@@adnap I guess yeah, their original version of hurt was very emo though, nihilistic even. And cash made that song about sadness and it was very emotional, despite the original purposely lacking emotion, which is an emotion in itself I guess.

This song was released in May of 2002. Johnny Cash was 70 years of age. His beloved wife, June Carter Cash, died one year after the release of this song, and John, shattered by her passing, went to meet her four months later.
If the American Recordings were all he ever recorded, he would be a legend in the music industry.

      @xzonia1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@jollykone2258 My bad. You're right. The pale horse carries death, not the white horse (I was going for death). It's been a while since I last read this passage. Apparently, there is some theological dispute over whether the white horse carries Jesus Christ or the Anti-Christ, and some say it's the Holy Ghost. You're clearly in the Anti-Christ camp of translations.

    • @knightscroftsquire-muldoon

@@xzonia1In the original Greek translation the pale(light green and sickly) horse is death with hell behind it and Christ will return riding a white horse. The Antichrist will come riding a donkey(a sign of modesty) to mimic Jesus earthly body riding into Jerusalem as to show he is for the common people. Christ will return riding a white horse with a double edged sword in his mouth(the word of God) to vanquish the Antichrist and armies of the world gathered to kill the last of the true believers. But You're correct you just needed a little clarification, God bless friend!

This song is like a sermon from a man who's seen it and lived it all. He's simply saying there will be a day when you will be judged accordingly, whether you have been good or wicked and it was all in that book to read that's been around for thousands of years. A very deep, spiritual and reflective song.

    Loved music especially JC.
We never thought any more of it.
    Then one day it arrived.

My favorite song by him will forever be “hurt.“ But this one was actually in played in the credits of Logan. And it fit the main character Logan/wolverine so well!

There are bunch of "Revelation" / judgement day references/lines in Tombstone.

Besides the awesome vocals, there's the instrumentals that are so hard-hitting, too.

What a GREAT Cash song to choose. I'd forgotten it but the hook guitar is epic.

Johnny Cash is a national treasure and I am so pleased you are reacting to another one of his songs! But now for something unique and completely different - a cover of Adele's "Hello" by Walk Off The Earth featuring Myles and Isaac! Trust me you have never seen or heard anything like this amazing band!!

You don't have to be a hard-core country fan to appreciate Johnny Cash. He's one of the greats. This song reminded me of a song by Peter, Paul & Mary called The King of Names. It's a fantastic song, and it features the great Paul Butterfield on harmonica.

My daughter was 12 when she first heard this song and she loved it so much. She's 15 now and my wife uses this song as her ring tone when my daughter calls. Great song and emotion.

The Album this song is from was indeed his last. He had lost his beloved wife June Carter a few years prior and his health wasn’t good. The entire album is about confronting death. Top producers were lining up to work with him and the album is very stripped down instrumentally but arranged so perfectly that a single piano or organ note creates beautifully rich drama in the songs. He does a lot of covers of some classics, including Danny Boy and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. But the one that cuts deep to listen to is the cover of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt.” It’s a perfect metaphor for his life, which included addiction, and the video is quite moving. The entire album is a masterpiece and a fitting final bow in an illustrious career and life, flaws and all.

A fun song by Johnny is "Oney", a song for the Working man about a man who is retireing and tells them what he really thinks. Should also do "Jackson" a song he sings with his wife June.

Y'all have to do "Hurt", which was originally by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails - some great late 80s/early 90s industrial music), but after Johnny Cash covered it, Trent said the song then belonged to him.

I like how Johnny not actually singing this song, he's just talking it out and yet somehow, it's still across the world a hit song. 2:34- I know you felt that piano, right there.
