). It's the first car I'm buying myself. I live in Canada and AWD is practically a must. I tested the RAV4, but it felt a little too big, since I'm used to driving a small car. The Corolla Cross has everything that I need. I'm not a guy who cares about speed, rather I'm more about function (saving gas, AWD, space, etc), and this has all that I need. Unfortunately, my car won't be arriving until like February, can't wait!

    I have recently purchased the 2022 Corolla Cross L FWD (Sonic Silver). If I don't write a review, that will be injustice to this excellent vehicle. Due to this chip shortage, I had to preorder it, before even seeing or test driving it. I was looking into the TH-cam videos to have some idea. My concerns were: 1. FWD rear wheel torsion beam suspension: I have driven CRV multilink and corolla cross torsion beam one after another. I was not able to notice the difference. Torsion beam was noticeable in 11th generation corolla sedan, which is not in Corolla cross. May be there is some change in construction of the suspension. 2. Rear seat legroom: It looks to me perfect. 3. Visibility: Excellent visibility. 4. Cargo space: Perfect should be the word. 5. Exterior: This is one of the beautiful Toyota I should say. 6. Cabin air noise: Driven a 2022 Corolla sedan and Cross one after another. Cabin air noise level is same as corolla sedan. 7. Tire/ Road noise: Same or less compared to corolla sedan. 8. Engine noise inside the cabin: Corolla cross uses a 2.0 L naturally aspirated engine which is used in corolla hatchbacks. This engine can be loud naturally at certain RPMs. So engine noise at certain RPM inside the cabin can be high. But it looks to me OKAY. Lets see how long it can last!

    I've always appreciated -- and envied -- the fact that you can somewhat customize your vehicles in the US and Europe when buying off the dealer. Not the case here in Mexico where, if you want to get the AWD, you can only get it by going to the highest and most expensive trim. You always get stuck with the lowest features if you want an entry level trim.

    I drive a 2014 Corolla S Plus, MSRP about 20k. Keeping those familiar, easy to use, reliable corolla aspects, but totally upgraded, even at the lowest trim. Almost the same MPG as my compact sedan! This is fantastic value for folks like me looking to move up to a crossover. Thanks Joe and Lori!

      The mpg for the corolla cross is identical to the matrix which is ok but not the best. The sedan version has way better mileage its night and day compared to cross

    I will always prefer a regular old fashioned start key. Less complicated and one less thing to break over time.

    I feel like I'm listening to a shamwow commercial lol! Lots of enthusiasm. Personal opinion... Crosstrek looks like a much cleaner vehicle and it's a proven platform, plus better fuel milage with AWD makes it a winner in my books. I'll be looking forward for some off-road comparison reviews coming out in the next few months, because you can't truly compare to the Crosstrek without taking it out to the wild.

    Two things you rarely cover in almost every review. First where is the catalytic converter located. Prius is the prime target for catalytic theft. What about all other toyota.. second, tell us about the sunroof. For driver that like open air experience or claustrophobic ppl. The sunroof and side windows are such important. So. Catalytic converter, sunroof… and by the way, the cross will have hybrid trim in 2023-24

    The only thing I don't like is that sideways muffler that is sticking out low.. Great video, and the low average trims are what most consumers purchase. Best from Montreal

    I’m thinking about getting one of these for myself. I really don’t care about hub caps because I would get some off-road wheels and tire for this thing and maybe even lift it a bit. I think it would look sick with some off-road touches
