I usually can't just sit mine down and have it seated correctly on the first try, but the longest its taken to get it fitted correctly is about 3 seconds. Sometimes you might have to slightly adjust one or the ear cups but it's nowhere near painful and barely rates to be called an inconvenience. The led also let's you know if it isn't seated correctly

I need to upgrade. I’m currently on the Generation 3 for the PS4, but just today the stopped working. They won’t turn on and the left side where the microphone is located is getting hot. I need help regarding this situation, if not I might as well go ahead and upgrade
I have the PS4 A50 2019 version right next to me. It looks identical to to what you have. I use it on my PC though and it is also hooked up via the optical line. Sound is pretty amazing. Honestly, I don't know how I ended up on your video, but I am glad I did.

I bought these on release day. Yes they are a bit pricey, but please believe and trust me, they are absolutely worth every penny. You can hear every single thing. And foot steps are amazing for fps. It's almost like cheating lol.
I had gen 2 and 3 as well as the arctis pro and thought I had an advantage for years before getting real open back headphones. It was like going from 720p to 4K lol. My k/d in every fps easily doubled. Astros are barely a step up from turtle beach imo. They have muddy bass and are seriously missing detail in the high end. Comfy though and not terrible for wireless. They should be about 100$ less though.
According to Rtings there really is no difference at all when it comes to sound quality. Sadly I won't be going for these then. Expected a lot more from gen 3 after all that praise.
Obviously an old post. But I have the gen 3 and gen 4. As much as I loved the gen 3s. The gen 4 are better in every way. Brighter, crisper and better response in mids and Lows.
Worth noting that is uses a 2.4ghz channel instead of a 5ghz channel like the gen 3. This should prevent the audio cut outs that the previous generation was notorious for.
Even though your comment is old, I don't know what to tell you about this... I've replaced my A50s Gen4 four times because of the audio cut outs they had... Still no luck T_T So it seems that the problem is still with Gen4... Maybe a little less often, but it is present.
I just bought the gen 4 and I'm so disappointed and honestly I'm about to return them I cant hear anything! I have been messing with the command center and trying to figure this out nothing is working help please
Michael Bopp Hm, interesting these seem to have 50/50 reviews. Tons of reports of too quiet, but also tons saying just fine.. seems like it could be a software issue OR hardware defect.
You can check the difference by clicking the other videos and hearing them for yourself. The difference is negligible if there is any. I think they have adjusted the noise cancellation settings but otherwise it's roughly the same.
You really only talked about the physical differences but what about operational? The biggest fix I wanna know about is did they fix the connectivity issues? By those I mean where the sound constantly goes in and out due to interference. Both my wife and I have the Gen 3’s and we both have this issue so it’s not a coincidence. Also on that note, I had mine several months before I bought hers and I had those issues just as much before I bought hers as I did after
I never experienced those problems with either generation. Nor was I aware of them until people started mentioning them. I can only go on my personal experience.
The Provoked Prawn yea I’ve heard it’s hit or miss but I was hoping they would fix that problem altogether for those that have the issue. From what I’ve heard, most people seem to have the issue after the software update. My wife says as long as she is within about 3 feet from the docking station the issue is nonexistent but beyond that it occasionally has issues where it constantly cuts in and out. Also there is an issue where once you power down your Xbox you have to cut the power off and on to get your headset to register when you start the Xbox. I’ve read reviews of these problems and I’ve personally experienced them but other than that it’s probably the best headset on the market
BeauDawg901 sound cutting out is 100% a problem .. It drove me nuts... but u can fix it easily something in the room is also giving off a blue tooth signal or bandwidth that is interfering with the headset signal .. most likely your internet router... move your router further away or move the headset base station ... if I have the base station on top of my PC it cuts out for a few seconds non stop .. I move the base station 6 inches away behind my monitor so the monitor is blocking it and it never cuts out .. hope this helps
gen 3 is louder much louder im glad i did not trade mine in. I paid for the gen 4 out of pocket to try first i can listen to these at max volume without having to turn them down the only thing better is the base station and the headset is lighter but it feels cheap buy the gen 3 199 amazon or best buy
Absolutely agree,I feel like the gen 4 is all a big gimmick I too purchased the gen 4's to try out and there's absolutely no major sound differences, all I've noticed with the gen 4 is issue's....that whole "we are using our new v2 sound" is straight bullshit...if they did put new speakers or drivers in you cant tell any difference,its like if a company says they did all this new shit and get enough people brainwashed into thinking it sounds better than it worked right?
I liked the headset but I returned them because it sounds like my audio was in a cathedral hallway. I tweaked with the audio equalizer for days and nothing smhhh…. I really had high hopes for the headset but its a no go for me. Not to mention the connection issues when connecting the headset to the computer from a docked to undocked state.
Paul Morgan same! Sounded like I was in a hallway of an abandoned school or something. I decided to return them just like you because of that. I currently use A40 TR and I feel like the sound on them has a more close up and personal feel to them.
You didn't mention the wireless performance in the latest gen. Has it improved at all? The most frustrating thing for me with the previous gen is I cant even leave the room without the audio chopping out and dieing. No chance of making a brew ans carrying on conversation. Any improvements there?
I haven't had that issue with either version tbh. it's going to vary wildly as well because of things like the makeup of your home, your walls, the Wi-Fi signal and interference from other devices. I'd imagine,based on what other people have said, you'd have the same problems.

@@jameshampsonuk connection drops after about 3 rooms for me, but that's past the Wi-Fi router, and multiple concrete walls. I'm not really that bothered buy clearly it matters to you. Perhaps something like the Arctis Pro Wireless might be a good alternative as that has Bluetooth as well as Wireless connectivity.
Yes you can still buy the Green & gray version. I know because I just bought a brand new green & gray version for XBOX today (September 30, 2019) at GameStop & they have plenty more to sell.
@Milad Meah It didn't matter to me that it was a Gen 3, but, It turned out to be a piece of crap. It wouldn't sync, it wouldn't accept the Firmware update & then it just died. Luckily the people at the GameStop I always shop at had no problem giving me a full refund & since they didn't have the Gen 4 they found out who did & I now have the Gen 4 which works great, but, I hate the color. Next time I will check Google because if I had I would have known about all the issues people were having with the XBOX ONE Gen 3 & I wouldn't have wasted my time with it especially the 2 hours I spent with Tech Support.
Cant say about gen 4 but I have a gen 3 xbox version and can confirm it DOES work with ps4. You just have to switch it to PC beforehand. However you lose the microphone, so really only for immersion. Dont think the ps4 version does the same with am xbox. I'm curious, can the gen 4 xbox version do the same?

Alas I don't have the Gen 3 to directly compare any more. But I didn't notice any significant difference in the headband size. I suspect it's the same.

I would like to use it on PC must i only connect the dock station via USB to the PC, or have i to do something else and then does the microphone function?
So for the Dolby button, is the headset or star logo that lights up the “on” switch? I know if I run Atmos, I need to turn off Dolby surround and vice versa.
If they had a slider on the side for changing between voice and game sound quickly like the mix amp I would definitely grab it. Buttons aren’t quick enough.
SilentPalmolive The button for game chat or party chat are pretty good...You can go from full party(players chat)to game chat in seconds well at least once you get used to it...
I just got my gen 4 3 days ago. Worth every penny. But what does the dolby actually do and what's with number 1 2 or 3. Plus sometimes I press the voice button and turn the wheel and it ups my game volume. I had a good set up the other day for siege I could hear people running above me. But then I changed it and can't remember how I have it. Does the gen 4 not have Bluetooth?
So many questions! Dolby is for Dolby's virtual audio. 1, 2 and 3 are EQ profiles you can tweak in Astro command centre. You're using voice and game wrong. You have to keep pressing the voice button. Push that repeatedly and it'll turn up your friends. No. No Bluetooth.
@@TheProvokedPrawn @AlbertikoGraciaYT you can also buy the ps4 base station to work with the xbox headset and have the one headset for both consoles. i have done this with the gen 3 so my single green xbox headset also works on the ps4 with full audio and mic, all you need to do is put the headset onto the base station you want to use for 10 seconds to let it sinc up and you then get audio from that base station.

Flip to mute mic will fail after a while On Xbox base station will require reset every time you power down the console Side tone will reset every reset Mod kit will take weeks to ship as there’s a warehouse/shipping problems Astro claim base is much improved not the case,haven’t noticed less wiggling when docking to get charge connection Dolby atmos issues If you update from shipped firmware your stuffed.

I only have a xbox one x with dobly atmos loving my rig 800xl which I trade my old green astro a50 wireless for at best buy. I only remember not being able to update my headset and dolby atmos improving sound
The gen 3 ps4 version looks better than the gen 3 xbox version and both gen 4 version. Its blue and black. With the gen 4 ps4 version, instead of gold its silver and thats the only difference. With the ps4 gen 3 thats not a ton of blue like the Xbox version has a ton of that bright green. Do like the smaller base of the gen 4 though. I'll use the gen 3 for ps5 for I'll definitely upgrade my a40 for my series x.

@@redburn1990 well, it depends if you're using on console or pc? Because on PC they're great. Fantastic sound, good surround sound, excellent comfort. Buy on console people are complaining they're too quiet and keep disconnecting from Xbox when you turn it off. However it's a firmware issue so should be fixable.

Yes I’ve updated the firmware for both the headset and base station , the headphones are brand new and they worked on chat audio for one day and then the next day I couldn’t hear any sound sound so I switched to all audio and I could hear but I don’t like that because I can’t control the voice volume
I don't know if I'd trust buying this. When I got the gen 3's it surround sound was absolutely atrocious compared to my gen 2's. Anyone else had this issue?
Yeah, I had tons of problems with my Gen 3. Also the fact it wouldn't fit properly back on the base station for a charge. The sound would always cut off for me to at different times. At this point I was on the verge on upgrading to the 4th but I got my eyes open for other headsets.
@@TheProvokedPrawn it's supposed to do something with interference over certain frequency on WiFi but I have never found a fix for it and have had to live with it since purchase 😒

Moving from that headset you'll be blown away. I like Corsair products but the Void isn't amazing. The A50 is much more comfortable and capable.

Perhaps something like the Arctis Pro Wireless might be a good alternative as that has Bluetooth as well as Wireless connectivity.

Yes you can still buy the Green & gray version. I know because I just bought a brand new green & gray version for XBOX today (September 30, 2019) at GameStop & they have plenty more to sell.
@Milad Meah It didn't matter to me that it was a Gen 3, but, It turned out to be a piece of crap.
It wouldn't sync, it wouldn't accept the Firmware update & then it just died.
Luckily the people at the GameStop I always shop at had no problem giving me a full refund & since they didn't have the Gen 4 they found out who did & I now have the Gen 4 which works great, but, I hate the color.
Next time I will check Google because if I had I would have known about all the issues people were having with the XBOX ONE Gen 3 & I wouldn't have wasted my time with it especially the 2 hours I spent with Tech Support.
Cant say about gen 4 but I have a gen 3 xbox version and can confirm it DOES work with ps4. You just have to switch it to PC beforehand. However you lose the microphone, so really only for immersion. Dont think the ps4 version does the same with am xbox. I'm curious, can the gen 4 xbox version do the same?
My old xbox one astro a40 tr worked with the ps4 in pc mode aswell and mic worked aswell

I can't say as I don't use them on console. I've heard plenty of complaints from console users though.

Gen 4 is way easier to dock and thus charge that alone is worth the upgrade in my opinion

Hey mate, any chance you could let me know how the docking station performs charging the headset with Gen 4? I have to keep moving the Gen 3 in the dock for up to five minutes sometimes to get it to start charging
Not had that problem. It docks easily and without hassle in my experience
Same struggle here, besides from that it's a really nice headset imo, I've started using a cable to charge my headset

Alas I don't have the Gen 3 to directly compare any more. But I didn't notice any significant difference in the headband size. I suspect it's the same.
My gen 3s constantly cut in and out. Great sound but they just are to buggy to recomend
Apparently that's to do with the bandwidth and interference from other devices. Something I didn't experience with either.
I have the Gen 3 Astro A50s and am having the exact same issue consistently - haven't found a solution and it doesn't appear to be coming from other device's interference. dragoon218, have you replaced yours (and what with, if so)?
@@briannabyrd4283 you need to turn off the 5g network in your house, i had the same issue for years with my headset and once I turned the 5g band on my wifi off it hasnt happened again and my headset works about twice as far

I read that the Gen 4 has a lifetime Dolby Atmos license. Wonder if that's true.

USB to the dock from your PC. Simple.
So for the Dolby button, is the headset or star logo that lights up the “on” switch? I know if I run Atmos, I need to turn off Dolby surround and vice versa.
The dolby button either turns that on or switches to the Astro audio. Then the EQ button changes profiles.
If they had a slider on the side for changing between voice and game sound quickly like the mix amp I would definitely grab it. Buttons aren’t quick enough.
SilentPalmolive The button for game chat or party chat are pretty good...You can go from full party(players chat)to game chat in seconds well at least once you get used to it...

I just got my gen 4 3 days ago. Worth every penny. But what does the dolby actually do and what's with number 1 2 or 3. Plus sometimes I press the voice button and turn the wheel and it ups my game volume. I had a good set up the other day for siege I could hear people running above me. But then I changed it and can't remember how I have it. Does the gen 4 not have Bluetooth?
So many questions! Dolby is for Dolby's virtual audio. 1, 2 and 3 are EQ profiles you can tweak in Astro command centre. You're using voice and game wrong. You have to keep pressing the voice button. Push that repeatedly and it'll turn up your friends. No. No Bluetooth.

Yes. Both editions work with PC and the respective console. I. E. If you get the Xbox one it will work with Xbox and pc.
@@TheProvokedPrawn @AlbertikoGraciaYT you can also buy the ps4 base station to work with the xbox headset and have the one headset for both consoles. i have done this with the gen 3 so my single green xbox headset also works on the ps4 with full audio and mic, all you need to do is put the headset onto the base station you want to use for 10 seconds to let it sinc up and you then get audio from that base station.

Read the comments, it's a common complaint from console users and something Astro is aware of and working on a firmware update to fix soon.

The gen 3 ps4 version looks better than the gen 3 xbox version and both gen 4 version. Its blue and black. With the gen 4 ps4 version, instead of gold its silver and thats the only difference. With the ps4 gen 3 thats not a ton of blue like the Xbox version has a ton of that bright green. Do like the smaller base of the gen 4 though. I'll use the gen 3 for ps5 for I'll definitely upgrade my a40 for my series x.

The gen 4 is very loud. I use them on xbox one x. Plenty of sound range. People that say they are too quiet must not have them adjusted correctly

How much better is the a50 4th gen compared to the a10? I want to upgrade to the 4th gen a50 from the a10's. Is that a good upgrade?
Not tried the A10 but the A50 is a million times better than the A20s. So guessing it's a good upgrade.

@@redburn1990 well, it depends if you're using on console or pc? Because on PC they're great. Fantastic sound, good surround sound, excellent comfort. Buy on console people are complaining they're too quiet and keep disconnecting from Xbox when you turn it off. However it's a firmware issue so should be fixable.

Yes I’ve updated the firmware for both the headset and base station , the headphones are brand new and they worked on chat audio for one day and then the next day I couldn’t hear any sound sound so I switched to all audio and I could hear but I don’t like that because I can’t control the voice volume
I don't know if I'd trust buying this. When I got the gen 3's it surround sound was absolutely atrocious compared to my gen 2's. Anyone else had this issue?
Yeah, I had tons of problems with my Gen 3. Also the fact it wouldn't fit properly back on the base station for a charge. The sound would always cut off for me to at different times. At this point I was on the verge on upgrading to the 4th but I got my eyes open for other headsets.

@@Mandemclipper weird. Well I've not seen that on either version. The voice over for this was recorded with the Gen 4 mic if it helps
@@TheProvokedPrawn it's supposed to do something with interference over certain frequency on WiFi but I have never found a fix for it and have had to live with it since purchase 😒
