This video is a great idea! I could absolutely see myself regularly watching something like this to truly understand the issue rather than just reading the short blurb in the injury reports.
Makes a big difference when a certified medical doctor speaks about the "real injury" vs some so-called dumb retired jock who probably never did his own homework before. Duh, it's all in his head...
Dude, this is absolutely what basketball fans, or even sports fans in general need. You give us information we wouldnt find or understand this easily if we wouldve researched it ourselfs. Keep this concept going, good work and thanks!
@@BrianSuttererMD i agree tho, you're a doctor, you worked for it...you have the right to show it off. I wouldnt be against you having your degree in the background, and maybe some indicators. marketing wise might be smart too.
Hey man, I wanted to find this video to comment and say thank you so much. My wife (gf at the time) is a former D1 athlete and was experiencing similar symptoms that puzzled doctors at the time. You posted this video pre-pandemic when her symptoms were really bad. I showed her this video back then and she was like “omg that’s what I have.” It took us a while to get referrals to see specialists for such a specific condition based off a TH-cam video, but we finally got an appt with a renowned doc in Boston to get treatment. Doc confirmed it was TOS and recommended a relatively simple surgery to release the pec muscle. It’s been a very long and gradual recovery, but she is way better now! Who knows how long she would’ve went without a proper diagnosis had you not posted this video! Can’t thank you enough.
It would be cool to explain how boogie or Hayward recovered since they are both 6’8 or above or explain the process of how a human the size of biggie would recover
I believe Hayward dislocated his ankle and fractured his tibia, which allows him to recover 100% whereas Boogie tore his achilles which is one of the worst injuries in general, but especially for a big man that needs to plant his foot into the ground and he may never be the same when it comes to his post up game. rip boogie :(
Thank you for making this, most people seem to not know what injury Fultz suffers or the significans of TOS. Its quite a big deal that is complicated and difficult to fully heal. Its sad that more media hasnt commented on TOS thats troubling Fultz.

Dude your channel will be so huge if you explain every injury to every player in every sport. You made it much more simple to understand than the 76ers did.
He was complaining about numbness in his arm and that lead to rumors of nerve damage from a motorcycle accident. This sounds like a misdiagnosis and a medical staff that was passing the buck by saying it was in his head. I have thoracic outlet syndrome and my symptoms flare when I sneeze...it feels like a "stinger" down my arm. Its extremely painful, but only last for a minute or 2. I was also diagnosed with a muscle imbalance for years...now as silly and stupid as this sounds I just have to watch my posture if I feel like I have to sneeze.
The staff def wasn't passing the buck its a very uncommon condition and Fultz is technically physically able to do everything and pass a physical to be medically cleared. Some of it may be Fultz not telling the doctors exactly whats going on trying to tough it out and suck it up.
Love the idea of this channel! Consider also speaking about the “timetable for return” the media often speaks of, and how accurate they are, and how fair they are to the athletes, as bodies heal differently
Definitely keep making these types of videos. Sports fans will eat this content up like crazy and will be thankful of your field knowledge being shared with your fellow sports fans. Awesome video with great audio and visual diagrams.
Can’t lie, this is probably gonna be my favourite TH-cam channel of 2019. Keep up the good work, watching your videos reminds me, why I wanna study medicine. Great channel 👏🏻
Currently in my M3 year and am finding your videos incredibly informative on ways to drop all the academic vernacular when explaining typically complex situations to patients. Thanks!
There is so much potential with this. Mixing science and sports and you have done a great work trying to explain the body mechanics and the symptoms of the syndrome. We can reduce injuries if we are more informed about our body and our movement. Keep doing your thing doctor and looking forward for more content.
I am also a medical professional who works for Mayo Clinic (read: I'm not a doctor) who loves sports. I'm subscribed! Please do more videos like this. I'm always interested in the science perspective.
This is the first time coming across your videos but I absolutely found this super fascinating. You hear all these analysts talking about these types of things and not fully understanding what is going on. As a 76ers fan I have a huge interest in this story and just wanted to thank you for explaining things the way you did.
Thanks!! First one of these I've done but I think I've hit on something people find interesting and I'm also passionate about. Hopefully they only get better! This was rushed after I read the news and wanted to get it up quick!

Thanks for shedding some light on this uncommon condition! I remember hearing about this with Markelle! I actually got an unprovoked DVT from venous TOS while running a half marathon- my whole arm swelled up. I had to be on blood thinners to prevent more blood clots until I has a first rib resection. I've heard conservative management is usually successful with neurogenic TOS, like with Markelle Fultz, but usually the rib has to come out with venous TOS.
Once this channel grows, I think using tools as animations and diagrams would be a great way to help us understand it even more and to add to the entertainment value. Awesome concept. Could really see this channel blow up!
ESPN should hire this guy to explain sports injuries like this. Actually understandable and interesting content on injuries that the typical sports fan has no clue about
Great video! A series about common sports injuries with some examples would be amazing. You always hear about these injuries but never REALLY know whats going on.
This video really helped me understand what exactly people were talking about in reference to Markelle’s injury. Hopefully he will come back from therapy and all that and play like the 1st round draft pick we were hoping to see in the NBA!
Thanks for the explanation. I can better understand what's happening to my guy if this is actually what is going on with him. Continued success with your channel.
I really enjoyed the video, only thing I think was missing is a comment about the likeliness of the player to heal, or play basketball at NBA level again for this case
As a PT tech wanting to be physiatrist, this is super insightful and I can relate some of the exercises patients do to this situation. Not bad of a direction for the videos.
Hey man absolutely loved the video and I see a real NEED for the content you're producing! That's always the key for a channel to blow up. Only note: Try to limit looking at your script at the beginning of your video cuts. Should just be a minor tweak by pausing for 2 seconds while looking at the camera before and after talking.
Thank you! Been on TH-cam about a year but everything else was a different style . Appreciate the kind words! Hopefully they only get better but thanks for bearing with me haha
I have TOS and knew very little about it so thanks for clarifying. Based on my experience with the therapies I've done (with little progress) I'm concerned for Markelle that it won't ever go back to where he'd like it - but I'm hoping he proves that feeling wrong!
Great idea for video and this is super insightful! A lot of players have foot, ankle, ACL/MCL sports injuries, so looking at current players who are out would be a good place to start. You could also try to add clarity on what treatment and full recovery looks like when someone is a professional athlete too
Nice informative video. It may be mind over matter in Fultz case but I hope it’s something physical. Physical trauma can be treated much quicker than mental trauma. He’s shown flashes of being a #1 pick. I’m rooting for him.

Yea theoretically thoracic outlet could do a similar thing. If you're getting intermittent arm pain when you move certain ways, some of those movements could cause a shoot of pain and cause him to "glitch" a bit for lack of a better word. Idk though, it's odd for sure
