It would have been very easy to make Ransom a natural enemy to the Lower Deckers, like really cowardly and up his own ass, a critique of classic bad bosses. But this show is always so aware that its characters are part of Starfleet, which only takes the best and brightest people. Ransom is still a great officer, and genuinely cares about his crew.

I truly went “oh the bridge crew is just gonna be background for the show” and now I’m mentally debating if Freeman is my favorite captain 😂 this show can run for 20 seasons I’ll still watch it 🏃♀️
At 14:38...I wish we had a few seconds extra, cos Ransom's smile when he praised Mariner was GOLD! I only counted three smiles he gave her; one at the end of the classic S1x03 (before he had Mariner dragged to the brig), the other one in S3x05 (Reflection, when he realised Mariner was working hard to get ppl to sign to Starfleet), and this one. All gold!
Well, he's not the best and brightest, but you can count on his help and he's coming to save his crew every time ! When they were together in the scene with Mariner and cpt. Carol Freeman, I noticed Ransom is the younger, whiter version of Admiral Freeman. They both have to handle calmly the temperamental Carol and the even more temperamental Beckett. He is still young and has a lot to learn, but his heart is in the right place.
wouldn't it be nice to have Ransom and Mariner together... somewhat reminiscing Admiral Freeman and Capt. Freeman... and also more than that? Ransom-Mariner banters are always gold!
Hi CS, I just googled Jerry O'Connell in "Sliders" and OMG, he actually had Ransom's vibe back then! Well, different personality in Sliders, but with the right hairstyle etc... they don't look that different... Can anyone photoshop Jerry's Quinn Mallory in Sliders with Ransom???

Like, 30 years later, cpt.Mariner yells at her husband on a screen: "She's your daughter too, why did you send her to my ship?! You know I can't discipline her, but you were able to discipline me, back in the day... ". And he replays ,embarassed :"Well, I can't use the same thing with our daughter..". Cpt.Mariner, grinning :" Ah yes, now I remember... ok, I'll handle it... where is my nr.1, little Boimler?! I have a job for him... ". 😁
She honestly had it coming, breaking so much rules that her parent had to cover everything to keep her from the trials. Someone had to hold on the burden

Ransom was awesome. Cracked me up! COME ON !!! GIVE US TWO MORE SEASONS! i ALWAYS THOUGHT LOWER DECKS WOULD GO 7 SEASON. I also love those two gay whales. They were funny as hell. ( no pun intended )
STILL think Ransom should have gotten demoted for intentionally risking a disastrous smission failure just to try to sabotage Mariner. Were I freeman, I would have thrown his ass in the brig for that. I donn't care who you are or what your plans are, you use the right people for the right job. PERIOD
