- Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't uploaded in a bit, been very busy! But in today's video, I'm ranking each season of the Clone Wars. This was a pretty challenging ranking especially since I love this show so much. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy the video!

I can't believe you just dismissed the Nightsisters arc from season 3, one of the best in the show in my opinion.
Yeah, sorry I ended up glossing over a few arcs that I really enjoyed just so the video would be a bit shorter, but I enjoyed that one. I just kinda enjoyed the night sister arc in season 4 a bit more

I really like your ranking, I like how you listed your pros and cons of each season and I mostly agree with you. I really enjoyed the bad batch arc, I guess I'm just a tad bit harsher on it since it was in the final season and I wanted something a little more substantial. Good ranking though!!
I’d put 3 in 2nd, 6 in 3rd, and 5 in 4th. Pretty much the same reasons as you except I didn’t really like onderon but I liked the stretch in s3 from 3-11 (except 8, which was the 3po filler episode)

1) Season 4 Water War, Umbara, Slavers, Bounty Hunter Obi-wan, Ventress redemption & Maul return make this a great season (minus the 2 droid episodes)
2) Season 6 Fives and the Wills really carry this season. Clovis is just typical CW arc.
3) Season 5 Great start and even better back half of the season. The Droids + 4 episodes of Ashoka training padawans keep it lower than t2.
4) Season 7. Mandalore is the best cannon Star Wars out there, The sisters arc is painful to watch, Echo return + Bad Batch was great.
5) Season 3. Nightsisters, Citadel, Mortis & Padawan Lost as all great.
6) Season 2 I enjoy the first half a lot, back half isn't my fav
7) season 1. not great start, good clone development
Just one correction. It was Fives not Echo who discovered Order 66 and died as a result.

Also, season 4 is phenomenal throughout and every episode was a banger.
I noticed you hated on the droids episodes, and I'll say it, I don't care: the two episodes of R2 and 3PO fucking around, while the worst of the season, were still great. They are fun as shit and I enjoy them. Especially the second one, where they just end up all over the place in a bunch of weird situations. It's some of the wackiest, trippiest Star Wars and I love it.
lol for sure! I think there can be some fun in those arcs where there isn't a ton of weight on the characters tbh. Even though I don't like it, I get why it could be fun for some people haha

I completely agree about the Droid two-parter. Eminently rewatchable IMO. I do however despise the first three episodes on the water planet: what a SLOG.

You wanted to know my rankings and reasons why? You got it.
8th place: The Clone Wars Movie.
You need to be in the right mood for this thing to work. The story is just not all that interesting for a movie, and it is compiled of the first three or four episodes of the show, so it either should have always been that way, or you change things up, and to do that, I submit that you keep Christophsis, have the Twilight somewhere on that planet, and then you change the rest of the movie to the Malevolence Arc. Have the Jabba's son story be in the show, Rotta even shows up one more time in Season 3, and it has plot points that are also brought up again in the show, however, next to nothing comes from the Malevolence arc that is exceedingly important, it's just Clone Wars fun and it's the thing that George saw that made him believe that this show could work and even be a theatrical thing, so why no just do that story instead? Makes no sense.
7th place: The Lost Missions
I don't even like calling it Season 6 because, well, it's not. 13 episodes, so already lacking, and it wasn't even billed as a Season, the episodes were billed as the last scraps that were too far into production to just leave unaired. It also opens Pandora's Box a bit with the inhibitor chips, Admiral Trench being revived, Clovis returning (which was supposed to be in Season 5) when it was implied he died in Season 2, Mother Talzin doing whatever it was she was doing, that thing with Syfo-Dias and his assistanat, and Anakin and Obi-Wan fighting Dooku AGAIN (Does "My powers have doubled since the last time we met Count" mean nothing?), it's just all too much new for it to not go anywhere. Oh, and no Maul. That's literally the only cliffhanger I had after Season 5 because everything else was so nicely wrapped up in my opinion. The episodes themselves are not bad, but since a lot of it was creating new problems where there weren't any, it's just a bit convoluted.
6th Place: Season 3
Kind of echoing your sentiments. The issue with this anthology of a show is that half this Season just bounces all over the timeline and some of it is not the most exciting, but the back half is pretty good. The front half is a little political heavy, and that is important to Star Wars, especially the Clone Wars, but it does take a good chunk of time. Also, I'm not so hot and heavy about Mortis. The first episode is fine, but the other two feel a bit unnecessary. It's like George is trying to explain the Force in the same way as defining a word by using that same word in the definition. Yoda's Force Journey from the Lost Missions is actually a better example of explaining the Force, and I do find that pretty great.
5th Place: The Final Season
Yeah, I'm not calling it Season 7 either. If you combined the Lost Missions and these 12 episodes together, then look at that, you have a true Season 6, but whatever. Similar to your opinions, the first 8 episodes hold it back. I had already seen the Bad Batch Arc in Story Reel form so the only real good thing to come from it was that it had finalized animation. Kind of wish the Utapau arc got included in this one, too, since it deals with Anakin's anger and his feelings toward Ahsoka leaving. In fact, if it weren't for the Bad Batch show, I'd say swap the two stories because the Utapau Arc feels more important storywise. I actually don't mind the Martez Sisters and that arc, but it is one episode too long, something that could have been saved for a quick Maul recap because turns out the Son of Dathomir comic is actually important to the events of these final two arcs. Ugh.
4th Place: Season 1
I love this Season, it carries that similar vibe that the Tartakovsky series did, and I grew up on that series, so it's pure nostalgia for me. Nothing but fun most of the time, I hate to hear people hate on it.
3rd Place: Season 2
It's just an expansion on what came before, but also was the show really starting to come into it's own. This is when some of the bigger recurring stories began to take shape and the show just got an upgrade in its look. It's also proof that Star Wars can kind of be anything. It can be War, Noir, Mystery, Fantasy, Horror, Thriller, Western, Kaiju, and more.
2nd Place: Season 5
It's a really solid grouping of arcs in my opinion. I absolutely love the Younglings Arc. The Droid Arc... yeah, it's a bit rough when one episode is a 22-minute experiment based off the pitch from George, "I want to do an episode where literally nothing happens." Like, dude, what are you doing? But Onderon, pretty good; the Lawless Arc is my personal favorite arc of the entire show; and the Sabatage Arc was a great finale to the show. Aside from Sidious saying that he had other plans for Maul that were not followed up on within the show (Seriously think about it, if you didn't read the Son of Dathomir comic, you would think that Maul is still running his operations as a proxy for Sidious and then decides to betray Sidious, you're missing a lot of context.), the Season 5 finale is great to just end the show on despite the cancellation by Disney. Asajj Ventress is a full on bounty hunter and doesn't have her lightsabers, she can kind of just disappear into the ether or be on a wanted list (turns out she dies in a novel based on the Dark Desciple episodes that were barely started, I'm cool with that, but her story was wrapped up in the show as far as I was concerned), Ahsoka has left the Jedi Order, she can also disappear into the ether (and then reappear in Rebels, nice), her role was to be a vessel for Anakin to let go of his attachments and that is something we knew he would fail at, only pushing him further to the Dark Side, and Mandalore would be calling out for help from the Republic, but we kind of new that they wouldn't respond because it was a neutral world in a civil war, if the Separatists are not there causing the problems, it's none of their concern. It's literally only because Maul is still alive that the show ending at Season 5 is unsatisfactory to me.
1st Place: Season 4
Echoing your own sentiments, it's literally a 20 out of 22 success rate with the episodes in my opinion. Everything we see is either important, or at least interesting to watch, but Mercy Mission and Nomad Droids are possibly the worst episodes of the whole show, including the D-Squad Arc. The irony here is that I can have a ton of fun with Evil Plans, the Season 3 episode where R2 and 3PO go to get fruit for a cake, and then 3PO is tortured by Cad Bane while R2 goes to the spa with weirdly sexualized droids that are rubbing up on his body, but when the two go to a couple worlds and encounter Ents, a Frog Sprite, go on Gulliver's Travels, and meet the Wizard of Oz, I hate every minute of it. I think the reason why is because the show had changed so much and they were telling more serious stories with Mandalore, the Nighsisters, Mortis, the Citadel, and the Season was also dubbed Battle Lines, so like, it's time to get serious because a show called Clone Wars ironically didn't have a ton of just straight battles, and this two-parter is stuck between Mon Cala and Umbara. I have minor gripes in other arcs, too, but they are only ever minor, the other 20 episodes in this Season are great.
That's my ranking. Season 4 is the best, and it really is the peak of the show. From then it couldn't really get much visually better until this Final Season and the stories were on point, it's why I really feel like Season 5 is actually a better conclusion. It's like stocks, the second things start to dip a bit, sell. Sometimes when shows stick around too long, they destroy themselves, and aside from visiting a cracked mirror universe where Clone Wars continued what it was doing until it's natural conclusion in with all its stories in 8 Seasons, Season 5 was a great conclusion. Because of the current canon and having to make things line up, I can never know what Clone Wars is like when it's just telling its own story. At the same time, we got that a bit with The Lost Missions, and it made problems that would have been expanded upon more in future Seasons so I may not have liked where the show was going anyway. The Siege of Mandalore is a great conclusion, it is most likely the best arc of the entire run of the series, but I can't help but think parts of it would be different and perhaps even better if there had not been Rebels and Solo to muddy the waters. Still, I am content for the most part. Clone Wars is one of my favorite shows of all time, too.
Wow, great ranking man! I loved reading your through opinions on each season. I agree with a lot of what you said, especially about the clone wars movie even though I still kinda enjoy (nostalgia maybe idk haha) and I haven't heard anyone compare season 1 to the Tarkovsky clone wars before. I absolutely adore that show and I get why you'd compare it to season 1 even though I think the action gets better as the series goes on. Great ranking man, loved your thoughts!
7: season 6 - hot take, but the only part i liked was the Fives arc.
6: season 1 - not very in depth of story, but fun
5: season 2 - better than season 1, more in depth
4: season 7 - bad batch was really good; ending was amazing, just didnt really like the episodes with trace
3: season 5 - really good season, maul and mandalore was really good
2: season 3 - really fun season, really good arcs
1: season 4 - not much i can say, just an amazing season.

Great ranking! I honeslty agree that the clone wars movie isn't that bad and is completely overhated.
I think the Ondreon and Youngling Arcs of Season 5 are underrated and add a lot of weight to the Star Wars universe. The arc where the droids go on this quest though, I agree is not very good and brings the season down a bit for me, coming before the last two arcs which were both masterpieces and elevate the season so much. I still prefer Season 4, but S5 was pretty damn close for me.
Honestly, if season 5 didn't have the random arcs that were just not very good at the start, it would easily be the best season for me.
@@Machuw I said I thought the first two arcs didn’t feel random, while the third arc felt exactly that way. For some reason, George Lucas said that was his favourite, making me question his taste in movies.

also... I actually didn't mind the jar jar & mace arc of season 6 and the martez sisters arc (low tier, but not as bad as people say IMHO)

Yeah, I mean they're not like the worst things ever I suppose. The cool thing for The Clone Wars is there's a little something for everyone so it just comes down to taste imo

7: season 1 4/10 by far it's so bad, i know people like it, but it's childish and has everything wrong and jar jar episodes there's no good episode! just ok or shit to me.
6: season 2 7/10 it's the first time, i actually saw good stuff in the season, best arcs bobba fett arc, kad bane arc, the 2 mandalore episodes not amazing but good! i do have to say all the other arcs are just season 1 level bad or ok but there aren't a lot of bad just ok and the good arcs
5: season 3 8/10 it's weird because i love this season! the first 11 episodes nothing special but still good. like the episode where ahsoka sees visions of padme, dying and the clone cadet's, stuff are good but then it really goes into the shit with the nightsisters arc that's very good! and then i don't remmember the arcs name sorry but episode 15 16 and 17 are in the top of some of the best clone wars stuff the ending episodes aain nothing to special they could be really good but mostly just decent and nothing special but the middle of the season is fantastic!
4: season 4! 8,5 first six episodes okay nothing special then episode 7-10 im like on board with that shit!!!! then episode 11-14 good but not great 15-18 everyone knows how good this arc is arguibly the best of the series 19-20 fine 21-22 darth maul makes these episodes! overall there is some great arcs in this season and some of the best of the sho but there's a lot of arcs that don't reach the full potential of the show!
3: season 6 9/10 it's so good the first 4 episodes i think is my favourite clone wars arc (not counting season 7)but uhh hmm 5-7 just fine interesting but really not in clone wars full potential :/ 8-9 horrible the arc that made me question life🥶episode 10-13 so close to the best arc of clone wars i think my third favourite it's so good!!!!!! (not counting season 7)

1: season 5 9,5 so good!!!! first episode great because (darth maul) episode 2-5 just fine:/ episode 6-9 pretty good nothing great at all but just nice episodes :) 10-13 whatever :/ (just fine) 14-17 omg how fcking good im saying dumb shit about what ones are the best arcs but i don't know because there's so many good ones 18-20 just watch WATCH WATCH RIGHT FCKING NOW! WATCH! still the last season 7 arc is the best but seriously if you say one of these arcs of darth maul or anything is the best i can agree with you!
Dudeee I love your list! It's really cool seeing how different everyone's rankings are. I love the last arc if s7 so much but the other arcs just didn't hold up imo, but im glad you love that season :D
@@Machuw that the final episodes are so good makes me love the season so much! if the season started with episodes that are just as good as this and would've ended with the rather fine episodes it would've been lower but that it's the end and it's so satisfying makes me think it's the second best season just all the build up!
7. Season 7 (Not terrible, but frustrating. The last arc was perfection but the first 2 arcs just felt unnecessary and dragged especially Rafa and Trace’s awful arc.)
6. Season 1 (Decent but fat from perfect. A lot of meh episodes here and a lot of generic ones. At the same time though it’s not half bad in my opinion. Is it great? Probably not. Not terrible though either. I think there’s some pretty underrated episode in this season people tend to look over like Malevolence, the finale, Christopher’s episodes, and the Ryloth episodes.
5. Season 5 ( The best part is Darth Maul. Everything with him was great. The characters were great, however the worst part of the season that just dragged was the rebel stuff with Sau Gurrera. Overall great aside from that. Especially the last Ashoka arc)
4. Season 6 (Great season. Shorter than usual obviously but still great. The only episodes I didn’t like were the weird 2 parter with JarJar and his girlfriend. Everything else I loved.)
3. Season 3 ( I liked this season a lot. It gave our characters the robes they’re known for, introduced the plot thread of Maul surviving, and it’s where I started to really like Ventress. I also love the Arc Trooper episodes a lot.)
2. Season 2 ( I really like this season aside from a couple stupid episodes. The Mandalorian plot arc was solid, the Cad Bane arc was perfect, and of course the Boba arc at the end was fantastic. Characters like Satine were nice additions. The only consistent issue is the animation tends to kook off in certain shots.)
1. Season 4 (U pretty much summed up everything. I feel like this season was the most creative of all seasons next to season 3. Maul returning was great along with expansion of the night sisters, Grevious Vs Ventress Umbara and so many more).
Love your ranking. I agree with u in that season 4 felt the most creative to me, and I like how highly u ranked season 2, easily the most underrated season imo

I hate the droids arc because the ONLY good part of it is ruined by Rebels bringing back Gregor
Yeah... I honestly forgot how badly Gregor was treated in Rebels and I hate the Droid arc even more now haha
what the hell are you talking about one hour episodes and finales and shit? Have you even watched this show?? Literally all the episodes are like 22-25 minutes long
