I have read that changing the stereo for a hybrid is different. Can anyone explain what the difference is with changing the stereo on a hybrid versus a regular 2006 ford escape?
The latches that keep my radio in place are broke. So putting the tool in doesn't work. I need it out to replace the lights in my instrument cluster but can't find a way of getting it out and I don't want to break it.

It's still in there as I write this comment, in hopes that someone reading this has had the same issue, and figured it out? Help!! The factory radio is just hanging there cause I can't get the connector to release!
Thanks.....do you know if a 2005 Ford Escape Limited with V-6 has a sub woofer....I do not think so but wanted to make sure before I buy a replacement stereo.....The Mach 300 has given me nothing but trouble....
The limited most likely will have a sub.... In back of the rear seats on the passenger side there is a plastic panel. If its perforated ( like in speaker holes ) there's probably a sub woofer. There should be settings for it on your radio. You may have to modify the opening for the new unit.. and if you have the sub make sure you get the part that prevents a loud crack when its being turned off and on.. any stereo shop should have it.. And while your'e at it consider if you want a Sirrius unit before re installing. Much easier on the install.
seems so simple. I get that spring loaded feel on the left side but not the right..I get the tool in but it has no spring, and I can tell that side is still latched. I purchased the tools from cut rate auto parts...they don't have notches but more like little balls on the ends.
My stereo makes a constant clicking sound when I try to put in a CD, then typically spits it back out. Anyone else have this problem? Randomly it will decide to work, but usually just clicks and says "no dj" if I press CD while it's clicking. Would removing the radio help to see what's going on inside the compartment?

What about installing a new radio? Specially a Blaupunkt BPTNS1018. I’m and amateur at this and the wires don’t match up. I’m not sure what to do.

I'm having the same problem except it's with the cassette tape slot. I'm bummed because I can't aux any more. I'd like to know why it's doing that.
